  1. I have been to Serenity Bay a couple of times and there are a lot of chairs and umbrellas for shade available - you should have no problem finding one.  There is a bar area but didn't observe how shady it was, but there is ample shade at the barbecue area where you eat lunch. Lots of umbrellas on the family beaches too.

1 hour to Canaveral, 2 hours Tampa, 3 hours Port Everglades .

This!^ I live in central Fla and live 2 hours from Port Canaveral, 1 hour 45 mins from Tampa and 3 hours from Miami. So fortunate to be able to take quick 3-night cruises over a long weekend - although it's still too short! LOL

We just booked this cruise for next summer on the Escape!  I have read only good things about this itinerary and we are so excited!

We are also booked on a Baltic cruise on the Escape travelling in June 2020 - can't wait!

This is insane, but we are waiting for our son to turn 18 for us go to back on a Disney ship.  We LOVE Disney cruising but they are VERY strict about the adult only areas and specialty dining so we are waiting for our almost 16 year old to be able to join us in all the adult venues, in particular, Palo and Remy.

Oh I can totally sympathize with you, our daughter turns 18 in 18 months and we can't wait for her to be able to join us in Palo for brunch and also go to Serenity Bay

  5. 7 DCL cruises so far, and 2 of them have been with adults only.  We really enjoyed some of the adults-only areas, including the pool area, Cove Cafe (for specialty coffees, cocktails etc), nightclub area (Skyline Lounge on the Dream is my favorite) and Palo brunch!  Also, Serenity Bay is quiet and relaxing.  DCL is definitely not just for kids!

And thanks to PP for the comment about unsupervised children in the MDRs. Yes' date=' we've seen them many times. Of course, we've also seen great, well behaved kids.[/quote']

You bet! And I agree with you, I have seen a lot of well behaved kids in the MDRs, the vast majority are:)

  7. my last two DCL cruises were both on the Dream.

On one i had early dining, on the other i had late dining.

both dining times were relatively sedate - except for animators palate, which is a bit noisy from the dining room itself, not so much the people eating in it......

and still no children running around..

Well just because you haven’t observed it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen from time to time, so don’t discount others’ experiences dealing with it. I have been on 5 Disney cruises so far, 4 on the Dream, and I have witnessed kids racing around tables or just generally being in the way and unsupervised by their parents, causing problems for the servers.

  8. Well while reading this is concerning, we are booked on the crown for June 2018 Mediterranean , Greek island cruise. The itinerary is so fantastic, Rome, Salerno, Corfu, Crete, Mykonos, kotor Montenegro and Athens that ill hope the crown improves by then. Any others here have any positive comments regarding the Crown. ?

We are booked on this cruise for next year too and now I'm getting a little bit nervous:o

  9. In the last few years we have done a couple of 3-night Disney cruises and a 7 night Barcelona trip during the school year and we found that it was easiest for our daughter to do her schoolwork in the late afternoons in our cabin/hotel room after sightseeing. Also we eat earlier in the evening when we travel with her so she has time in the evening after dinner to spend on the schoolwork.

  10. Considering that only 50% of adults in the US carry any credit card debt monthly and most that do have under $10K in debt, I don't think the numbers are as high as you suspect.

Now if we are talking about having savings, it's a different conversation. Most Americans do not have nearly enough of that.

Really? Because one 2015 survey I read recently had the average household credit card debt at around $15,300. I work as a credit analyst in a locally-owned bank and I pull credit reports daily and frankly it's rare to see a couple/family with less than $10,000 in credit card debt. People definitely use different methods to pay for their vacations, and it wouldn't surprise me if many young families use credit cards to pay for them, especially a vacation as expensive as a Disney cruise.
