I think the water bottles, primarily the the 16 oz. ones, are much more likely to end up in the ocean than the pens. People carry the bottles around with them and there's probably some jerks who toss them overboard. Or maybe off their balcony. But not too many people are carrying around the pens. I get it, there's tons of plastic in the oceans and it's bad, but to say they're getting rid of the pens to keep them out of the oceans is kinda silly. I really find it hard to believe that passengers are going around chucking their pens overboard.

Some changes aren't cutbacks. The Hub app and 2.0 upgrades cost the company money, they aren't cutbacks. Granted, they spend that money on things that hopefully save them money in the long run, but I don't call that a cutback. Cutbacks are getting rid of things in order to directly save money...like pens & chocolates. A lot of small things add up to something big for some people.

Of course that is exactly what this is.  I honestly don't care they got rid of the pens, but at least be honest about it and don't come up with some BS excuse.  If you're really that concerned about the ocean, there are so many other, more impactful things Carnival could be doing then eliminating the free pens.  I assume the plastic pens in the gift shop are eliminated as well?  Just as much of a concern, but something tells me you're more than welcome to purchase one.

It reminds me of when they eliminated the free Bridge tours due to security concerns, but somehow all those security concerns were eliminated if you paid for a behind the scenes tour.   More BS.  Just be honest with your reasons.

Exactly....they  think we're stupid. I don't need the pen....but stop feeding us BS

  3. I take my own wheelchair. But you can rent one from SpecialNeedsAtSea.com   but I'd check craigslist and thrift stores because you might be able to buy one cheaper than renting and she'll have one whenever and where ever she may need one.  The ship has courtesy wheelchairs, but they can not leave the ship at ports.....you need to rent one yourself.

  4. I don't care what that man from across the pond says...it is cutbacks as usual. No more chocolates, maybe the fish in the ocean were getting too fat from those.  Tablecloths only on elegant evenings....being eco friendly less washing.  No pens, saving the environment.  No more straws....what's next?  Maybe we'll get a cardboard sail and sign card because plastic is no good for the environment. Why doesn't anyone bring up the kazillion diapers used each week by babies and incontinent elders?  Are they recyclable?

  5. I have been to Jacks Shack...it is too far for me with disabilities to get there these days. I may or may not take a cab, or might just stay in Margaritaville like I did last time. Personally if you are spending money at Jack's bar you should not have to pay for a chair / umbrella, that's my opinion. I was curious about the new chair on the beach since the storm. I never had to pay to sit there in the past at the waters edge.

  6. I have heard there is a charge to use the first 4 rows of loungers closest to the water on the beach. However, according to the website for Grand Turk loungers are free. Are the ones trying to collect money for the chairs just hustlers? Anyone have an official answer?

  7. Greyhound is reliable, traffic not so much. You didn't mention your what time you are leaving Mount Laurel or the day of th week. Are their any stops along the way?

I've taken Bolt Bus after a cruise, never to it. Hit an accident on I95, driver said she wasn't allowed to change the route, added two hours to the trip. YMMV

Thanks, we decided to drive ourselves. Parking for the 10 days cruise is 195.00 not too bad for the ease of not dragging luggage all over off and on buses and cabs

  8. I try to avoid departing NY port due to the traffic and high cost of parking. I don't want to park where they valet you to the port in your own car...I do not trust anyone with my car. I was thinking of driving to a Greyhound Terminal in Mount Laurel NJ and taking it to their terminal in NY and grabbing an Uber or cab to the port. Once we used a limo service with another couple and it was over 600. round trip. A senior ticket for Greyhound is cheap and round trip for me would be under $40.00...then got to add a 15 to 20 dollar cab ride...still cheaper than driving or hiring a service. Not sure how reliable Greyhound is...has anyone tried it?

  9. The color codes are basic...interior, balcony...etc etc. But catagories range from A to at least K for interior. It does not state on any of my documents the catagory I have, however I did find the information elsewhere and found on one cruise I have a 4E for one and a 4G for another

  10. I was wondering where or how I find out the particular catagories for my bookings are. They are all inside cabins but not sure of the letter I have. I do know they are better than a B...and I think both bookings are different.

Is there a site i can look up the cabin number to see the catagory?

  11. My husband and I met a man on a cruise that said he was called the day before the cruise and asked if he'd like to go on it. We left out of NY and the man lived in NY...so he had no problem getting there. Who would call him on short notice like that? I'm guessing a PVP and one that knew cabins were still available. Now that hubby and I are retired, we can go at the drop of a dime out of NY, NJ, or Baltimore. All these ports are accessible driving to in a little over 2 hrs time. I'd like to get on a WILL CALL list. Any ideas how to do it?
