  1. Probably not the accidental bad prime cut issue. The ocean view cafe / buffet restaurant had the prime rib there days later and saw the actual prime rib being sliced off etc. Flank steak at the MDR was similar. The New York Sirloin was good consistently and also served at a good temperature. May be it is our luck and we just made it a point to remember as it was just as bad.

Recognizing that it is my personal opinion, it did not remind me of the Celebrity Cruises that was rated top tier in this website earlier and certainly far from the Celebrity Cruise quality that I used to know when I first joined Captain's Club and had to actually pay $50 to join.

  2. Thanks guys/gals. I am actually asking the Port of Vancouver Authority on using NEXUS. Will most likely bring both NEXUS and passport.

After checking in, our plan is to head to the buffet restaurant for lunch. Plans are meant to be changed so we shall see what is actually happening and react to the situations I guess.

Will post here if there are significant differences to the above comments from the Port Authority.

  3. Will be departing from Canada Place on Celebrity's Infinity soon. I believe check-in starts at 11AM on departure day (Sunday).

Any suggestions with line ups, recent / local issues (e.g. virus causing delays), watch out for missing signs, timing of dropping off (e.g. should I arrive real early?), go to check-in in smaller groups (e.g. per stateroom) and lineup separately OR wait for everyone in my group (there are 30+ of us but only me and my wife are Captain's Club) and go as a large group to one line, etc. and any thing to best avoid / must do in general?

Last time I use the terminal for a cruise was 12 years ago so just updating myself. Many thanks!

  4. Hi all,

Any advice on using NEXUS cards at embarkation/checkin and other times? Sailing the Vancouver round trip Alaska Hubbard Glacier Cruise soon. Did not want to line up incorrectly, etc. - especially during check-in.

Currently at Classic level for Captain's Club so not expecting any "priority" status but still did not want to line up randomly. Read some recent reviews over on the Cruise Critic Review section regarding the Infinity boarding fiasco at Vancouver so any information will help.

    :D

    Thanks!

  5. Just back from a great Queen Victoria cruise ( Voyage for Cuanrders- LOL) It was my forth time with Cunard! X was my favorite cruise line for almost 15 years- until they started to cut down here and cut down there- implemented this Modern Luxury nonsense ans so such things!

So I strayed- to Cunard an HAL- Cunard is now my new favorite cruise Line- if you want all that what X was, represented, stood for- try Cunard- they still have the " nice and fine touches" ! All in all a refined cruise - or voyage experience! Yes they are more formal- yes the don´t have the drink packages X offers. I am really hard pressed to switch completlly , because the offerings I get with X as Elite Plus are not forget either! But still... !

In December am on my, I suppose, last X cruise- on board Silhouette! A wonderful ship! Don´t get me wrong X i still a great cruise line, but Cuanrd is nowadays not only a triffle better!

Can you talk about the difference in:

    1. Stateroom size, decor, ambiance, fit/finish.

    2. Food.

    3. Service.

I do not cruise as often as most here but would like to know for future planning purposes.

  6. Guys, while I definitely appreciate the severity of celiac I would like to try to keep this specific thread on topic :o I have to believe it's been doing its job of cutting down on independent drinking threads because the most recent posts are still generally relevant.

ailetoile, thanks for your responses and starting this thread. I found out that the prices were for per adult per day - I don't know how I got the impression of that it is for per cruise price. It works out to over C$200 per person per cruise for the classic non-alcoholic beverage package. This pushes me to go a la carte / pay as you go. Outside of the main dining room and the buffet restaurant, I cannot imagine I drink that much ... let alone the premium pricing. So NO drinks package for me.

  7. The promotional rates that the other poster is referring to are promotional rates on your booking. There are often special residential rates for residents of certain states or provinces. There are NOT, however, special beverage rates for Canadians.

In my opinion it sounds like you would be better off to pay as you go. That way you won't have to feel as though you are limited to whatever is in the package you are willing to pay for. Or, if you would prefer, take the advice that I gave to the poster above: Purchase a non-alcoholic package at a much more reasonable rate than the alcoholic ones, and then pay as you go for alcohol.

Would you say the classic non-alcoholic package is good for say one juice and one premium coffee per day? (Outside of the MDR and the buffet restaurant that is. )

  8. If I want the occasional premium tea/coffee (once a day), only drink wine once over the course of a one week cruise, occasional beer (say ... twice for the week), premium bottled water twice for the week, etc. The packages almost feel like once purchased, I am limited to what is being offered within a package unless I pay more. Sounds like I should do a classic package but I cannot do all the alcohol in the package. What would be the best course of action for my upcoming cruise (Infinity)?

  9. I,m an elite cruiser and I never wear a jacket to formal night. People who tell you that are trying to advance there own adjenda. Your on vacation wear what you want and forget these "suggestions" they are just stating hat they want to see. Just remember to dress respectively. Oh yeah I only book suites. So I pay for my choices.

I believe I asked the question for tuxedo for the practical purposes in packing and for the information to remainder of the group that I am traveling with. Answers given here were objective enough for me to pass on the information and suggestions to my group.

I guess the big picture is that there were just 3 possible answers. 1. Yes.; 2. No.; 3. Optional. In other words, if there were a personal agenda, I am sure there were enough personal agendas here to form a consensus given this very long and well discussed thread.

  10. Haven't been on a cruise for 12 years and I thought I should ask what is the dress code for dinner for Celebrity's Infinity on Alaska cruises - and what is the "realistic" dress code? For SS America, qSine, and the main restaurant?

Sailing on the Infinity again in a few weeks. Thx!
