  1. Oops! Crown Grill. I saw the chain Capital Grill while out driving...:D

Thanks again for the explanations. I thought it would/might cover us. We had such a high balance on our Visa last time I almost fainted. We have a decent amount of OBC now and want to closely monitor it.

  2. Thank you all for the replies. We've been unclear if the OBC we have will cover any of the expenses we know we will rack up including the Capitol Grill, any alcohol we purchase, any Sanctuary visits, etc.

So, If I'm understanding correctly, the OBC can cover these expenses?

  3. We are on the Regal in just over a week (Happy Dance)!

We have OBC and I am wondering what we can use it for.

Drinks, Sanctuary, anything we would normally get charged for? Any help or direction would be appreciated.

  4. I called again and told them that we were really disappointed by not being able to use the ***** and that was the reason for booking that particular cruise (actually true). I also said we wouldn't give up our cabin since we booked one year ago!

They put me through to Customer Relations and gave us and our travel mates $100 each!! I was very impressed by the service and the speed at which it occurred.

The second customer service rep was very professional; the first a total rookie and just "hmmmed and hawwed" no empathy at all and could have cared less.

    I'm happy.

  5. I just called to ask about the ***** email we received; we were told it's a great thing yada, yada, yada. But, you're not apart of it. LOL....I was put through to a very sweet young woman who was going to put us on the waiting list. We would lose our mini-suite with extended balcony, etc. I said no, perhaps we could get the OBC I read about on CC? I punted and decided to ask, why not?

She said sure, let me get Guest Relations on the line and work on that! I was on hold for approximately 12 minutes waiting to hear the verdict.

It is $100 per passenger! Plus, they are giving it to our friends who are sailing with us and basically know nothing about the *****!!

All I can say is that Princess came through like a C-H-A-M-P in Customer Service!!

  6. We're on the Regal next month-January.

I called as suggested. Got zero.

I called back and got put through, after a lengthy wait, to a Medallion Specialist, who put me on a waiting list.

    I would have preferred OBC.

We're in a mini-suite with an extended, angled balcony and don't want to give that up.

Full disclosure-I never outright asked for OBC.

  7. Sorry for the redundant question, however I didn't find this addressed.

If we purchase the all inclusive does it cover coffee in the morning?

And, If we ask for room service delivery of coffee, is it the awful stuff I've read a lot about?

I guess I'm trying to clarify if it's worth ordering a pot of coffee in the morning in the cabin, or will it be so bad that we will barf?

We are on the Regal in a few weeks...

    Thanks for any input!

  8. Thank you for that info! I'll just be waking up at 7:30 so if I go up after a light breakfast and some coffee it sounds like I should be OK? (then again, I will be so excited to be there and with so much to see and do I will really want to get up and go!)

Is there a time limit on the treadmills like at many health clubs? I am a firm 10 minute-per-mile runner (jogger-:p) and like to get in between 3 and 4 miles on a treadmill if possible.

  9. On a Fitness Center related issue:

Is there a better time to go? AM or afternoon? Is is crowded? Are certain machines used more than others? I'm thinking of the treadmills in particular. I'd love to get a couple of runs in while on board.

We're going on the Regal in Feb and I'd love to know all this before hand...

  10. Thank you so much!!

    That list is incredible!

i was wondering about brands of wine and if they would have the beers the husband enjoys. Very helpful!

    I really appreciate it!

Check out the link below for another link to a spreadsheet a helpful poster compiled with prices for the various bars/dining areas on the Princess ships. She created a tool that is very helpful in determining whether the drink package is for of value to you. It also lists the different brands available. It's very thorough.

  11. This will be our second cruise-the last one on Princess was in 2002 so everything is different-that I know.

I've read here over the last month and tried to find answers to my questions and my husband has come up with more for me!

Some friends went on Carnival last year and purchased their version of the Unlimited Drink Package and did their best to get their monies worth. They said that there was a 15 drink maximum per day. Is this true on Princess?

We're going on the Regal in February and wondering about the beer and wine selections and how one is charged if you get the All Inclusive Beverage Package and want a glass of wine that costs over $10.00 a glass-Are there even glasses of wine over $10.00 a glass or are you forced to purchase a bottle?

What brands of beer and wine are available?

If one does not go with the All Inclusive, what are the typical charges for beer, wine and water on board?

Sorry if I missed the thread this was addressed on and thank you for your help and guidance! I am so looking forward to getting on that ship and relaxing!

  12. I really enjoyed the OPs description of why to get a balcony. We took our first cruise in the fall of 2001 on Enchantment of the Seas. We had a friend who was a TA and advised us to get a balcony. We did and loved it!

Our next cruise was to Alaska and again got one on Star Princess. We saw so many sea lions and whales (yes, I swear) from our balcony, it was amazing! Again, we loved it! I would never go back.

Today I just booked us on Royal Princess for February 2015 in a mini-suite. I can't wait! Just knowing we can look out and see the ocean, the fish, the birds, the other ships, etc. excites me!

I'm not too concerned about the balcony area getting too hot. I enjoy the sun and the ability to get away from the crowds if I just want to chill out and relax-well that is the best part. If the furniture isn't too comfortable, throw a towel over it and perhaps a pillow from the bed? It's got to be better than sitting among the throngs by the pool.

Really enjoyed all the comments in the thread. Nice to read the other perspectives.
