  1. Hi Danish Viking,

First of all I would like to thank you for the 2 day walking google map you created for me. We had a wonderful time here 2 days pre- cruise. Although we missed one or two places to visit each day, majority were covered. Copenhagen is a beautiful city and local resident are really helpful to guide us with directions and questions. Thanks again.

  2. Hi Danish Viking,

We have a flight delay and won't arrive until 9:00 pm. Would like to know if the Copenhagen card can be picked up at airport after we arrive since we need it to take the train. Also if the train to Copenhagen Central Station (We are staying at Scandic Copenhagen) will still be running after we arrive. Thanks.

  3. Just want to make sure that there will be currency exchange at Copenhagen airport so that I can exchange local currency or other currency upon arrival. I would prefer to limit any ATM withdrawal or exchange currency before flying out of US since I don't need too much and will try to use credit card as much as possible. Also since our flight does't arrive until 7pm, just want to confirm currency exchange will still be open if there is one. Thanks.

  4. Its a pretty big room and there was a pretty good crowd but I had no issues. There is two sets of identical food laid out so you can pick and choose pretty easily.

About two blocks away (you pass by when heading to Trivoli) are a couple of local supermarkets if you need some goodies. There also seemed to be a Burger King every other block if you're homesick

Thanks for the information. Looking forward to our stay for 3 nights pre-cruise on 6/9/17.

  5. Scandic Copenhagen is a very short 5-10 minute walk at most to Trivoli. I stayed there last year and will again this fall. Very nice breakfast buffet. Thru the hotel I booked a full day tour out into the countryside and visited the two big castles, plus several other stops. Well worth the time and $$.

Personally I'd skip the Little Mermaid, as someone mentioned you can see it from the canal boat tour. It is often listed as one of the most overrated tourist spots in the world.

Have to agreed with you that Little Mermaid is somehow overrated. Will consider skipping it since I can see from the boat tour.

So where there a huge crowd for breakfast in the morning at Scandic Copenhagen? Have to plan in advance to avoid any delay in sightseeing. Thanks.

  6. Hi Danish Viking,

After carefully review the excellent walking map you created, I think that there should be sufficient time to accomplish both days. The only changes I made for both days will be to either add Netto Boat (Holmes's church) or Canal boat (Gammel Strand) on the first day.

As for 2nd day, I would start backwards from Rosenberg castle first and work my way back to Tivoli since Rosenberg castle closes at 4:00 pm.

Thanks again for the excellent walking map you've created. It is very helpful.

    Regards,

    Jason

  7. Sorry, I didn't realize you were staying at another Scandic hotel. That was pretty cool to create those maps. CPH is a very walkable city... as I said prior that I would def do Tivioli at night since it will be open until midnight and I think the fireworks on Sat night.

If you get a chance to stop by La Glace for a coffee break, DO IT! http://laglace.dk/en/

Again don't forget during your visit the city hall tower will only have a tour at noon only. I would def visit Round tower, it's included with your card and open late, perhaps go for sunset but it may be late in June.

We did the canal tour on the morning of the cruise. We got the first one at 10am and then headed back to hotel to pick up bags to head to the port. We boarded immediately on arrival so the crowds had died down already.

No worries Anthonyy7. It does get confusing where the hotel names are so similar. Thanks again for the advice. I will definitely take La Glace into consideration since we will definitely need a lot of breaks in between. It's always good to see people helping each other with advices on places they been to.

  8. Not really, I would say that the zoo and Blue Planet aquarium is worth visiting but they will require 15-30 minutes of extra travel time.

THe only thing I will add is that you probably want to be at Amalienborg around noon for the changing of the guard, so start at the little mermaid around 10:30.

If you want to start your day a little early you can take a promenade walk on Langelinie before going to the little mermaid.

But do it on the 10th of June where Seabourne Quest and Zuiderdam is docked at Langelinie.

Thanks for the input again. I will take the zoo and Blue planet aquarium into consideration if we have extra time since I already purchased the Copenhagen card. May I know why do it on June 10th when the 2 cruise ships are at port. Isn't Langelinie going to be crowded when cruise ships are at port so that it will take more time to maneuver around?

    Hi Danish Viking,

Thank you very much for this route guide. It will definitely help me to plan this trip more efficiently. Just by looking at the route guide for both days, was wondering if we will be able fit in everything per day without rushing. We will start each day approximately at 9:30 am and not spend excessive time at each stop. I figure there is a lot of walking each day, but with many stops in between for breaks, it's not too bad. We will possibly take the bus or metro back after the end of tour to Tivoli Gardens to save time.

In addition any other sites within the city you recommend that I've missed?

    Thank you.

  10. I will try to make a walking route in the weekend.

Just one thing I must add, Anthonyy7 has given some good advice but it seems like you have mixed up Scandic Copenhagen and Scandic Palace.

Because Palace is the one close to Tivoli and next to Strøget.

Scandic Copenhagen is located next to the lakes not long from Vesterport station.

Tivoli and Strøget are still in walking distance but probably 10 minutes away.

Thank you Danish Viking in advance for the walking route. Looking forward to it. I just double check and confirm that the hotel is Scandic Copenhagen by Tycho Brahe Planetarium. The Copenhagen Central Station is about 7 minutes walking distance away which is feasible to roll the luggages over.

  11. You won't be able to do it the day of the cruise. I would suggest going the day prior and leaving things for the day you leave. The morning of the cruise, we did the canal boat ride. The national museum is close to the hotel so that could be done as well after the canal going back to the hotel to get luggage. When is your return flight? Ours was at 3pm and we left the ship early and got in a couple sights before going to the airport. The main station has a luggage holding area. So an option if you miss something or have a later flight.

Frederiksborg and it's gardens with the lake is better in my mind. It opens earlier at 10am so we went there first by train. Walked to the palace and took the ferry back across the lake (included with card) and had lunch in the town square. We then headed to kronborg and back to copenhagen. It was a 830a-6p day and we didn't really rush. Putting everything in google maps helps with the route to take and train times.

    Hi Anthonyy7,

Unfortunately our flight is at 1:40pm and I have already book Shuttle service from port to airport, therefore your suggestion will not work. I will try to see if I can do it the day prior by moving plans around. Only wish I can spend an extra day in Copenhagen. Thanks.

  12. Tivoli will be close to your hotel so I would leave it to fill in any extra time you have in the evenings which is what we did. You will get access once per day. So a 3 day card will let you go 3x.

Personally I would visit the Round Tower which is included in the card over the city hall tower which has strict access times.

Stroget street is by the hotel and you'll use it to get to most places so you don't need to set aside much time for that. Honestly it's best early morning when it's near empty. Some of the adjacent streets are even better even if they have cars.

You can see the little mermaid from the canal boat vs walking down there which is a bit out of the way.

Since your getting a CPH card, I would cut a few things and spend one day going north to see Kronborg and Frederiksborg castle which would cover everything. It will be blow any of those ones in the city away.

Thanks Anthonyy7 for the info. Good suggestion on both the Kronborg and Fredericksburg castle which I never thought about visiting due to the distance. If you only have time to visit one, which one would you visit? Also which transportation option you took to get there and the travel time? I will try to squeeze it into my tight schedule. Perhaps the morning before I head out to the cruise port.

  13. You could probably pack it all in with some strategic planning, but do prioritize by putting the things you might be willing to cut later in the schedule, so that if you find you want to linger someplace, you won't feel like you're missing something you'd regret. For example, my husband and son happily gave up a Stroget stroll for an extended visit to Royal Danish Arsenal Museum near Christianborg. (The one sight that took me more time than expected was the National Museum. Their early Danish history galleries were amazing.)

Thanks trosebery for the info. I am sure many of my schedule will change at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. It happen to us many times. I will try to stick with my plan and try to cover all the areas if not more.

  14. I don't know if you can see everything, but what was helpful for me was to check the weather immediately upon arrival. It was best right after we landed, so we ran to the Netto boats immediately. That was a lovely boat ride in the nice weather, but I don't think we'd have loved it in the rain.

Also, Tivoli gardens are lovely at twilight and at night, plus everything else is closed then so I'd aim to visit that later.

Thanks Kitkat343 for your input. Hopefully the weather will be fine when we visit in June. I will definitely save Tivoli Garden in the evening since most of the museum/castle/palace close by 17:00.

  15. I would group Gefion, The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg, Nyhavn, Netto boats, Church of our saviour, Christianshavn and add Copenhagen Street Food for lunch.

    Then Tivoli at night

City Hall, Glyptoteket, National Museum, Christiansborg, Strøget and Rosenborg Castle, here I can add Rundetaarn (the round tower) and Torvehallerne food market.

If you tell me the dates and where you are staying I could try to map it.

Thank you Danish Viking for your assistance on the trip plan. Our family will arrive in Copenhagen on June 9, 2017 at 18:00. That gives us 2 full days of sight seeing on June 10th and 11th. Will go on a cruise on June 12th and head to port around noon. We are staying at Scandic Copenhagen. Already purchased the Copenhagen Card therefore will take advantage of free metro/train/bus ride to save time. Hopefully the 2 full days of sightseeing will cover all of the sites I scheduled if not more. Thanks again.

  16. Our family will arrive in Copenhagen with 2 full days of sightseeing pre-cruise. Just wondering if the list I created is possible for 2 full days. Tivoli Gardens and other sites does not require entrance will be visited in the evening to save time and I also purchased Copenhagen card to maneuver a little quicker with free transportation.

    1) Tivoli Garden

    2) Amalienborg

    3) Christianborg Palace

    4) Rosenborg Castle

    5) Church of our Savior

    6) City Hall Tower

    7) The National Museum

    8) Netto boats

    9) Nyhavn

    10) Christianshavn

    11) Gefionspringvandet

    12) Stroeget

    13) The Little Mermaid

    14) Glyptoteket

    Thanks.

  17. Our family will be visiting Copenhagen in June on a cruise and after some research, noticed that I can take the train from CPH to Copenhagen Central Station where our hotel (Scandic Copenhagen) is only 8 minutes walk from the station. Would like to know if the train will allow luggages. We are a family of 4 with 3 check in luggage's and 2 carry on's. Thanks.
