We were on the Moon in January/February and were not impressed with Raphael at all.

We were on the Moon in January and they had the bourbon Eagle Rare, plus others.

We were able to land in the Falklands in February 2023, but the port was closed for landings for the next day due to weather.

Wine
in Viking Ocean
Are you basing your choice of Viking on their wine choices? We have sailed on both Viking and Regent and we will not go back to Viking.

It really doesn't matter how often he is smoking his cigar, it clearly states cigar smoking is allowed only in the Connoisseur's Corner.

I don't think that all cruise lines that offer included alcohol are "booze cruises".

Lois, you are right. I hadn't noticed it in the first day Chronicle from our recent Dawn cruise, but it is listed.

Our cruise is on the Moon in January 2023 and the black ties are already being shown on the itinerary.

We were recently on the Dawn for a cruise from Barcelona to Venice. We did included excursions every day and were very satisfied. There were a few guides that were less than great, but most were really good and their English was excellent. The buses were very modern and they were never full.

We were on the Dawn from September 12 to October 3 and only had our temp checked at embarkation.

We have been told that if the ship goes into a port in Greece (embarkation port makes no difference) that you must have a test within 48 hours of the cruise. In our case we are leaving from Barcelona on the 14th to Rome, and then Rome to Venice with a stop in Corfu. Silversea has told our agent we must have a test in Barcelona because we have the two cruises under one booking number. It really is a ridiculous situation.

I haven't booked Viking air in several years. I have had occasion to book air through Silver Sea twice in the last year. The first time I was not happy with the flights, and I paid for a deviation and I got the flights I wanted. The ticket was issued and I was able to verify seats. The next time the air has been booked, but tickets are not issued yet. At this point I do not have any complaints about Silver Sea Air.

Our invoice for a September cruise has a line item for the Business class upgrade, as does our January cruise invoice.

We have been on Viking - they are not in the luxury category.

We were on a Regent cruise in January (our first with Regent, previously only Viking). The wait staff on our cruise were terrific as were all the other staff. Maybe it is dependent on particular ships.

The question was asked by Shadowlover if anyone had sailed on another luxury cruise line in the past year. We have, we sailed on Regent in January and it was fabulous. We have previously sailed on Viking, both river and ocean. Our first river cruise was great and then they went downhill. Our first ocean cruise was great and then they went downhill. We will not sail on Viking again. Several times while on Regent we commented on the total difference from Viking. The only plus for Viking is there interior design style, but most areas on Regent were much more comfortable.

When you click on guest information form I am able to see both my husband and myself.

Sorry for not responding to veranda and bathroom. The bathroom on Regent Explorer was bigger than a Viking bathroom and the storage was much greater. My husband said the shower was the best shower design he has seen (he is not easy to please). The veranda was bigger than on the Viking veranda and the chairs were much more comfortable. The chairs have cushions which the room staff bring in each evening. And the veranda table was bigger. I didn't mention comparison of excursions. The Viking included excursions were typically crowded bus tours. The Regent excursions were more diverse and often included a snack or drink. We were on the LA thru the Panama Canal to Miami cruise.

I tried to respond to the Viking comparison and I hit something incorrectly, so I will try again. We have done several Viking cruises and we noticed the quality go down from the first one we did. We did our first Regent cruise in January and it was phenomenal. The food was superior and the options were greater. The staff on Viking were pleasant, but on Regent everyone was a delight. Since everything is included on Regent it makes for a more relaxing cruise, you never have to think about the price of something. We could think of nothing that was better on Viking. We had a Deluxe Veranda suite and it was wonderful. The storage space was terrific. The last cabin we had on Viking was a Penthouse Veranda and it was better than their Deluxe Veranda, but no comparison to the cabin on Regent. I could go on and list other items, but I think you can see our opinion.

Joanie,
Thanks for your posts! We re booked on a Viking Ocean cruise in late JuUne to the British Isles and then a Regent cruise in August to the Baltic on the Splendor!. We are so looking forward to those cruises this summer. We too have been on Celebrity and agree with your thoughts. I would be interested in your thoughts regarding the differences you have found between Viking and now Regent.

Drinks are included on Regent Seven Seas, you don't need a drink package.
-
On our last cruise we got a PV, previously had a DV. The difference between the two is noticeable and we would no longer be happy with a DV.

You can have your meal cooked at The Grill/Hot Rocks. We ate there several times and never cooked our own food.
