  1. My teens are 14 so yes they are definitely single!

Hello Suzie; thank you so much for your reply. I will for SHORE :-) keep the 4/02/15 option open. I actually used to live in Orlando for almost a year. Love Cape Canaveral :-). I am currently looking to book a cruise in the eastern Mediterranean. I want to hit Athens for sure, Mykonos, and Venice. Any chance you and your teens might be available for a 7-day sailing this coming September or October?

  2. Any other singles going on this cruise? I will be taking 2 teenage girls with me and I really don't think they are going to be spending too much time with me lol:rolleyes:

I am looking for a 2015 cruise to book. A Port Canaveral to Bahamas doesn't sound too bad.

I have cruised solo on my first four cruises, but am now looking to cruise with someone else (not necessarily share the room).

Let me know what you think!

Hey now, your 2 teenage girls are single too, right? So I know, I know, it will be a challenge to make them realize that you are a regular person. We can work on that!

  4. I just booked the Queen Victoria for New Year's Eve. Decided that I wasn't going to be at the mercy of other people and whether or not they will include me in their plans. So, I took matters into my own hands and was awarded for this decision. I booked the cheapest cabin and was upgraded the next day to a balcony!

I have always booked the cheapest cabin, because I know that's the place I'll be spending the least amount of time. So you are booked for 12/31/2015, right? :-)

  5. I booked a western Caribbean 6-day on the Carnival Freedom in January because the price was so low. It will be my first time on Carnival and I'm curious how the solo experience will be. My first cruise ever was on the Norwegian Epic which of course is great for solos because of the studios and the lounge. In fact, that experience spoiled me for my later cruises: as much as I like the service and general experience on RCL, it's not a line that's particularly solo-friendly, in my opinion. I'll never forget my first night at dinner on the Brilliance when the reaction of my dinner companions to my travelling solo ranged from "Bless your heart" to "I would never do that."

I've read on this board that the most solo-welcoming lines are NCL and Carnival so I'm hoping to have a good time. I'm honestly just looking forward to going some place warm for a week with my trusty Kindle at my side.

I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences on Carnival as a solo.

Well, my first and second cruises were on Carnival, and my third and fourth cruises were on Holland America - all were solo cruises.

Personally, I look back and feel that my most comfortable, enjoyable times were on Carnival. It's not that I was at any times uncomfortable on HAL - I can't really explain why. It's possible because I'm a guy, and therefore my fellow travelers decided I had no feelings - I don't know. But I think it was more to do with my comparative youth than feelings. I have more fear of cruising solo now than I did 15 year ago.

  6. Hey Janine - I know your post was from almost a year ago, but I wanted to give you my experience. I went on my first cruise in 2000, aboard Carnival Ecstacy (she's still cruising, lol) - as a solo cruiser. I had such a pleasant time that I went on four more cruises, all solo, through 2004 (one on Carnival Triumph, two with Holland America.) I enjoyed them all. I think on all of them I encountered delightful people, who thought it was perfectly awesome that I was cruising solo. On one occassion, I was able to be the paddle-partner in an ocean-kayak of a woman whose husband was golfing that day. Another time, I was able to be the paddle-partner of a young airline stewardess who was cruising with her parents. I must say I think she was becoming smitten with me up until she discovered that I was 14 years her senior! :-) lol. Fun while it lasted. :-)

I will close this by admitting this though: I really do not want to cruise solo again. It's not that the previous times were bad, but I just don't feel as bold and brave as I used to. I suppose people go through phases in their lives, and at this stage I want a cruise partner for my next cruise. Good luck. Edit - I'm not suggesting I want to share a room! It's the time outside the room that I want a partner for.
