Loved the Spirit last spring in Alaska. A great flow to the decks.  Lots of space.  Still has table cloths in the mdr.  Nice promenade deck. Constant maintenance going on.  Food was fine.  All in all a fine older ship!

Does the ship have a library that can hold about 20 people for a book discussion?

  2.
You can watch pricing all you want but if you request a quote from a TA who books a high volume of Princess cruises, you can save 10-20% plus OBC and perks. TAs are not allowed to advertise or promote discounted fares so if you're looking at just the Princess website, you're comparing apples to oranges.
I do not believe we had gotten any discount from our TA . We are doing an on your own tour first. The TA feels these do not usually change prices. No OBC either.
  3. We were a deck below , and same location . It was a great location, very quiet. It is however a big walk where ever you go lol You are either going up or down. But, the cabin will be nice and quiet.

I need the quiet for good sleep. I will be happy for the long walks.

  4. I always check pricing for balcony cabins and itinerary against the competition. So far, our cruises to Alaska have had the best deals with Princess for the dates we wanted.

I think it pays to watch pricing even after you have booked a cruise. It really can save you some money "IF" the pricing is lowered and is not for "new bookings only". We save major $$$ on a cruise to Alaska by keeping track of the rates before final payment due date.

What is the best way to keep track of rates? We have booked a September 2016 cruise to alaska with a balcony room. I'm hoping for lower prices ar some point.

  5. Two middle aged adults. We like to explore and learn and have fun.

We want to go on an Alaskan cruise.

Do we use a travel agent? Do we check the websites for best prices? Do the prices fluctuate? When is the best time to book?

I know we want to be as up close to glaciers as possible. I would like to go on the Alaskan railway. I am thinking 8 days in order to give us a few days for a land tour.

    What do you suggest?

This is our second cruise . The first one was NCL 18 years ago.

    Thank you for your answers.
