  1. Personally, I would never go off on my own anywhere in Jamaica. Especially Falmouth. I was there in Feb 2015, and it is not safe. I would only go with cruise sponsored excursions.

Of course everyone has their own comfort level. I've explored West Africa on my own along with rural Colombia and countless places across SE Asia.

Curious though, what did you see that you have deemed Falmouth unsafe? From what I've read, the town and surrounding area is prone to aggressive vendors but those people are usually easy to fend off.

  2. A friend and I will be docking at Falmouth in a few weeks on the Allure. We're in our early 20s and are usually adventure travelers so group tours and hitting the main tourist traps aren't usually our thing but we got a great deal on the cruise. We aren't huge 'lay on the beach all day' people either.

So with that, any suggestions for Falmouth? I'm a photographer as well so, if there are any on this board, any recommendations for locations/times, etc?

  3. That's going to be tough on that tight of a budget. The best thing I could think of would be the Cruzan rum tour (you can catch a hell of a buzz for $8) but I think the cab fare would break your wallets.

Probably the best idea would be to stay in Frederiksted and wander around, there's lots of little local bars with $5 chicken and $2 beers to keep you busy and you can enjoy the sights and culture.

If I may ask, where are you from?

Thanks, I figured that's what we were going to end up with on that budget. I'm from Tampa by the way.

  4. What's the best way to get to the Concorde Experience from the pier? We're aviation buffs so this is something we'd like to see. From my reading it seems a cab should be about $25USD each way.

We're in our 20s and fit so it looks like the bus could be an option. Looks to be about a 1.5 mile walk the station then about a 45 minute ride up to the airport but it's significantly cheaper.

We want to leave the other half of the day to explore Bridgetown or maybe a short hike or something.

  5. I'm on the Adventure of the Seas which will be stopping in St. Kitts in about 2 weeks. I was reading about hiking the volcano but I'm not too fond of how much time that takes out of the day as we wanted to hit the fortress as well.

Going to be 3 fit 22 year old males so difficulty level is fairly low. Any hikes around the city that are fairly quick/worth it? We're trying to keep the whole day (minus food/drinks) under $60/person.

  6. Going to be stopping in St. Croix on the Adventure of the Seas in two weeks. Going to be 3 ~22 year old males. We each budgeted a certain amount for the 6 islands and unfortunately left St. Croix for last.

Anything we can do for ~$30/person? If no it looks like it'll be a half day of walking around or something.
