I got covid on the Apex.  Sailed b/2/b December and January.  It is still on board. We will be sailing again on Celebrity soon.  I am fully vaccinated, but will wear a mask in crowded venues- especially the elevators.

Also we were on the Oasis in August and many people reported covid after the cruise.  Saw on the blogs.

    Thanks!

Hi all. I'm currently on Silhouette 9 day cruise. I woke up ill on day 6 and tested positive for covid. I notified guest services and quarantined immediately. I am a paranoid respiratory therapist and masked most places except dining and outside. There is little masking during this cruise but lots of coughing. I worked with scores of covid cases and managed to avoid covid up till now. IMHO, cruising is high risk. I'm vax'd and boosted. Symptoms have been very mild, sore throat and mild headache alleviated with Tylenol. Is cruising worth risk for me?  I think so because I love cruising and trust in vaccinations- but would be totally devastated to expose someone who could suffer and possibly die. I wish everyone who is symptomatic would mask up. Thank goodness covid is much less virulent then it was in 2021. It is getting much better but we still are treating plenty of covid in hospital . Oh yes- crew has been just amazing. Calling and checking our needs. So far hubby tested negative twice and he goes about ship (masked only). Any questions?

Thank you so much for this response. We too have managed to avoid covid as we still wear masks in indoor spaces. We thought we might try cruising again but are reconsidering now.

  3. Question regarding recent cruises where masks and vaccinations are now not required:

We will be wearing masks in indoor spaces on the cruise and have some questions. We understand we will be in the minority. Please no hostile, political or judgemental responses to the following questions. Just the facts please.

1.Are any of the cruise staff ie cabin stewards restaurant staff wearing masks?

    2. Approximate percentage of guests who may be wearing masks.

3.If you have been on a cruise and there was a covid outbreak in the last month was the ship transparent about it? We understand that the CDC no longer reports covid cases to the public on ships, only categorizes the status of severity of outbreaks.

    Thank You

  4. Has anyone done this itinerary in August - wondering about rough seas. Although we’ve taken numerous cruises and have been on the Solstice, Reflection and Equinox and have never had an issue on these boats in regards to sea sickness - we have encountered rough seas on slightly smaller boats and some of our party has had some issues  with motion sickness. Just wondering if the North Sea and Irish channel can be rough in August.

  5. We are considering taking a celebrity cruise on the Solstice in mid August departing from England! going to Ireland and Iceland. We have cruised several times on Celebrity , and have been on the Solstice. Some of our group however have been sea sick on some of the cruises during rough seas and we are wondering if anyone has taken this trip mid- August and if you could feel the motion on the Solstice.

  6. It's not an engine problem. The issue is with one of the Azipods. To fix that requires a dry dock as the pod is on the outside of the ship under the water line. They would have to cancel a lot of cruises under your scenario because dry dock space is reserved months in advance. Canceling the cruise is not going to happen unless it's unsafe. I am in the December 7 sailing right now and I am quite happy with the cruise despite the modifications. Celebrity is a great line and the $100 is icing on the cake.

    Thanks.

  7. So there is some information flying around that the Silhouette is experiencing some propulsion problems.

As a result - no San Juan ?

    Can anyone share any updates?

(and yes - I am on her next week and was looking forward to visiting)

Yes, we are on the Silhouette on December 21st and Puerto Rico is cancelled as well. When pressed, I was told by the Captain's Club that the ship will be travelling at a slower speed so it will not reach Puerto Rico in time. When I researched further, I found a couple of posts and articles that the Silhouette has been having propulsion problems - thus the slow travelling time. I am really shocked that this is the way they are handling it - fix the engine - or cancel the cruise - don't let passengers know last minute when they have already payed and will not refund. You will get 100.00 on board credit if you are not in a suite - and 200.00 if you are as compensation. Really! I tried to get my money back and change cruises but it was a futile attempt.

  8. to the ship travelling at a slower speed and would not make it to the port in time. I know this happened at least once before on the Silhouette for the latest Thanksgiving cruise - not sure if it was because of weather - or - engine issues. Does anyone know?

We are completely disappointed that the ship will not be going to Puerto Rico, even though it was a ridiculously short stop.

Celebrity offered us 100 dollars for compensation - we would rather have cancelled and booked another cruise - but of course this is impossibe at this late date.

Does anyone have anymore info on all of this?

  9. We are on Sunday's sailing of Silhouette. Just called Celebrity to verify rumor about Puerto Rico being cancelled as a port stop. Yes, we are not stopping in San Juan, but they said it was "due to a problem in the port of San Juan"! Well, we all know it's due to the engine problems. We will get $100 OBC, Suites will get $200.

Why can't they just be honest?

We are sailing on the 21st of December and were told, when pressed, that Puerto Rico was cancelled because the ship has to travel at a lower speed so it won't make it in time - don't necessarily know if this is an engine problem - or wind/sea issues? Where did you hear about engine problems? I know that in October, Puerto Rico was also cancelled on the Silhouette for the same reason - slower speed - but I think it was due to weather.

  10. Just looked at the drink packages for water and alcohol and they do not seem worth it for us as we are not big drinkers. However, I am wondering how much a decent glass of wine is on the Silhouette and my husband is wondering how much a decent shot of bourbon will be. Thanks

  11. I recently booked concierge class on a December sailing on the Silhouette.

I was fully aware of the additional perks and the fact that the cabin is not any larger than a regular balcony. However, I have not read any positive posts about the benefits of this class of accommodation and am hoping that someone found it to be worth the money. We payed approximately a 100 per person extra.
