  1. From the BBC website,

One crew member has died and four others have been injured, two seriously, after a lifeboat accident on the Harmony of the Seas cruise liner, the world's biggest.

During a stopover in Marseille, the crew were reportedly taking part in a safety exercise when the lifeboat became detached from the fifth deck.

    Thoughts are with all involved.:(:(

  2. That price seems way too high for my liking. Just to compare, my wife, my son and I went on a 14 night med cruise last year from Southampton on Explorer of the seas. Deck 6 Hump balcony all inclusive with grats and parking for only £5k Nearer the cruise it did come down a bit.

This year we are going on a 14 night med cruise again on Indy. All inclusive and free grats again. £4k (no balcony this time though) This is now over £800 cheaper if I book it now plus they are giving $300 obc too. I would wait.

  3. We had the cabin below. 6320

the view is great due to location but the balcony is small, probably same as any other.

the other great thing is the location inside. Stairs and elevators right on your doorstep.

There wasn't any noise from inside but when we sailed towards france, the gulf of lions. It was very windy and this was noticed in our hump cabin.

  4. UK T&Cs mean you lose 50% when there's between 56 and 29 days to the cruise date. I haven't calculated exactly, but that must be very close and possibly passed (might be why they see the price drop now). Likely if that's the case that the cancellation penalty outweighs the price drop.

Yeah! only 57 days left so Cancelling is a definate no no.:(

  5. Hi, we went on explorer last year with the select package. Whilst the select package was fine for me it wasn't so good for the wife as she enjoys coctails and spirits. I upgraded her package to the next one and it worked out approx £10 per day. All she had to drink is 2 cocktails per day and we were up! She basically drank anything she wanted and we never got charged any extra even champagne! Also bottled water is included in the next package up so we all won as she grabbed a bottle now and again to store in our fridge. What i can't get my head round was the fact i could drink myself silly on beers and ciders all day long but could not get bottled water. Crazy!;)

We are on Indy this June again for 2 weeks with the select package i will ofcourse upgrade the wife's again.

  6. You may find that the Scottish schools have broken up for the summer for the 8th July cruise?

We went last year on Explorer end of July-kids running riot,it was the talk of the ship with the couples we met. Having said that,we are still planning on going on Indy this August. I think the Explorer felt cramped when compared to our cruise on Liberty a few year ago-we're going to give it a go anyway, as we have to cruise summer time due to my job:(

If it's a choice between being at home and being surrounded by kids I'll take the latter :)

We went on Explorer last August and yes the kids just ran riot!! I didn't mind it during the day but it seemed worse on the night. It peed me off a few times to be honest. We took our 11yr old with us but he stayed by our side on the night.

We are going on Indy june 18th so hopefully not as many kids. Fingers crossed.

  7. WooHoo, Captain Rick, please be still there, when we get there.:)

    Thanks for your review.:D

LOL Captain Rick was so funny, On our last sea day on this cruise he got his co-ordinates mixed and said over the tannoy that he hadn't got a clue where we were. Then his mobile phone went off and he answered it whilst still on the loud speaker. He then said "sorry about that, that was the cheif engineer and the good news is,, all 4 engines are still working." class

  8. Hi, we are sailing on Explorer in August. Now the wife and i can't find each other in our local supermarket and the mobile phone is the only way we can find one another. We also have our son who is 11 and loves to wonder off. Is there any way we can keep in touch somehow or is it the case of, once we board i will see you in 2 weeks??? Do walkie talkies work on the ships?
