  1. I was on the oasis last month and didn't bother going to see CATS.

I would imagine it is not the fault of the cast themselves - I went to see CATS in Dublin a couple of years ago and if I'd been on a ship that day I'd have left during the intermission.

My other half would be a bigger musical fan than I would be and she said the same; so i'm not at all surprised people aren't bothering with the second half of it on the Oasis when it is so easy to go off and do any number of other things

  2. What is a standard cabana--are they the ones on Adrenaline Beach. Is this beach available to swim if one does not have a cabana.

I would assume they are talking about the cabanas on Neales (sp) beach. the suite cabanas are on Barefoot beach.

  3. For the barefoot beach cabanas, I know they are only available to Suite guests - but what is my best bet for getting on? My cruise is in October, so I may be too early, but don't want to miss out. I mailed the concierge (I think, two emails addresses I found on here) at the weekend and I'm waiting for a response. I presume there is nothing else I can do, correct?

  4. The other half will be looking to get her nails done on the ship - she will need an acrylic in-fill (to top up her wedding nails). Does anyone know for sure if Vitality at Sea do this? I've seen it on a price list posted online previously (from 2013 i think....) but it isn't on the cruise planner as an option. Does the spa offer more than can be booked via the cruise planner, and is there any way to book in advance?

  5. myself and the wife to be were planning on doing a dolphin/dunns rivrer falls excursion on the falmouth leg of our cruise in october, but the excurions we had looked at have been removed from the cruise planner online - nothing else is taking our fancy. Is there much do around the port itself - shopping etc - to make a day of it, or do we need to bite the bullet and just pick an excursion?

We are already doing a beach day in Labadee, and will likely do a dolphin experience on the Mexico leg.

  6. It has been said before, but Cats is a very eclectic show that has a number of smaller stories embedded in a generally simple story and can become somewhat hard to follow. It has also been suggested that reading TS Elliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" beforehand would help with the understanding and following the various storylines. And this is the root of most claims of it not being very good (eclectic, hard to follow story).

No idea what show you are talking about! I've seen it. There is hardly a story to follow, never mind it being hard to follow. There is what amounts to a terrible overall story, and then a pile of "I'm a cat and this is what I do as a cat" songs, which have little relevance to anything. Only song that was any good is Memories, and I would say that is because it is the only song that actually does have a story and feeling to it. Loved that song and performance, but the rest of it was an irrelevant mess of nothingness. Wish I had been on the boat seeing it, to be honest, cause I could have left and done something else! The other half hated it as well, for the same reasons, which she is gutted about because she had been waiting years to see it. At least Wicked (the other half of her birthday present) was brilliant.

  7. Hi all,

Myself and my wife to be are honeymooning on the Oasis in October. She has her heart set on the Dolphin swim in Jamaica, but we can't work out which of the shore excursions we should be booking as the desciptions of FY22 and FY24 are very similar.

FY22 - Dolphin Touch Experience & Dunns River Falls with Lunch

"Kiss the face of a bottlenose

dolphin as you swim and play, then enjoy lunch and free time"

FY24 - Dolphin Encounter Swim and Dunns River Falls with Lunch

"you will have the opportunity to swim belly to belly with some of the

    world's most gentle dolphins"

From looking on the Dolphin Cove website they have 3 possible packages:

    1. Encounter with a Dophin: you will have an amazing encounter as you enter the world of these gentle dolphins. They will give you a kiss and allow you to caress them while standing in knee deep water

    2. Swim with a Dolphin: interact with one dolphin while swimming in the deep. Enjoy a kiss, try a dance, perhaps you will get a splash or two and have a real up close experience

    3. Ultimate Swim: interact with two dolphins while swimming in the deep. You participate in a brief presentation after which, you enter the world of these amazing creatures

We want to do either the Swim or the Ultimate swim, but we can't work out if they are FY22 or FY24, respectively. It is the mention of swimming in FY22 that is tripping me up, otherwise I would think it is the Encounter Option.

Anyone done the excursion and can tell me exactly which I should be booking?

    Thanks.
