According to RCCL meteorologist James Van Fleet (wow, what a name!) all indications are that the resulting surge would be less than 3 feet.

Since their own reps are unclear on the exact policy, I'd rather not risk it with some powertripping screener in every port I take it.
I feel like that is probably the wisest move at this point. I hope you enjoy your trip nonetheless.
On a semi-related note, I wonder if there are enough people like you to support a drone rental business at a scenic location like a Caribbean island... hmm.... :)

I feel like these kinds of things go in seasons (not necessarily related to the seasons of nature).
When I started reading posts here, the Caribbean Princess was the "dirty girl" of the fleet that seemed to get a ton of complaints. I feel like it's the Crown's turn in the barrel.
People have very real, valid complaints about any particular ship, and I respect that. But it's also probably true that each ship is a money-making asset for the corporation and they don't want to have any ship in poor condition.
Unhappy people spend less money when they're onboard and don't come back to spend more money. And that would be bad for business.

We've been on the Royal & Regal and can only compare them to Emerald, but here's my 2c:
The positives (probably nothing you haven't seen before in this thread):
1. Outrigger's (aft deck 16) is a fantastic area. DW and I love it.
2. Horizon Court is enormous with lots of variety.
3. The larger atrium is really quite nice!
4. Wheelhouse bar is better set up for people-watching than on the Emerald.
5. The picture area is out-of-the way enough that you're not inconvenienced by it.
The negatives:
1. It's not my private yacht.

I'm sorry to interrupt this thread, but I really wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. It's a tab that is always open on my iPhone's browser. I read an entry (or two) almost every day to get me through the times when we're not on a ship. My wife and I are relatively new to cruising and you've given us both something to aspire to.
I'm happy the issue was resolved to your satisfaction and wish you and G all the best.
Thanks again for sharing your adventures.

I'm impressed that so many people have had success with the DINE line on embarkation day. Both times I tried it (on separate trips) nobody answered. I've always just walked to the Crown Grill and there was a guy there who wrote our reservation in a book (or on a ledger-type paper, I don't remember for sure).

On our first cruise we used a local TA. After that I booked myself directly with Princess. Then I switched to booking myself and transferring it to a local TA because I like him and I get a tiny bit of OBC. We are currently booked in that manner but I am going to pull the booking from him and transfer it to another TA. I will feel really bad about it (honestly, I really do like the guy and he gives excellent service) but I someone did the Godfather thing and made me an offer I can't refuse.
I think I have $70 OBC on my next cruise from the local TA. A big box TA has offered me in the area of $1,000 OBC for booking the same cruise. (I think that realistically it will be around $900 but that's still nothing to sneeze at.) No matter how bad I feel about pulling the listing back from the local TA there is simply no way in the world he can match that kind of OBC. I will get to keep my same booking, same AIBP perk, same everything but get a lot of OBC. I doubt my local TA will be happy but I also doubt that he will fail to understand that I simply can't afford to throw away that kind of money.
Holy cow, man!

Will Majestic have them on from the getgo?
That's a great question. One would think so, but I haven't read anything definitive about that.

I'd like to bring a letter from the Captain that says I'm allowed to steer the ship for a while on a sea day, but he isn't returning my emails.

...Me too! We had him on our Asian cruise last year, he was superb with a great dry sense of humour.
We are on Regal this Sunday, and have a female CD (first I have encountered), Kelly Rose, this time. Anyone been on a cruise with Kelly?
See you there! I haven't yet met Kelly so I'll be looking forward to it. I've heard nothing but good things.

You got lucky. Ron is one of the very best! You'll have a great time.

Yeah, you have to wonder why the cruise companies haven't picked up on that "get a little sloshed and paint a picture" trend.
Oh, and I just wanted to thank the above poster for the "hoo-haw claptrap" comment. Love it! :D

BEAV, I did exactly what you said and checking website every couple of hours. A few minutes ago I got a cabin, booked it via website, and called and cancelled waitlist.
So glad I checked.................
Thanks!!
:D:D
Congrats and have a GREAT TRIP!!!

I'm pretty sure the midship staircase is now where people go to share AIBP drinks with cabin mates who don't buy the package... ;)
(...and if I could have worked in a chair hogging joke there, I would have done it!)

You can purchase before embarkation or onboard. They must be purchased for the entire duration, not select days. You can purchase a non-alcohol package and then just buy alcoholic beverages (for full ala carte price) when you want them. Have fun!

What kind of person is your daughter? Is she a party all night 33 year old, an exploration/adventure 33 year old, a foodie 33 year old, etc...
My friend and I, both 31, are about to sail on Regal Princess and I'm not at all concerned about whether the general demographic will be older than us. We both love food, I love drinks but not to the point where I can't stand up straight, we love to explore beautiful settings/cityscapes/etc, we enjoy dressing up a little and a touch of class, and frankly we both love a good night's sleep. :D So Princess seems like a pretty perfect line, whatever the ages of the travelers. I would think more about what your daughter likes to do and what kind of personality she has to decide if it's the right sailing for her.
I think Lionessa15 makes an excellent point: it's more about personality than age.

At sailaway, we are usually topside along a railing if we aren't on our balcony. We usually sail out of Ft. Lauderdale, so we're waving to the people fishing on the starboard side or in the condos on the port side.
As far as a drink -- I drink Scotch every sailaway. It's my policy.

Hope so. But either way, it's part of the deal whether I like it or not. As for me, I'm fine with it. Not a big deal in my mind.

Got our Cruise Atlas today... And the Captain's Circle magazine!!!
A good mail day. :)
-
I think this review I wrote earlier in the year will offer some assistance...

As Astro Flyer pointed out, the on-demand stateroom TV's on the Royal/Regal will offer the same movie. We found that we preferred our own version of "MUTS:" Movies Under The Sheets. :)

And he has his own flag which is flown on the ship.
I have had a few days (very few) in my 42 years when I thought I was "cool."
...but I'll never be that cool!

It is true. I recently saw the story and visit with this lady on a tv program a few weeks ago. I believe her name is Wachstetter.
Yep. Lee Wachtstetter on the Crystal Serenity.
USA Today article about her:
