I’m sure they will sort it out. The room service manager on the Emerald said (I am currently sailing her) they are not charging full suites for phoning room service even if you have no package or an old package.
If they do charge you (on Ruby)  I’d ask for the F&B manager to pay you a visit. A friendly chat with them or the HGM if needed should take care of it.

    Enjoy your vacation.

I got an email from Princess earlier this month.   Briefly it said:

If you have a plus package you would get two of the casual dining meals and unlimited if you have the premier package.   Otherwise it's $14.99 - but it didn't specify if that's per person or per table at the casual dining restaurants.

Ocean Now Delivery - $14.99/guest/voyage - UNLESS you have Plus or Premier when the fee is waived.

Room Service fee - $5 (except complimentary breakfast orders) but again waived if you have Plus or Premier packages.

As usual I'd expect different people to have different answers because it's a new program.

Congratulations.  You picked the right ship.  Did your wife help you out with that?

We celebrated our 40th anniversary a few years ago.  A few months prior I thought I'd better start some planning.  So, I asked Mrs. XBGuy and she was enthusiastic about doing something special.

I couple months prior she had mentioned something about a road trip to the wine country.  So, I asked, "Do you want to take a wine country trip?"

    She responded, "That sounds nice."

OK, after almost 40 years of marriage, I know "That sounds nice" is not a ringing endorsement.  So, I try again.

"Would you like to take a cruise?"

    "YES!"

Now we're talking.  The next step is to pick a cruise.  Our anniversary is towards the end of October, and we found two itineraries on Princess ships that we thought would work for our anniversary.  One was on the Star Princess and the other one was on the Ruby Princess.  I really don't recall the itinerary of the Star Princess, but the decision was made when Mrs. XBGuy told me that the gemstone for the 40th anniversary was the Ruby,  Done.

We had a terrific California Coastal Cruise.  We indulged in the Ultimate Balcony Dinner on our anniversary day,

Great call on going for the suite.

    Not to hijack but...

While I like cruising I'd have preferred Tahiti or a similar destination.   Yes, Heresey on a cruise ship board!!  However "happy wife, happy life" so a cruise it was.  We chose the Ruby because the itinerary fit our anniversary date (sept10) plus The Wife wanted to go to Alaska.  I didn't even know until well after booking that the 40th is the Ruby anniversary.

We have gone up to the PES (Platinum, Elite, Suite) event for happy hour and they have had some great nibbles up there in place of dinner.

First off, thanks for doing this report.   My wife and I are on the Ruby out of SF on Sept 4th.   Is the PES event in Skywalkers?  If not, where do they hold it?   Is it every afternoon?  This cruise is for our 40th anniversary so we splurged on a suite and want to take advantage of all the extra goodies.

  4. Thanks Steelers36 & Cruise Raider.   I'm not sure which pier we'll be leaving from but I guess I'll find out soon enough.   We're flying into SF the Friday before so will try to take a look at the pier area before embarcation - or at least via google maps.   We're planning on arriving about 11am on embarcation day, though with arrival groups going away we may just wait til later on.

  5. My wife and I on the Ruby Princess to Alaska in Sept and have a full suite.   You only have a 40th wedding anniversary once!    Is there an actual concierge lounge on the Ruby?   I've read that it's just a section of the Skywalkers lounge but I'm not sure.

And I'm HOPING that the free laundry service will keep my wife from packing as much - though I doubt it.

  6. Hi all,

For our 40th wedding annivsary my wife wants to take a cruise to Alaska.    The trip that's the best fit for our schedule is on the 10 day inside passage trip on the Crown Princess leaving this Sept 5th.  After looking at the reviews on CC I'm concerned because they all mentioned the engine troubles on the Crown princess.  I did read that it was supposed to go into drydock recently.  Does anyone know if they actually did these repairs and/or where I can look online to find out?

Since it's our 40th anniversary I was planning on getting a suite.  Is it worth the extra $ to go from a Club class min-suite to a Vista suite?   The difference is close enough to pay for another weeklong cruise to a different destination.    We usually go with balcony cabins but my wife complained, though not too strongly, about the last two (both on the Norwegian Getaway) being a bit tight.  I did see that we get more perks with the Vista suite but we've never cruised on Princess before.    Any suggestions or tips would be quite welcome.

    Thanks!

  7. Hi

We'll be on the Freedom of the Seas and will dock at St. M on Christmas day. Is it correct that it's an official holiday and most things will be closed? In the thread about New Years day it said that its an official holiday and everything is required to be closed. Is that right? I don't care so much about shopping, but was looking for some water activities.

    Thanks!
