  1. Just booked about an hour ago. :D I went with the $200 Shore excursion credit and not the drink package, still not sure if it was the right choice I went back and forth a dozen times. I'm used to the free perks being free this year it was a $199 add on for drinks.

I sailed Star last year and had a great time and there were at least 20-25 LGBT members on the transatlantic while going westbound. Most days they would go from the meetup to dinner together. Any singles on board? I'm going solo and like to do the activities; shuffle board, ping pong, etc and will need a partner.

What is everyone doing once in Europe? Haven't nailed down the details yet but I'm going to Barcelona and Dublin at some point. Any spanish speakers I could practice on lol?

Did you book flights yet Ian? I was researching and came across a $130 flight Dublin to Toronto earlier.

  2. NCL Star Transatlantic is on sale again. It includes Pick your Perk but says ends today. You can put a 48 hour hold on it(free) to extend like I did to search for fights etc.

April 17 Tampa to Bermuda, Portugal, ends in Copenhagen. If you pick the shore excursion credit Bermuda counts for $150 and Portugal for $50 so you get $200 credit.

Inside $536 +117 tax (one perk)

Outside $749 +117 tax (two perks)

The other transatlantics are also very cheap with low supplements but I was just on the Star Transatlantic Eastbound last year...Great ship, good staff :)

  3. A cruise I'm considering has the free Ultimate Beverage package for any category but I noticed a bit of fine print..."Service charges are not included on beverage or dining package offers." So I did a mock booking and it wants to add $29/day for the service charge, that's got to be an error right!?

I got a free package on my cruise last year and they certainly did not charge me anything. I could see a dollar a drink or something but $29/day for drink tips? That seems crazy; the service charge on a free package is more than I would normally spend on drinks.

  4. I *think* that's Euros not dollars. Still, inexpensive for anyone who can fly to/from Panama/Lisbon.

It's a Spanish cruiseline so VTG may well charge you in euro but the price on their site would already be converted to US dollars.

If you guys like that one there is another. It's a French cruiseline Croisières de France on the Zenith March 30. Dominican Republic to Spain. $265 no suppliment. Lookup Fast Deal 11434. Basically like US lines just announcements are in French first and English second. You can still get daily planners and such in English and most if not all customer service staff speak english. I hear the French line has great food but have not sailed it yet.

  5. Don't want to hijack the thread but I have a question about going solo as well...

Does anyone know of a particular cruise where there are going to many LGBT travelers in the next month or so? Not looking for an only gay cruise just one perhaps you know through the roll calls has a large group going? Probably Caribbean would be best but I'm not married to it.

    Thanks

    Michael

  6. Don't think iConcierge will cost anything to call as long as the person you are calling is on the ship and has the app. You should download it prior to boarding.

    Jim

If you open the app and click on messages at the bottom it says "current packages and rates are not available until you connect to the ships wifi network"

My understanding is that things like the dailies, your account total, menus, etc are all free. You pay either a flat fee or a nominal fee to call or text people on the ship. It's not the 79cents a min of internet though. Again I believe this is how it works, don't quote me.

  7. What kind of cuisine does Moderno serve?

If you’re looking for a unique experience, our authentic Brazilian steakhouse is a must. Start with an impressive salad bar of imported cheeses, olives, cured meats, ceviche and specialty salads. Be sure to save room for the delicious skewers of slow-roasted meats including beef, pork, lamb and chicken – all carved tableside by our Pasadores.

    Price Per Person: $20

I'll make a reservation. If you would like to join post with how many in your group.

  8. I often feel very socially awkward in large groups so I doubt I attend every single party. But I'm gonna really try to workout in the mornings. I've got the ship tour to Windsor Castle on VE Day as most independent tours for one person seemed be be about the same price as the ship's. No telling what I'll do in Amsterdam.

I'm not a social butterfly either that's why I posted a few activities. Maybe a couple of people want to go to a specialty dinner or spend a spend an hour playing some games, smaller groups is better imo. The regular roll call meetup has like 200 people attending, how are you supposed to even find the people you've talked to lol.

I have only indulged once in Denver(legally) but thought maybe a few people might want to hit a coffeehouse in Amsterdam. Much less likely to miss the ship if we are in a group, surely one of us will be ok to lead back to the port

  9. Afternoon Ladies and Gents!

I just booked solo this morning Miami-Copenhagen, 34/m/texas. How many of you are doing 11N to London and who is doing the 14N crossing to Copenhagen? Or staying even longer?

If anyone is interested in some games on board I enjoy ping pong, chess, scrabble, and am learning Bridge. Also could use a gym partner to motivate me to go more often, enjoy using the hot tubs daily, will go to some of the specialty restaurants, and might be interested in joining some tours ashore. I was assigned room 12507 so email me mernst321@yahoo.com or leave me a message on the ships voicemail on board, we need to fill those many sea days somehow :)

I see mostly couples, anyone else single? Who knows what trouble we can get into...

What happens in international waters stays in international waters; am I right? :D
