  1. Can someone please explain the debarkation process for Club Orange cruisers? We have a 11:20am flight out of Ft. Lauderdale Intl. We are hoping to be one of the first off the ship at 7:30am. Is this a realistic time to be off the ship (will be bringing luggage with us). Also, is it easy to call and Uber or taxi once we are outside the terminal? Or should we arrange a private car service scheduled to pick us up around that time.

    Thanks in advance,

    Charles

  2. Can anyone please tell me about this particular stateroom? It appears longer and wider with a larger balcony than the typical veranda stateroom. Is it actually larger and/or is the balcony larger?

Any other insights to this cabin? We will be on the Panal Canal cruise for 12 nights in Jan 2024.

    Thanks for your help!

Does Carnival accept self tests through Switch Health?  I am Canadian travelling to Miami for a cruise in February but can't seem to find on Carnival's website or other site if this brand of self test is acceptable for Carnival.  Please let me know if anyone has heard about Switch Health being accepted. Tx.

Hello, How did your using your SwitchHealth test go? I was also going to use them for an upcoming Carnival cruise out of Port Canaveral. But I read that they only accept 2 'self test' kit brands from the US. I would rather use Switch Health as I have used them many time coming back into Canada. But not for cruising.

    Thanks in advance!

Just noticed your avatar showing Vancouver. With this tight time line are you also flying back to Canada? That may present your biggest issue if your flying international.

Sorry for replying so late... Yes, we are flying to Vancouver via Toronto from MCO. Why is it a bigger issue travelling international (to Canada).

    Thanks!

If you're Platinum or diamond you can self disembark starting around 7:30, otherwise for all other guests it starts at 8:00am. It takes only 45 minutes to get to the airport if you have a private car service.

Thanks for this....so to confirm, the earliest (unless Plat or Dia) is 8:00am? No other way to disembark earlier?

  6. Hello,  Can anyone please give me some feedback on the Mardi Grad debarkation process for those who wish to leave early? We have a 12:15pm flight out of Orlando so we will likely take our own luggage out and leave as early as possible (7am?). Anyone else do this? Any issues? What is the most reliable shuttle service I can book for a family of 5 persons that can pick up around 7:15am?

    Thanks in advance. Charles

  7. Hi Everyone, When does this appear on your cruise planner? I am on the Aug 25th sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. I just booked my entertainment yesterday but still no 'Rubicon' option. Also, we are a family of 5. Will they allow us to go in with just this group or does it have to be larger?

    Thanks, Charles

  8. We got to the port around 2pm. But we took a fasttrain from Rome to the port as we stayed in Rome 3 days before embarking. You can go any time you like but haven't not been there before (in Europe) we wanted ample time to get there as well as to navigate/get used to the ship before embarking. If you are taking the train, you will have to haul your luggage up an down some stairs to get to the street where you'll then have to take your luggage to the port. You can take a taxi but its only a 5-10 min walk. There were some elderly couples who left the train with us and my son and I helped them carry therir luggage up and down the stairs.

  9. I have a quote for 160 Euro for a transfer from our hotel in Rome to the port. Curious to see if other's have used other companies that might be less? How easy is it to use the train to the port?

    Thanks!

Hello, We are on the Epic on Aug 19th out of Civitevecchia. We researched this as well and booked the fast train from Termini to Civitevecchia. We are a family of 5 and it cost us 69 Euro for 1st class. A bit more than the regular trains but a lot less than a private transfer plus you get your own (upgraded) seat and you can get your e-ticket via e-mail. :)

  10. Does anyone know if the Promotional Gaming Chip offer (by calling NCL reservations) is still active. I'm in the Haven on the Epic on Aug 19 and I got a letter stating to view the 'welcomethehaven' online documents which states that you can pre-order gaming chip promotional offers to use onboard.

I just called them and the woman I spoke to at first didn't know what I was talking about and then, after a putting me on hold, stated that NCL doesn't have those anymore.

Just wanted confirmation because I was going to call in to speak with someone different...

    Thanks!

  11. The board will show the final destination of the train; sometimes main intermediate stops will also be listed. You need to know your time of departure and the # of your train to be sure you're looking at the right train on the board.

You can see a sample here: http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/04/19/25/c7/stazione-termini-tabellone.jpg

Thanks! I see that the platform # is to the right. Why are some 'blank' for the platform #?

  12. We have booked tickets on the 11:57am train from Roma Termini to Civitavecchia for our upcoming cruise this weekend. We have reserved seats according to the online confirmation and a PNR number listed on the ticket.

Am I correct in thinking we don't need to get this type of ticket validated prior to getting on the train?

I have searched the boards and think this is the case, but I'm paranoid about getting it wrong, so would appreciate confirmation from someone who has "been there and done that".

I'm also concerned with the stories of gypsies and pickpockets. Is it safe to leave luggage in the baggage racks once on the train?

When you took the 11:57am out of Termini, how did it read on the board? Did it list Milano Central as your destination or Civitevecchia?

  13. Thank-you! Good to know... How do I know which car is 'Car 1' as I approach the train?

Sorry for my ignorance again., but when I look at the schedule, I can see the 11:57 Frecciabianca with a destination of 'Milano Central' with its first stop at Civitavecchia. When I look at the 'board' at the train station, will I be looking out for the Frecciabianca 9772 with a destination to Milano Centrale?

    Thanks Again!

  14. The schedule and track assignments are posted months in advance. That said, they can and do change so it's important to check the signs trackside before boarding.

The 11:57 Frecciabiana (#35772/#9772) from Termini is scheduled to depart from track #22.

Thank-you! Good to know... How do I know which car is 'Car 1' as I approach the train?

  15. This is true for the regional trains to Civitavecchia but not for the IC or Frecce trains which leave from the main track heads.

The airport train, the Leonardo Express, now leaves from the main trackhead as well. They leave from tracks 22 - 24, the last three tracks on the south side of the main station.

    Termini station map here: http://www.romatermini.com/en/map/

Hello, we are doing just that...taking the Frecciabianca out of Termini on the just before noon departure (our hotel is also 5 min away). Do you know what track this train leaves Termini? Or does it change daily?

    Thanks,Charles

  16. Answering/commenting on a few things here:

    1) No need to purchase in advance, the regional trains (cheaper) are almost as fast, and there's no advantage (in price) to advance purchase. Ticket machines have an English button; only thing you need to do is punch your ticket in the yellow box on the platform. Other advantage of the regional train is you can leave from alternate Roma Stations like S.Pietro, Trastvere, Ostiense which may be closer to your hotel.

    2) If you're on the fast train (more expensive, slightly faster), be ready to jump out at Civitavecchia, as the train wont stop for a very long time. Also on the faster trains with reserved seats, no need to punch your ticket; but you're limited to a specific train.

How long , approximately, does the train stop at the port? I have 2 pre-teen girls and they will have their own carry-ons. I hope it's not something like 1 minute. Please elaborate....

  17. I did the cruise (boarding and disembarking in Rome) the first summer they did the multi-city cruise.

There are fewer people getting on and off in Rome when I did it. That makes the check-in process much easier. Shorter lines. Cabins ready sooner etc. I don't think you miss out on any of the entertainment You jut don't see it in the same order as Barcelona passangers. You can pre-book the major shows ahead of the cruise online any way.

I like Rome, being able to spend an extra couple of days in Rome before the cruise was wonderful. The port near Rome is quite a distance from the city and because of that I would prefer Rome as the port where I start and end the cruise.

In Barcelona there is a shuttle bus that costs a couple of Euro that takes you from the ship to the centre of town. When you come back there will be a large queue of people checking in on the side there is a queue for people who are already checked in form other ports and you get back on. Not certain what day Barcelona is now when I did it is was Sunday, and many of he shops were closed.

These are very port intensive cruises, with very few sea days. That gives it a different feeling all together. The on-board experience is mostly an evening affair. Other than the one or two sea days there are very view passengers on the ship during the day. Some of the ports, such as Naples are downtown and you can come and go as you see fit. Other ports are in industrial areas and there are shuttle buses to get you unto town. If they are still doing Canes, that is a ender.

I also caught the Air Canada flight back the same day the ship arrived. I was a little worried because it was before noon however I had no problems and spend a good hour and a bit sitting in the lounge at the airport. Same process as any other cruise, luggage outside the door the night before arrival or you can also walk off as soon as the ship docks, I did the walk off as I was worried about the flight.

I did another cruise a year latter flew back connecting somewhere with a very early departure. I stayed overnight at the Hilton connected to the airport. Short walk to the terminal. The hotel also has a free shuttle into downtown Rome for guests.

Hello, we are on the EPIC out of Rome on Aug 19. Can you please tell me when then ship arrived in Port and the earliest you were allowed to disembark? We have a 12:20pm flight. Also, when you arrived at FCO, how long was the check-in to get to the gate? We are flying FCO to Toronto to YVR.

    Thank-you, Charles

Hi Mackfam, Can you please tell me if everything worked out OK? I just purchased my online electronic tickets for my family for our Aug 2015 trip. Did you need to get them 'validated'? Also I heard that you could store your luggage in between seats. Is there really enough space? We booked 1st class to ensure that we have the most options for space usage.

    Thanks, Charles
