Interesting thread.
We're back just a couple weeks from the Norwegian Gem and they definitely don't have the best food. Actually, the food in their buffet was better than the MDR. One night we went to Cagney's (steak speciality) and it was our worst entree on the ship.
My opinion based on the lines I've cruised with would be
#1 Princess (hope I'm not disappointed come September)
#2 HAL or RCI
#3 Celebrity
#3 NCL
I'd love to try Oceania!

Can anyone speak specifically to how reliable the trains are? Thanks.

Ted, when did you see all these fish at Buck Island? DH and I are going Oct. 11 and had this high on our list until I started reading reviews of dead coral and few fish here and on Trip Advisor. Don't know what to do! I think you may be right in good snorkeling relying somewhat on timing.
Debbie
There really are mixed reviews on Buck Island. I think we'll likely book even with the mixed reviews. Now we just have to decide on who to book with. Big Beard seems to have a lot fo good reviews. I checked on Buck Island Charters -- we can charter one of their boats for just 6 of us for not much more than what the cruiseline charges. But it might be fun to go with a somewhat larger (but not large) group. Decisions, decisions.

I guess I'll have to do some more research. I was really looking forward to Buck Island.

Thank you Serene, I appreciate you answering my question. Thankyou for the advice to get the machines turned down. I guess I won't be worried so much now.
Caro....can you let us know what the noise level was like?

I'm going back to St. Kitts this year. I was there maybe 10 years ago for a week. The taxi drivers were all licensed not only to drive to taxi but had to go to school to learn the history, geography, etc. of the island to be proper tour guides. Sounds like things have slacked off. Too bad.

We were on the Gem in early February and noticed that not all bars carried all beers. Hubby quickly fiigured out which ones had Molson Canadian.
The bar at the Orchid Garden also had Sapparo which they didn't sell anywhere else on the ship. They may have had other Japanese beers but I didn't pay close attention.
