  1. First I must apologize for the "give me a break" entrance into this thread. When I am wrong I say so. It was a bad day I admit. I meant no harm in defending food I was taught to make from my family's heritage and background. Now having said that with an apology...please accept this opinion. Cabo is a tourist town/American driven to make money. I love it. I am an American first having been born in San Francisco. If you want authentic Mexican food, however, go to a non-tourist place like Oaxaca...or my house! Cabo is not a typical Mexican town or city IMHO. Do I love non-authentic Mexican food. YES!!!

  2. Taco Bell? Don't remember making a reference to that or tacos at all. My point was hamburger in any Mexican meal; specifically enchiladas in this case, does not make it authentic or not. Yes I have been to Mexico and I said my family came from there. An expert..no. But my opinion not expertise is what I am sharing. Carry on :)

  3. Eating food in the country of Mexico? Not sure I understand your question. Millions of people live there and almost that many stay there on vacations every year and eat there- of course it's safe!

You will not find ground beef in the tacos or enchiladas unless you go to the tourist places- that is considered "american mexican food". Why not try some delicious authentic mexican food? There are lots of great places on this thread with suggestions on where to go.

Oh give me a break...my enchiladas have ground beef in them as well as chorizo (like my great-grandmother made and she came from Chihuahua Mexico). That's what our family could afford. Not authentic? Whatever.

  4. I hate to point at two of the big ones, but nothing beats the steak nachos at Cabo Wabo and the fresh made guacamole at the Giggling Marlin.

We have eaten at most of those mentioned in this thread, but for a day where you are either at the beach or hanging out in town, nothing beats finishing the day with a cold beer and mexican bar food standards like these before you get back on the ship.

    Enjoy your day in Cabo.

    Happy Cruising:D:D

I'm sorry, but Cabo Wabo has GREAT lobster tacos...I know...Iknow...Sammy is known as "anything for a buck Sammy", but I don't CARE! The food is good...You won't get poisoned, and if they are checking people for drugs...GOOD FOR THEM! It's a properly run establishment, safe for Americans with good food and good drinks. Go ahead...try something else I don't care. I'm going back to Sammy's. I aint never had a taco like THAT.

  5. Maybe not strange, but on the cruise I just left we were seated at dinner with a couple who actually live 5 houses from me.... they are across the alley, and I didn't know them, although i had invited them to a pool party I had last summer for everyone on the alley.

Guess this is one time when I WILL see my table mates after the cruise!

After we got back from a Caribbean cruise on Voyager, I walked out on our back deck to find our neighbor barbecuing on his back deck. Our decks are kinda far apart cause we live in the mountains so we were yelling back and forth. Found out he was making tri-tip and told him I was making chicken soup because I got sick on the cruise. The conversation went like this: "We just got back from a cruise". "Really? Which one?" "The Caribbean". "The Voyager?" "ME TOO!" He was on the same cruise and we never saw him. I don't know that I'd know what he looks like up close anyway. He's a nurse so our hours at home differ a lot. Small world, though!

  6. I accidentally stumbled across this message board about a month ago. Although I'm glad I found it, I wish I had known about it years and three cruises ago!

I do all the booking stuff with a TA, my DH and I pick out excursions together, and now we can't wait to get home and read these threads together. Yes, he makes me read until I just can't talk anymore! But he leaves all the lists, packing and planning to me. He'd rather I be responsible for all that which is happyland for me!

I am a major planner, list maker and preparer. To me it's a big part of the whole fun of a trip. I have always made a packing list, a "to buy" list and a "to do" list. I turn our guest room into a "staging area" with our outfits organized by formal, informal and casual. Shoes, belts, jewelry are placed by each outfit, and other items like CD's, laptop, journal, etc. are all together in another area.

Well, now, because of this thread, I'm copying all of your ideas on binders before I start making lists to put in it! Planning before the planning! Sheesh - I'm in heaven. Glad I'm not alone!

    Thanks you guys!
