  1. Whenever we go out of there, we don't chance it, we drive in because it is close enough to, stay at Moody Gardens, park our car in their covered garage and take their shuttle to the port and back. We then stay one more night and then drive home. The last time they weren't charging for parking or the shuttle, we just tipped the driver.

I don't know if you can just stay one night on either end and take advantage of the shuttle and parking but you could always ask. The staff at the hotel is extraordinary and the rates were very good. When you call, tell them your plans and they will work with you for the best rate possible.

We have a soft spot for them because they went above and beyond after our last cruise because we were iced in at home and couldn't safely get back. Not only did they give us a super rate, but were welcome stay and they would honor that rate until it was safe to drive home. Since it was off season, they had the room, but we were able to take it day by day and tell them in the morning that we could safely get home and not be charged for the next day.

The shuttle also was available to go to other places in the island so we didn't have to take our car.

I wouldn't recommend the IAD because it means driving through downtown Houston which can be unpredictable (traffic and a bit dicey if you are not familiar with it. Hobby is on the Galveston side, so it is not only much closer, but easier driving. Have a very nice trip!

  2. I have been there many times, but not recently. The bus system is fantastic, as is the ferry system.

This might help answer a lot of your questions:

If you have the time, take both the ferry and the bus to get a real feel for Bermuda from both land and sea. Since only one car is allowed per household, many locals use the bus. I've had some friendly and fun conversations with them. Just remember to stand back and allow all people off before boarding.

The buses are clean and have huge windows, so very nice views.

  3. Interesting, had never heard that, but have never taken in anything more than a drink or cookies and usually only a drink. I suppose they don't want plates and the like cluttering up the place. Also interesting that some theaters have cup holders while others don't.

  4. ...but on Disney Ships you are allowed to get your own beverages from the self serve "free"area and take them into the theaters. You can Vern

Be sure to get lids so they don't spill and remove your trash when the movie is over. Room service has great cookies.
