Have just returned from 14 nights on Azura and can confirm that this is so. Could not be bothered with the faff of the so called app so just turned up at the MDR when I was ready to dine. I never had to wait for a shared table, although tables for two seemed to be at a premium.

The tables for two always make me smile, you end up sitting so close to other tables for two you might as well be at a shared table for six.

Sorry I should have been clearer.  I'm on Britannia.  Masks compliance walking around is near 100%.  If you don't have any your cabin steward or reception can supply some.  We weren't told before hand we may be required to don them en route but common sense says it wouldn't be a surprise.  Like anywhere if I'm asked / told to comply then I will.

Given it's a moving beast and we weren't sure what the score was in each country we visited, especially as I like riding the public transport in various locations (busmans holiday), then I packed some anyway.  Even back home in the UK I carry one round in my bag even though I've not worn one since the mandate was withdrawn.

I’m on Britannia too. Like you, we brought masks with us, I’m the one person still wearing one in Sainsburys! 😆

It’s been a brilliant cruise and we’ve loved it. 😊

In my opinion... yes.  Masks went on pretty much after the announcement was made.  I was genuinely surprised at the take up.  You see the odd person but that appears to be forgetting rather than rebellion.

I’m on board as well and this is my take too. Practically everybody wearing them when walking around.

I've just checked the one on C deck and that is open so assume they are all open.

    Thank you so much. 😘

    Have a great cruise. 😊

They will not be capacious enough to take a large laptop.  I suggest A4 is the largest size that will fit into the cabin safe.  Beyond this I would stash my laptop in my suitcase under the bed.

    Regards John

Nothing to do with the thread I just wanted to say 'capacious' is a lovely word. 🙂

  6. I think you have missed the point here, which is that they shouldn’t be ‘put away’ at all!

I was being facetious! What do you do with them then? And how dirty is everybody?

  7. They havent gone back to there "old ways" but if a cruise isnt selling well or they perhaps have had a lot of cancellations due to current worry about Russia what are they supposed to do sail with a half empty ships or reduce price to try and fill the ship. They and all cruise comapnies and land based options use the option to reduce prices if a particular holiday isnt selling well.

What?! I’m supposed to be worried about Russia too?

I took your advice, cancelled and rebooked saving about £1080. :)

  8. If I was you I would consider cancelling it and losing your deposit and then rebook at the lower price you might be better off.

I'm thinking about it, I paid 15% deposit so around £980.00, I wouldn't save £2000 but I'd save just over £1000 which could get us a lot of wine on the cruise!

Obviously I'm bloody rubbish at booking cruises. :o:o

  9. Had a look at the pricing for that cruise. The prices seem to be about the same as when the cruise started booking, I take it you booked in autumn last year when the prices were at there highest.

This confirms what I said earlier book at the beginning not in the middle of the process. You could wait and sometimes you will get a good deal but it will only be around the starting price.

I booked late May. I appreciate the prices go up and down depending on demand. Who knows, it could go up again tomorrow. I'm going to stop looking! :D

  10. I'm Australian and am married to an Englishman and have lived in England for 15 years. Every two years we fly home to Australia for Christmas and I usually require quite a few G&Ts to ensure the plane doesn't crash (stupid fear I know). My boss cruises a lot and kept telling me I'd love it so in September 2015 we did a eleven day cruise around Spain, France and Portugal on Britannia. He was right. I loved the ease of driving to Southampton, dropping the car off, unpacking suitcases and staying put whilst waking up every morning in a different port. I loved the food, the music, the bars, the pools, the dressing up for dinner. I loved the sound of the sea right outside the cabin door. So far we have been on three cruises, all with P&O and all on Britannia. We are booked on a Canary Islands cruise next year on the same ship. I know we probably need to branch out and that other cruise lines leave from Southampton.

We're off to Australia in December, get the G&Ts ready!!

  11. I've been thinking about soot and the effect of climate. Applying what I remember of the laws of physics from school (not much haha), I think if soot exits via warm air then hits cold air it will cool and fall. If on the other hand soot exits via warm air from the funnel but hits warm air it is more likely to be suspended for longer until it is away from the ship. I am on Britannia from 30th Sept sailing to the canaries, being rather sad I will conduct an un/scientific experiment as I imagine we will experience multiple temperatures. [emoji23]

I'll be interested to read your findings as we're in E743 on that exact same cruise next year in Sept. :D

To be honest the soot hasn't really bothered us that much on the three aft suites we've had. You've just got to remember it's there. The massive balcony, the gorgeous view and the fact that we're lucky enough to indulge in cruising should make the soot redundant! First world problems and all that.

Can't wait to hear what you think of the suite. :)

  12. We were on B deck, B724, for the six night cruise that ended this morning and we did hear music from the Live Lounge on a couple of nights. It wasn't intrusive more of a dull thud thud. It didn't stop us from sleeping. In May we were in a corner suite on A deck and didn't hear a thing.

  13. I for one think it is a good thing. What I would like to see is a time limit put on it. If muster is called at 4.15 anyone who has not swiped in by 4.30 should receive some kind of punishment (unless they have a valid reason for being late). How about their cruise card de activated, then they will have to go to reception to get it re activated. Most people get to the muster station in plenty of time, then have to sit waiting for the people who think they can just take their time in getting to it. On my last cruise the muster was called and it was a good 40 minutes before it started and even then people came strolling in. They were not late arrivals as the gangways were cleared before muster was called.

'Some kind of punishment', it's a bloody cruise not boot camp!:D

  14. At last........ another passenger that doesn't like Lanlard's afternoon tea :*

Its also like the other lines that have started introducing ramped up prices for "Premium All Inclusive" and then complain that people are visiting the bar too often.

We didn't like it either, style over substance I thought and what is with the duck in between a chocolate macaron?! The tea was good though.
