  1. Sorry, but @RuthC is incorrect. Bottled water IS NOT counted in the 15 drink maximum for the HAL beverage packages. The 15 drink limit only applies to alcoholic beverages, so sodas are not counted either.

This makes me feel better. I guess I will have to call to make sure this is true?!?

  2. There's no charge for tap water, which is what is served in the dining venues, bars, and from which the ice in other drinks is made. It is perfectly fine to drink.

There is a charge for bottled water. When on the SBP, both the small bottles and the large bottles count as one drink of the 15 per day.

If you do want to go over the 15/day limit, you are free to do so; you aren't cut off based solely on that. The only thing is those extra drinks would be charged to your cabin account. So, have the more expensive drinks charged to your SBP, and save the less expensive drinks for the cabin card.

Also, if there is a day when you aren't going to have 15 drinks, purchase some bottles of water to save for another day when you will go over 15.

Got it. So it's 15 limit counted each day. Is there a different card for the beverage package?

  3. You didn't mention alcoholic beverages, just soda and water. Water is free, and 15 sodas or flavored sparkoing water s astounding. This, I confess, is from someone who drinks too little water. But why are you even considering the SBP and $49/day pp.?

Yes, I do drink alcoholic beverages. Being awake from 7 a.m. to about 1 a.m. with only 15 beverages is a long time in a warm climate. I drink at least two liters of my favorite bottled water during the winter and more in the summer. Drinks on cruise ships are small.

I felt water would be charged for, unless maybe it is not bottled?

  4. I think it's crazy that it limits you to 15 a day. That is not much at all. I am always thirsty so drink a lot, soda, water, and so on. Do they just figure 15 X 7 days = 105 and stop you at 105 total? Or is it shut off at 15 every day? I will be bringing a case of water on board. Can I bring a case of flavored sparkling water? That is what I normally drink.

  5. I am confused about the specialty dining packages. Does the money you pay just include being able to go there and then you have to also pay for the meals? Or does the price paid for the package include the meal? Sailing on 14 night Eclipse cruise in November.

  6. I don't think this would benefit me. Last Christmas i upgraded to the premium package because of the wines available on the classic were not to my liking. Add a few coffees and some martinis or premium drinks , I think the upgrade is worth it for me.

I will be pleased to find out how this works for most.

I think it will be worth it for me too. I like frozen mudslides (Bailey's, Kahlua and vodka) which I think would be premium, and chocolate and espresso martinis that I also think are premium. Do they have molecular drinks on the Eclipse?

  7. Let's wait and see what happens. Some will like it, some won't. Main factors are; what liquors are they switching from classic to premium, and number of days on your cruise. We always upgrade one of our packages to premium. If you want it, you get it. No standing there like a cow getting milked, waiting to see if you are allowed to have a certain drink or not. Then the bartender tells you no, and everyone around hears and they all look funny at you. Now you are holding up the line. Fellow passengers hate you. That's not happening. It just happens that during the course of a long grueling cruise, upgrading works for us. Savings on the new proposed plan may not be all that much for us personally. Again others will be different.

What do you mean, one of your packages? Can only one person upgrade? I like drinks, my husband beer, so the premium is good for me, the classic for him.

  8. If your port is Costa Maya you will not be able to find playa uvas. Costa Maya is in the South Eastern tip of Mexico. Different places..

Do you mean Puerto Maya?? If you do mean Puerto Maya you will need to take a taxi to take you to Playa Uvas.

No, it's Costa Maya. Thanks for the quick response.

  9. I would go back in a heart beat, in fact I am. I have a B2B booked in sept/oct and plan to go to uvas at least one of the days and then another B2B in feb and will go back for another day.

Hi to Carmen and Eduardo and all of the staff from the BIG GUY FROM IOWA. Carmen I will try to bring you some snow in february.

I am confused. My port is in Costa Maya but it seems like Playa Uvas is in Cozumel. I am confused, is Playa Uvas within distance of Costa Maya? It seems that it is a place we would like, just a beach with food and alcohol.
