Doesn't look like there are very many "FOD" registered. Might just be the 4 of us 🙂

Well, I’m sure there are plenty more. Not many people have been using the FB groups or Cruise Critic. We noticed this on past sailings. We are a group of 5, all gay. So at least 7 of us. 🤪

Tim and I are on the same cruise. This is our 38th cruise but first time on MSC. Usually Celebrity. Do they have lgbt get-together?

Hi! Nice! This will be Alan and I’s 7th cruise together. Alan has been on 32+ cruises. Thanks to him I love cruising!

They do have a get together. They do it once, but it was hosted by staff the last we were on in April! It did really help bring people together. They had free drinks as well, for those not on a alcohol package. I’m hoping it’s just as good as last time. 🙂

  3. Hello Everyone!

Aaron and Alan here! We are traveling on MSC Seaside departing November 24, 2018. We are with a group of 5.

This will be our second time on Seaside and our second time with MSC. We love this ship!

This will make my 7th cruise and Alan’s 30-something, haha. Our past cruises together:

    - MSC Seaside (2018)

    - Norwegian Escape (2017)

    - Carnival Glory (2017)

    - Norwegian Epic (2016)

    - Norwegian Dawn (2016)

    - Carnival Breeze (2015)

We look forward to meeting you on board! Don’t forget about the LGBT meet-up! You can also find us on the apps pre-cruise.

  4. I'll be on the Seaside 3/24 and can check. My take is....if you have 8 devices...it doesn't make a difference. But only 4 at a time can be connected to the service. So if you have a family of 5 only 4 of you could be logged on together at 1x. And it appears MSC plan is just the amount of Data used sensitive

I would appreciate that! I’m thinking the same thing unless MSC uses the device MAC address during registration. It’ll definitely save me some money if it can work like that as I don’t see us using more than 3GB for the week.

  5. Here is the pricing online, not sure onboard.

Still wondering how registering devices works. On NCL you could only be on one device at a time, but could log in and out to use on “unlimited” devices - just not at the same time. Mostly wanting to see if I can get around the 2 device limit on the $79 package when only actively using two devices at a time but being able to switch which active device I need at the time. (ie where me and my partner have internet on phones, but if work needs me I can swap out internet access from my phone to my surface and when I’m done flip it back to my phone)

Also, I’ve seen where others have said after the new plans went active they had been upgraded from the $49 surfer and $79 streamer plan to the new $79 standard plan once onboard as the old plans are no longer usable.

  6. They’ve removed the Social, Surfer, and Streamer and now have Premium or Standard for our pre-purchase selections. Here’s what is on the Seaside for our sailing.

Does anyone know if you can use on “unlimited” devices by logging out and in of an account like on NCL? (When logging out that device no longer has internet access on NCL, but that line monitors minutes instead of data)

  7. im sailing seaside in april and purchased the surfer $44 package only last week. I do see its now removed from website.

i was speaking with MSC today on something else, and mentioned the internet.

I referenced that ppl are suggesting you now have to purchase the package which is at least basically double the cost. Agent assused me absolutely not.

The old package no longer exists, and when i board it will not work. We will receive the standard package ( which is bigger than the surfer) and will not have to pay any extra for it.

as always, i call back a second time knowing i will likely get a different agent, as often it depends on who you speak to what answers you receive..

second agent gave me exact same explanation. Anyone who prepurchased willl receive the upgraded standard package but no additional cost. Very nice.

    Wow. Very nice deal. [emoji108][emoji106]

  8. You can always cancel, why not buy now and if there's a better price cancel and re-buy?

Good point. I'll go ahead and purchase. I didn't think about the option to cancel on pre-purchased items.

Did you remember to keep turning the Wi-fi off after you used it? I had loads left at the end of the week!

I haven't sailed yet. But yes, on NCL I always logged out of the Wi-Fi account to conserve minutes and I'll do the same to conserve data on MSC (NCL does time and not consumption). I really don't need much, just enough to run e-mail, load images and download/upload documents. That's why I was mentioning I should have grabbed the Surfer package while available.

I wanted to mention someone else in another post mentioned that MSC guest service made him re-purchase Wi-Fi as the one that was pre-booked was no longer available and is the reason they couldn't activate their Wi-Fi (I also realize this couldn't be one of those mixed bag customer service help issues... it may have been that they didn't know how to fix their issue other than make them re-purchase and credit them for the original package). They had changed the MB size or something. His package went from ~850MB to 3GB. I'm wondering if the same is going to happen to everyone that's purchased the Social, Surfer or Streamer? Those on this current week's sailing should be able to let us know as the Wi-Fi packages changed this past Friday night/Saturday morning on the US site.

  9. I really hope this isn't the case for when we sail on April 14th. It's already strange enough to be assigned to a buffet designated area for MDR, which I can handle as long as it's presentable, but also sharing an area with an active buffet makes it even less desirable. I guess we will find out. :)

  10. Just off Seaside, had Surfer package included which I thought was 800 or 880 MB, but turned out to be 3,000 MB for 2 devices. Day 4 running low and had two choices to buy.

1,200 MB for $30 (2 devices) or 6,000 for $44.01 (4 devices), this second one purportedly represented a $99 reduction in price. Bought the second one as we had two full sea days to go.

Two items of interest, use up all or most of your time before purchasing a second package, there is NO carryover of time. Second, on day 5 (of 7) another package was offered at a price much higher than $44 and MB’s much lower, I can’t recall the details. It may be a MSC strategy on day 5 if you need internet access, you’ll pay anything. All US pricing.

I kind of wish I would have gone ahead and purchased the Surfer package. I only need internet for work e-mail and bidding on business. Darn. It looks like according to the new packages available for pre-purchase that I have $79 for 3GB. Nervous to buy now or wait if prices get better or worse with how often things change with MSC.

  11. For the prices the previous poster listed in the picture above in US dollars, it is 6 Gig and 3 Gig packages. This is what is listed for my April 7th sailing.

Correct, my apologies. I did this late at night and didn’t realize I hadn’t included the GB size in the photo. :)

  12. I guess the most interesting thing so far about MSC, is stuff changes DAILY.

You no longer have the option of Social, Surfer, or Streamer packages.

You now have even larger (GB) options to choose from. Premium or Standard. I kind of wish I would have purchased the surfer package for ~$49 while it was available, but it was for 800 MB I believe. I only needed it for work e-mail and occasionally answering hotel bid requests. But at least for $79 they've pretty much close to doubled what you get for data.

  13. we were also upgraded to a fantastica balcony on deck 12. we were booked in a bella interior guarantee.

one thing that bothers me... we are in fantastica room but do not get the fantastica experience, that is clearly in the docs and i have called and asked.

we cannot purchase the experience, we would have to purchase a fantastica balcony at 1054 for two???

so basically if you are upgraded from bella to fantastica, you cannot even purcahse the experience.

we got the upgrade within 24 hours.

Same boat as you... all our documents say Fantastica Experience, but we booked Bella. Everyone is telling us that even though it says Fantastica, it's a mistake as the room is a "Fantastica" but because it's an upgrade, you don't get the experience with it. I think MSC also has something in small print somewhere saying when upgraded you keep the experience booked... We plan to just sit back and see what happens. 8-) It's our first MSC, so we don't have our expectations high so that we can hopefully be "wowed". :-)

  14. We are sailing in April on Seaside and we picked a Bella Balcony Guarantee Booked maybe two weeks ago? We were upgraded and assigned very quickly, maybe with-in a few days. MSC upgraded us to a Fantastica Balcony on the 12th floor aft.

  15. We are travelling with only 2 small carry-on bags for this trip. When we get on the ship around noon, is there somewhere we can leave them until our cabin is ready? Or should we just send them onboard with a porter?

    Thanks,

    Tony

We just take small carry-on bags with us as well. Usually a small suitcase and backpack each. Following the thread to see if anyone mentions an area for drop off if cabins aren't ready. I know on some other ships you can drop them off at a designated area like the dance club or comedy club, not sure about MSC. Either way, we tend to just carry it all with us, sit and relax, as well as grab a bite to eat until they are ready.

  16. NCL is pretty much the only cruise line we prefer to be the first group on. This is because of the Posh/Vibe that they sell limited quantities too... It's pretty much the only line I know of that you will have people RUN once their boarding time is called. I've seen people fall trying to get on the ship so fast. We don't have checked luggage at all either, so we are fine getting on any time during the afternoon for MSC. :-D

Edit: I actually don't even think we've looked at our assigned boarding time yet...

  17. Hi Ryan - Sorry we missed you at M&M. I got to meet Tina, etc.

Not sure what deck your cabin was on. For us the smell was bad. I'm a pretty easy going cruiser and went on this trip with low expectations. We had (5) cabins on deck 10, 11, 12 and 14. All (5) cabins had this sewer smell in the hallway and in our cabins. It was difficult to deal with the smell. My 75 year old mom and her friend even complained.

Additionally if you sit near the hot tub on deck 18 it smells there as well. This is the hot tub right next to end of the blue slides.

May I ask if you were forward or aft on 12? Thanks so much!

  18. To be honest this is like most businesses, you usually have to pick one or another, Coke or Pepsi. This is because the distributors have you sign a contract for one product brand or another. I work for a Holiday Inn and we can only serve Coca Cola products because of Licensing

Edit: Haha. Just noticed this was a discussion of noticing multiple threads on coke/Pepsi wars. I shouldn’t try reading CC while walking the dog, lol.

  19. We are doing the same! We are excited to give MSC a shot after being a little underwhelmed with Carnival and Norwegian as of late.

Got a crazy good deal on a Bella balcony, pre purchased the spa package and now thinking about adding a beverage package. We sail in April.
