  1. Wherever there are public transportation a private driver is an unnecessary extravagance!

In Naples I would not trust in buses, metro or trains timing, especially for the way back to the ship, because that means to plan with large times just in order to be safe.

You can reach the Archeological Museum in less then 2 miles if you know the street along the historical area but Naples has many different museums as Capodimonte or Bellearti.

  2. Naples is very nice, but If you decide to go along the historical center it's better if you do with a guide and avoids to dress jewels and precious watches. It is not dangerous but better if you are careful and it worth in all big towns!

  3. Naples has so much to see.

There is a castle just in front the Cruise Terminal (Maschio Angioino). Then if you want walk a short distance you can take over the castle, where you see Galleria Umberto I, S.Carlo theater, the royal Bourbon palace and Piazza del Plebiscito. Via Roma (or via Toledo, it's same street!) is a pedestrian street famous for shopping and if you are in Naples you can't miss PIZZA! Wherever you are in Naples pizza is always delicious! That's an example of how to spend a day in Naples, otherwise you need a driver to reach the museums, the cathedral and the most panoramic view points!

That's only for keep to stay in Naples, because with a driver there are so many other alternative excursions!

  4. Thanks for your help. We don't want to overdo our port days. Hoping for a day with no rain.

As you will be there on December and you prefer to do something easy, try to take some info about San Gregorio Armeno. Practically it is a perfect place where see how the Neapolitan people are usual prepare for Christmas and a good opportunity to learn about Presepe (a Neapolitan characteristic Nativity representation).

To do that you don't need any car, if you plan all as well you can reach it walking the historical center

  5. Thank you so much for your review on seeamalficoast.com. My husband & I just booked thru them yesterday & we requested Carmine! We are doing Tour 3 which includes Ravello, Amalfi , Positano & then for ( 40 euros hr), we added on an hour stop at Sorrento for some shopping. I understand shopping is a lot cheaper in Sorrento?? This is our first time EVER to Europe ( Italy- Western Mediterranian) . Can you tell me more about the restaurant, LaTagliata??? Is it all u can eat & what is the cost? From Naples port, how far is it to the first stop? Did you stop at any beaches? All info is greatly appreciated.. Thank you

    Robert & Debr

The shopping in Sorrento is not cheap but it is for sure less expensive then along the Amalfi Coast! I don't know how long will be your time in Naples, but if you decide to visit Sorrento too you need to optimize you time along the Amalfi Coast in order to be back to the ship on time for the departure. Usually the best way is to set 3 stops of 1 hour each, but if you plan everything in advance you could be able to catch time for a quite lunch and a fast look in Sorrento!
