The chances of an upgrade bid acceptance on a fully booked cruise must be very remote, correct? We are booked on the Pearl for Alaska on Aug 19, and I bid on a balcony and a mini-suite. I just noticed that the cruise is fully booked, so doesn't that make my acceptance chances impossible?

Hello,
This is our first cruise, and we're doing a round trip NCL Seattle Alaska cruise in August. We're taking 2 days before the cruise for Olympic National Park and one day for Boeing and maybe a few smaller things. The logistics of getting a rental car to the port on the day of the cruise seems too difficult, and any cost savings don't seem to be worth it. I'm planning on getting the rental car from SeaTac, keeping it until the day of the cruise (leaves 4pm), and the taking it back to the airport and taking NCL's $20/person shuttle to the port for 4 people. Does this make sense? This gives me the choice of the most and cheapest rental cars at the airport.

We've been on NCL a few times, and love the "freestyle" cruising. I noticed you need to pick your dinner seating time and we're not used to that with NCL. Can you get your own table (not sit with strangers)? How does MSC compare? Are there specific nights you need to be dressed up, can you just be casual, are restaurants by reservations only? We're looking at a Rome-Barcelona...any specific comments about this cruise experience compared to NCL? Thank you!
