We've seen those taken way from time to time. They are prohibited. They draw too much power and are a fire hazard.
Huh. Really?? I guess I didn't even think about that. I haven't had any issues with it in the past on CCL, but I suppose each line has their own rules. Thanks for the heads up!

Love Liberty! She was berthed out of NJ in 2015 or 16. Have fun!
Thanks!! It's going to be the largest ship we've cruised on yet. Super excited about the amenities!

I'm not an NCL cruiser, but I have an idea for you! If I were you, I would get quotes from this CruiseNext guy, and then compare them to any deals you might see while onboard the Escape. I know CCL usually gives a discounted deal on future cruises when you book while sailing. Perhaps Norwegian does, too?

I was gifted a small steamer that I usually bring with on our cruises. Fantastic (and fast!) for unwrinkling the formal night attire and DH's polo shirts!

Thanks for the musings! :) Our first RCCL cruise is in a bit over a week, and this makes me so excited! We'll be sailing on the Liberty, but we've been talking about how much fun the Anthem and her sisters look.

We've done Mr Sancho's beach, bar-hopping tour, and zip-lining at Chankanaab. We had fun with all of these. It's all about what you want to do! 😊

DH, and I are going on our fifth cruise in about a week. All of our previous cruises have been on Carnival ships, and this time we chose RCI for the price. We are excited to compare and see what we like more about each! We're not picky, either. Very laid back. I'll be sure to report back to you after our cruise!

The rocking feeling goes away after a couple of days (sometimes less). We just laugh it off and say that our bodies are still on vacation! Think of all of the fun parts of the trip, focus on the good stuff and let the not so great things slide, and you're sure to have a great trip!

Agreed. Royal's website is not user-friendly at all compared to Carnival. I shouldn't have to go to another website(s) to find the specifics I need. If not for other sites out there, I wouldn't know what to expect in say, their kids club for example. They have minimal information on their site, and for someone like me who likes to do expanded research and know what I'm going into, it's frustrating to say the least.

We were in Falmouth last week and did not have positive experiences in Jamaica in the past. We hired Steve's Taxi and he gave us a wonderful tour of the local area and Montego Bay. We then went to a beach near the port. Steve waited for us since we had a 2 year old and we were not sure how long he would last. I highly recommend connecting with him prior to arrival. Not sure if I can post the email, but he can be contacted at noelsmith66@yahoo.com
Great to know! Thanks for the info. :)

We're going in February, too! 4th-11th on the LOTS. Woo!
-
By the way, if it helps, we always make sure to set our phones (which we use to keep track of time) so they don't change over when we enter a new time zone. This way we can stick with ship time, no matter where we are.
-
From what I've seen, ships usually tend to stick to ship time when they reference time on the itineraries. :)

There may or may not be a lot of teen activities on any given ship. It depends on the number of kids who show up for each activity. We sailed on the Brilliance out of Harwich during the summer of 2015. There was a teen activity every night, and our 12 year old return promptly at midnight every night.
But, during spring break of 2016 on the Majesty, every activity was cancelled due to lack of interest. Our theory was that so many family groups travel together that, despite there being more than 800 passengers under the age of 18, that teens had enough siblings and/or cousins that they didn't need to go to an activity. So, our only child was in bed before 10 every night, out of sheer boredom.
This is what I'm worried about with our 12yo. She has loved the kids programs in the past, but now that she's considered a "teen" I'm worried she'll get bored. We'll be leaving out on our first RCL cruise (priors have all been on CCL) in February, and last year's spring break cruise had very few kids compared to the previous May cruise. I mean, at least the kids' (3-11) activities are structured and don't tend to get cancelled. I guess we'll be spending extra time with her this go-round if that's the case. :)

I have not experienced anything otherworldly on a cruise and I don't want to actually.
We visited The Myrtles on the way home from a cruise and found it beautiful and peaceful.
We laughed and joked about the ghost tour.
When we got home my daughter and I were loading the photos into the computer and looking at the ones we took at The Myrtles.
As we looked we joked and laughed as we pretended to find ghosts of kitties in the trees and birds and such.
When this picture came up we just sat and said nothing for a while.
I took this myself.
I had it looked at by a girl with a degree in photography and she says it is a reflection.
But a reflection of what.
It was an overcast day and behind the porch was a grassy area.
Notice that part of the reflection is in front of the porch railing and part is behind.
How cool!

We have been on three Triumph cruises and if we go again I do not want the op's cabin.
On one a gentleman in a large family group sitting near us at dinner actually died during dinner.
It was interesting how they handled it.
It was on the upper level and those below were unaware anything was happening.
They still did the singing and dancing and napkin twirling downstairs.
It seemed odd.
And creepy really.
Kind of makes one wonder how much goes on during a cruise, or anywhere really, of which we are unaware.
Oh wow.. I guess they figured, why ruin everyone's dinner? Or that they didn't want a couple hundred people freaking out. I can't imagine going through with dinner after having someone die while I was eating. How sad..

Atheists can still believe in the paranormal. It's just the concept of heaven & hell, or other afterlife beliefs tied to a religion, that would conflict with atheism. I'm a pretty big skeptic, but I do believe that enough evidence has been discovered by reputable sources, and legitimate stories from people, to show there's something going on that we don't fully understand. A lot of people today will cite science when arguing against the paranormal, but I believe it's simply a part of science we have yet to understand. After all, throughout our history there's been plenty of scientific facts that mankind didn't prove by science for long periods of time. So, to me, it's not so far fetched to think the paranormal is simply a plain of existence we've yet to figure out. The problem is, it's viewed as crazy talk and a joke. So unless some very significant & indisputable evidence was to arise, it'll probably never be taken seriously.
Interesting take! :)

Loving the feedback, you guys! Some of your stories give me the creeps!

I really dont know much about this sort of thing, but I have been told that one of my grandmothers had psychic ability, and that I seem to have inherited some to those. Not sure really, but, when i was much younger, I had some very strange experiences, having heard the voices of departed relatives and some other strange occurances. As I got older, I tended to shut those things, feelings, and things out, but occasionally I just dont seem to be able to completely block some things, and at some times when I have been in troubling situations, I seem to have been guided strangely enough out of those.
My point is that I think some of us may have an extra sense that others dont, or that some of us , like myself dont choose to cultivate, and sometimes we are the ones that experience these sort of things, like OP. Some who are not frightened can find ways to deal with such experiences, but I am not one of them. I am interested and tempted but am a bit frightened still. I am however still more intrigued and interested however than frightened.
So maybe the ghost appearances were because she was one of those who had the "open" mind to the paranormal?
dont know but just pondering.
It's so intriguing, isn't it? I'm a very open-minded person, so perhaps you're right about that. I just can't figure out where I stand on ghosts and the paranormal though, as I don't believe in an afterlife.

Scared the c*** out of me!
That's why I didn't click play! :') I saw that one a few years ago on social media and it scared the shiitake out of me then. Haha!

Wait a minute. Did you say the Triumph? My Grandmother sailed with us on the Triumph. She passed away in her sleep on night on our 7 day cruise back in 2011. She loved cruising and always said she wanted to be buried at sea. But her hair wasn't dyed.........it was naturally red. And we didn't stay in cabin 2234. We were up a couple of decks. Of course, she was also dyslexic.
OOOoooooooOOOOOOooohhhhh!
Come again?! [emoji317]Yeah! Come again?! :o

Maybe it is ghost sitting in those pool chairs with the magazines, flip flops, and towels on them. Could it be they are not empty, but haunted??
No chairs hogs, chair phantoms?
Ah, you may be onto something there!

Nope, nope, nope. Not gonna click "play" on that one! :')
Who owns "on hold" cabin, TA or me?
in Royal Caribbean International

As a TA myself, if it's "on hold," the TA who's placed it on hold is the only one with access to it. I would go with your better judgment on which TA to use, and you can always ask for them to re-price it for you. Normally I would say to stick with your original TA, but if you're getting bad service with them, it may be a good idea to switch.
