  1. The CDC recommendations generally apply to someone spending a certain amount if time in a country (certainly more than 8-10 hours) and may be overkill for someone only visiting on a cruise ship port call. In absence of more specific recommendation I don't think I'd take X days (up to five weeks?) of Lariam for a single daylight port visit - the chance of infection is too low and the risk of nasty side effects from the drug is too high. There is currently no effective malaria vaccine (link).

But I think that the normal travel immunizations such as yellow fever and hepatitis A-B are a good idea for someone who travels at any frequency. Isn't typhoid generally given in concert with the standard tetanus shot?

No, not Typhoid. It is Tetanus.

  2. Just received an email from Celebrity. Our overnight in Istanbul has been cancelled, and substituted with a stop in mykonos, this is for the Celebrity Constellation sailing on the 12th of October.

In the mid 2000s our Celebrity cruise cx both Istanbul and Ephesus. Heading out on a land tour mid Sept. Not sure if the tour is going. So far the company says yes.

  3. My wife and I will be cruising on HAL ROTTERDAM beginning Dec 3-2015. We are looking to book a day excursion on Dec 15-2015 from Cadiz to Seville. Our problem is that we are only 2 and we found what looks like a great tour, but the requirement is for a minimum of 10. If anyone is interested here is the link for further information.

Hoping to be in touch with future travelers.

Put this on the cruise roll call page and I am sure you will have many interested in this tour.
