  1. We were on the same cruise as Luckie Puris, in Concierge Class 9263.

I agree with all the praise he gave to the Solstice. This was our second time on the Solstice in four months. We loved it do much the first time.

However the passengers were so different this time. Maybe it was because we cruised to and from Sydney. Our first time we finished in Auckland. There were 1700 Australians on board this cruise and while most behaved in an exemplary manner there was a large proportion of yobbos.

They drank excessively, swore loudly and were quite rude to some of their fellow passengers.

The worst time was when Ben, the Tour Director , organised a wonderful party for the World Cup Cricket. Ben went to so much trouble to make it a fantastic experience but the drunken group behind us kept yelling out obscenities at the screen as they disagreed with umpires or cricketers.

I asked why they kept being plied with alcohol and the waiter said they had to.

Where was the duty of care.

I would never cruise Australia-Australia again.

  2. If you are an Australian the sockets on our iPad chargers etc so fit those on the Solstice.

If you don't have one you can hire one from Guest Relations and get a full refund when you return it.

You can buy one at the airport, Strandbags etc. it is an adaptor to use with Australian products in foreign countries.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Our travel agent in Noosa also prebooked our seating times for the first two nights on November 3rd cruise. When we went to the dining room they didn't have our reservation. We got in fairly quickly though. After that we just went down to level 4 and were always seated within ten minutes.

We chose to sit with other people except on my birthday. It was lovely to dine with different people each night.

On our March 22nd cruise won't bother pré-booking. Just go to restaurant when we are ready.

  4. We always fly to Sydney the previous day. You can have a lovely relaxing day in Sydney without worrying about a possible problem with the flight. We get the Air train to Central and stay at Rendevous Studio Hotel. Cheap, clean near lots of cheap'n'cheerful Asian restaurants. Next day we catch the train to Circular Quay to embark on the cruise. We will follow this routine in March for our cruise on Celebrity Solstice.

  5. We probably need more information to be able to definitively answer this.

Celebrity has a Special Needs department which deals with such things as lactose intolerance, celiac, shellfish allergies, etc. But that's mostly about avoidance, not needing something special.

But a general rule of thumb is that they will not prepare any food you bring on board in any of their kitchens.

If you bring snacks, or special cereals, or things that don't require cooking, there is no problem.

But if you need something heated up, even if only in a microwave, they probably can't do that.

Can you tell us what special food you require?

I eat 12 morello dark cherries (from a jar) each morning. They have the same anti inflammatory benefits as Celebrex, without the side effects. I am happy to bring my own and eat them in my stateroom.
