  1. You guys are awesome! Thanks for the advice!!

He has actually transitioned into the "ground" stage according to the booklet that was provided by his surgeons office and nutritionist. He has been doing really well (thankfully) and his spirits are still very high. We recently received an upgrade from an interior to a balcony guarantee on our November cruise, so he is really looking forward to having that balcony to relax on without all the commotion of the main deck.

We got the water package so he should be good with that as well as the tips you guys have provided. Thanks again!!!

  2. The only reason we’ll be getting the internet package on our upcoming cruise will be to take advantage of WiFi calling. My grandparents health is starting to decline unfortunately, so keeping in touch is important.

However, checking email (personal & work) as well as social media will not be opened up whatsoever. Sometimes it’s good to disconnect from those for a while.

  3. I can say that I personally didn't feel that three days was long enough. We are going back later this year to cover the island, as we still didn't get to see everything that we wanted to see when we were last there. Although, our last day was cut short due to hurricane Matthew/Nicole.

  4. We had a friend out visiting for the holiday from Arizona. She was due to fly back yesterday (Thursday) out of Bradley in Windsor Locks, CT but her flight was also canceled. Fortunately, she was able to get a flight later this afternoon.

I wish you all the best in finding a flight, and hope that you can still make your cruise!!

  5. The saga is over!

I called the general 800 number and spoke with a rep, explaining the trouble I've been having. She immediately removed the insurance, and sent me an updated invoice. Not sure why we couldn't have done that originally, but at least it has been resolved.

  6. I understand what your saying, however, I requested that it be removed several times and each time I've been told that it has been removed. Upon further investigation, the confirmations that I have been sent after these conversations still show the insurance rolled into the total and included.

I'm not saying that they are not doing a good job of making it clear that it is still linked, but they don't seem to be understanding that I no longer want it. I figured this would be pretty cut and dry; I make the call, they remove it and send me an updated invoice. Done deal.

I'm not sure why it isn't just that easy.

  7. This also just happened to me!

Placed a hold without insurance, then a PCC called and we placed the deposit with him. Somehow, the insurance was added. I called him right back, and he told me that as of May 1st, the policy had changed and therefore NCL automatically added the insurance to each and every new reservation with the option to opt out before final payment date. I told him I wanted it removed, he said no problem. Turns out, it was never removed. So, I called back tonight and got a different PCC. She said it would be removed, I was sent an updated confirmation without the charge. I thought I was all set. Before bed tonight, I checked MyNCL again just to make sure, and look at that, the $381 charge was back on my account.

I'm at a loss. When I call the general NCL number, as soon as they get my reservation number, they want to transfer me back to my PCC. Who can I call to have this removed once and for all?

  8. Looks like I spoke too soon!

Somehow, the insurance has made it back onto a confirmation, and is now showing again after being removed from the Payments section of MyNCL.

Who the heck can I contact to have this removed once and for all? Do these PCCs really think I wouldn't notice the extra $318 charge?

The thing is, whenever I call they see who my PCC is and try to transfer me back to him. Tonight, I got another PCC only because mine was out of the office. I thought she finally removed it, but turns out she didn't.

  9. Agreed, sounds like the typical tactics that many PCCs use. I don't think anything changed on May 1, probably just a line they were feeding you.

    Most likely.

After hearing that you can remove it before final payment date, most probably forget that it's there and end up purchasing it inadvertently.

I understand these folks have to make money, but I feel they should maybe go about it with a more honest approach.
