  1. Maybe the customer will, maybe they won't. They still made it to the airport so why do they expect a refund? If the customer was unhappy with the service they can find a different ride to the airport next time just as a cruiser can do.

Fair enough. But according to many posts here, the customer is not supposed to feel unhappy or complain about the stressful situation because the driver was completely blame-free even if it was his decision to put the repairs off.

  2. Expressing their angst and frustration is different than "I'm never going to cruise Carnival again" comments.............

If your car breaks down while you are driving, do you say "I'm never going to drive (insert brand here) again"?

Agreed. Things happen. Machines fail. We don't control weather.

    But imagine this scenario:

You make a living by dropping people off at the airport. You charge them months in advance using demand pricing. One day, you realize your car has a major mechanical issue that slows it down and your customer is an hour late. This happens a couple more times. But you do nothing.

Finally, the car slows down substantially when you are driving someone to the airport and they almost miss their flight although they paid a rush hour premium. And you say "Sorry about that. I can give you a 25% discount when you ride with me next time."

Do you expect the customer to shrug and say "Sure. Things happen."?

  3. According to the cruise contract they can cancel the cruise altogether and offer NO refund, wonder how many would be okay with that.

Oh well it was stated in the contract, sorry about your luck.

I don't see anything wrong with some folks expressing their angst and frustration. Everyone's definition of fairness doesn't have to be the same.

There are so many posts here favoring Carnival. Makes you wonder.......

  4. How is your vacation ruined? Are you still not going on a 7 night cruise??

A ruined vacation is completely subjective. And so is value.

A $50 credit may have been a good deal for those on shorter, cheaper cruises. But for those of us who can only travel during holiday periods and pay premiums to do so, it doesn't seem like a good deal at all.

Believe me, I am trying really hard to cross over to the positive side.

In the meantime, please let folks like me gloat in our own misery.

  5. From Falmouth you could go to Montego Bay. That's what I did & had a great day. Did they say why they're dropping Grand Cayman? Was it damaged during the hurricane? I haven't heard. Sorry you feel like your trip is ruined & hope things work out for you!

They are dropping Falmouth as well. Going to Cozumel and Costa Maya. We are now paying a premium to travel during Thanksgiving and are stuck with an unsafe ship and unexciting ports.

  6. So,

Liberty apparently is unsafe to sail on, has changed our itinerary by dropping Falmouth and Grand Cayman, .........wow 7 day cruise to Cozumel and Costa Maya? Really, give me my money back, plus expenses, and I promise we will never book a cruise with carnival again.

We are sailing on the 19th too and are really mad at Carnival for ruining our Thanksgiving vacation. Especially after we heard Liberty had problems in October and the ship was still not fixed.

Are they offering any compensation for the missed ports? Also, how did you find out about this change?

  7. Your best bet is to go with Victor Bodden for whatever other stuff you want to do and make sure a trip to "Victor's monkey business" (right next to ziplining) is included. Gumbalimba is probably great but it may not be worth the trip and the cost to just see the monkeys.

  8. We are a group of three people (Two adults and a nine year old) planning to book a Goff's Caye excursion. Island Marketing (Belize Cruise excusions) offers this tour at a lower price ($5/person). The tour is basically the same or so it seems.

Any advice on which one to go with? Which tour operator does Shorexcursioneer use in Belize?
