  1. I have a barclay arrival plus card. Double miles on every dollar spent plus a 5% reward back for miles used. You use your miles to get travel statement credits. 10,000 miles equals $100 in travel statement credit. Unlike a lot of other cards, this card doesn't just give airline miles. Travel statement credits can be applied to uber, taxi, hotel, airfare and cruise fare. You can get cash back and not apply miles to travel charges, but you don't get nearly as much bang for your buck. They have a good sign on bonus (50,000 miles if you spend $3000 on first 3 months). Annual fee is $89, but is waived the first year. APR isn't great, but if you use it and intend to pay off monthly it shouldn't be a big problem. Also, they have travel insurance for travel paid for with your card.

  2. Waiting to debark Imagination now...

Overall we (8 y/o son and myself) had a great time.

Stateroom: m167 (inside) was very large and well maintained. When we first entered there was a slight odor similar to body odor, but didn't notice after the first day. We did not meet our cabin steward until the 3rd day of our 4 day cruise. He gave us twice a day service and towel animals daily.

Food: we had late dining which ended up being too late for us. (My son was falling asleep at the table the first day). We only ate in the dining room on he first day and opted to eat on lido for the rest of our dinners. We enjoyed guys burgers and the tacos. The pizza was just bleh.

Entertainment: the divas and rock show were awesome. I was impressed with the talent of the cast (much better than others I've seen on previous ships). My son really enjoyed the hasbro game show.

Ports: We went on a dolphin sighting excursion in Catalina, but the dolphins didn't cooperate. We still really enjoyed Catalina. We had a great lunch at a diner and enjoyed shopping and playing on the small strip of "beach". We went to la bufadora in Ensenada. We enjoyed that portion of the tour, but opted to not stop downtown since there didn't seem to be much to do. Overall, Ensenada is not a port I would like to return to.

Overall thoughts: we had a nice time on our special trip. There were times we were not sure what to do on board, but that was probably because my son was being finicky. The waterworks area was a favorite of ours. The ship was in good condition for its age and the crew were very accommodating. I would definitely prefer a slightly larger ship in the future (looking forward to trying out the Vista in October).

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please note I didn't keep any fun times or menus for upload.

  3. Pricing is the same, but you do not have to pay gratuities for cruisers under 2. Also, you will want to note that an infant is not allowed in any of the pools including the splash area if your ship has one. I am bringing my baby on my Vista cruise next year. I was pleased to see that Camp Carnival/Camp Ocean allows children under 2 into the facility on sea days from 8 am until 10 am when they open up for all other cruisers. You can stay with the child at no charge or drop them off for $6.75/hour plus gratuity. (At least this is what it said in the faq on the Carnival site).

  4. My mother in law is freaked out about Zika and my wife isn't even pregnant yet. We have a 4 day to Cozumel scheduled in 2 weeks and then a week long in May that stops in Cozumel.

I would just take bug spray with deet and be careful. They say light colored clothing is best too. If you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant soon you want to take even more measures to protect yourself. Based on my research, they are not sure if it can be transmitted sexually, so you will want to take the same precautions as your wife.

  5. I had a 4 day cruise scheduled on the Imagination for February 21st. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and visited my OBGYN this Monday. When asking her about precautions she recommended that I not travel to Mexico due to the serious threat Zika is to pregnant women and their unborn children. After careful thought and consideration, my husband and I decided to cancel our cruise. We did not book with travel insurance and since we were less than 2 weeks away from travel we expected to lose the money spent on our cruise. I am very happy to report that Carnival was amazing with me and transferred my funds to a future booking. I was already planning on booking a Vista cruise for October 2017 with the kids, so I went ahead and booked and will add the baby to the booking once her/she arrives. I know that many of us get frustrated with the constant cutbacks, but I am happy to continue and book with a company who knows how to treat their customers.

  6. My parents cruised the inspiration and departed the day after the Super Bowl this year. Their embarkation was delayed because people partied too hard during the game and had to be dragged out of their cabins. You may want to be prepared for a similar situation if you are cruising out on New Year's Day.
