  1. I'm asking on behalf of our teenage daughter, what are the chances that there will be other teenagers on the Hawaii-bound Ruby Princess at the end of March? I tried to help her realize that her school isn't the only one with a spring break, and we couldn't be the only parents taking a teenager with them on a cruise, but she doesn't believe me and thinks she'll be alone among "old" people or at the youngest, no one near her age. She's used to sailing on Disney ships on which she's made tons of friends in the kids' programs and which has hundreds of kids on them all year round.

Please reply if you have experience with a March cruise to Hawaii with teenagers in the past or will be taking your teenagers with you this March. Just knowing that other parents have done this will help her feel more enthusiastic about her prospects for companionship during our cruise. Not that she doesn't like hanging out with her parents....

I sure hope your daughter knows how incredibly lucky she is... I never got to travel as a kid, parents didn't have the money for themselves, let alone us. And you spending all this time trying to make her happy. :)

  2. We were in B409 on the Royal, 2 decks above you, and no issue with privacy and LOVED the extended balcony!

Would book it again in a minute!

Have a great cruise!! It is a fantastic ship!

    Hi LFK60,

Any chance you have balcony photos to share? I'm booking D409 for next year just for the larger balcony and would be great to see photos! Thanks.

  3. Sorry I don't have a pic to download, but I stayed in this exact cabin last year. Enjoyed the location so much, we picked the comparable one (D410) on the Royal for our next cruise. The balcony does angle out a bit more than a normal deluxe balcony cabin, so it is larger than others. And it feels very private. You will have some ambient light on the balcony at night from the promenade and the Skywalk several decks up. But I liked it; no need to turn on the balcony lights! No obstruction either.

Inside, it's the same as any other deluxe balcony. You won't have mid-ship stairs, but we never had an issue with walking to forward stairs or using mid-ship elevators.

    Hi Luvseaside,

I am just about to book Regal D409 for Feb 2017 so eager to read your opinion. We loved Regal when we stayed in a standard balcony cabin last year (C209). We chose D409 just for the balcony space since friends will be coming along and hoping to all have cocktails together on the balcony. I would be paying a few hundred dollars more for this room vs the standard balcony cabin, so any idea how much extra space you really got? Thanks so much!

  4. I don't understand these women that carry around a purse while on a cruise. I too put everything into the safe and only carry my cruise card till I get off the ship. I see women carrying purses all the time. I don't get it.

My ever-present Epi-pen and phone necessitate a small wristlet or cross-body. Oh, and all the stuff that my hubby wants to have on hand but doesn't want to carry himself, so he can then say "why do those women carry purses, sheesh?" LOL

  5. Hi all,

Only a handful of cruises under my belt. Loved Regal Princess in Feb and looking at repeat for next winter. Any idea why the prices for a 10 night are disproportionately higher than a 7 night? The nightly rate is significantly higher for the 10 night. Appreciate any input from regulars!

    thanks in advance!
