  1. Love the Dawn and the aft facing suites...Yes lunch at Cagney's...Breakfast at Moderno, butler and concierge available...Take advantage of your butler and ask for whatever it is you want...They treat suite guests pretty damn well on the Dawn...You will enjoy, we just got off that ship...

  2. Have been to Le Bistro at least 4-5 times on different ships...We have enjoyed some very good and tasty dinners for the most part...Last time we ate there (2 weeks ago) I ordered the duck, I have ordered it before, I do enjoy me some good duck...Not sure what they brought me, it was terrible, I sent it back asking them to taste it...Maitre'D came over and said that they tasted it and it was "not right"...I knew that when they put it down in front of me...Don't order the duck...Dover Sole was great (my wife had it)The lamb chops are always good to...Just an FYI...Love NCL, enjoy cruising...

  3. Discounts with NCL can be "funny"...I applied and received my military discount on both future cruises we've booked...Since it is not listed as a "line item" as Workingmom 200 states I have no idea from where they take the discount from...???I do know that when I requested it from my PCC the final price was different from what it was originally...I have no clue from what "fare" they do the discounts from...NCLs discounts remain a mystery to me...

  4. Was on the Dawn last week for 7 nights...Our 3rd time on that ship, we love the aft facing suites and think the crew was just terrific...Not one complaint from us...We enjoy the "smaller " ships but have booked the Escape and the Getaway for cruises in 2024 and 2025......So we'll see..???

    • FYI,  I went on to NCL check in for my cruise.  I was able to take picture, verify email and telephone number.  My cruise is not until 11/9/2021, but it accepted all info.

I also completed/verified for all information asked, for an April 2022 cruise as well as for a Jan 2023 cruise...

  6. Have 3 booked but cancelling one...Canceling March 2021...Have booked Oct 2021 on the Breakaway, in the Haven...Then have  Feb 2022 on the Dawn...Looking at something for Jan of 2023 on the Dawn for when I cancel the March 2021 cruise...Not interested in cruising where we have to wear masks or not be allowed off the ships at port unless on an excursion...I'll wait, see, go from there...All good, enjoy...

  7. Been out on the Jewell, the Jade, the Pearl, the Dawn, (going again in Feb) and the Sun...Have the Breakaway booked for next time...Loved the Jade, (first suite) great crew...Enjoyed the Dawn, just a great cruise with a great crew...Enjoyed the Jewell but thought the crew of the Pearl left a lot to be desired...Did not like the Sun at all, thought the layout was terrible...Jade, Dawn, Jewell, Pearl and the Sun...Different times with different crews means everything...

  8. FYI: Gratuity and service charge are 2 different things...There should not be any charges to you or the room that you did not authorize via your room key...Should not be any surprises unless you git drunk while at the bar and bought everyone a drink...

have a great cruise, remember you're there to relax and enjoy...Tipping is personal, do what you feel the service you get deserves...

  9. Can only speak about the spinning classes...Took them on the Jade, the Pearl, the Jewell, the Dawn and the Sun..30-45 min classes on 3-5 yr old bikes, in decent shape...Usually 3-5 people in the class which is offered 3 times over the length of the cruise...Good music, might be "European" as 99% of the gym staff is either European or Aussies...Never had a bad spin, did have a few very fast paced spins...Usually 3 trainers in total who do it all whether its spinning or Pilates...Last Jan the spin was 12 bucks, plus a tip...Probably 15 now...???

Have a great cruise and they do offer sun-up yoga...

  10. We have been cruising for awhile now and the truth is that tipping whether on board or off the ship is really up to you and how or what your service was...We have done the Caribbean many times and have done a lot of excursions, $20.00 bucks for both of us always seemed right to me, exceptional service (very rare) got more..."Solicited tips" are not appreciated and I have put the $$$ back in my pocket when it happened...When zip lining we did give each "guide" $20.00 as they helped us both but at different times...Just depends on what they do and you..Be comfortable with yourself and tip as you feel...

  11. Quick question, we also got the bid to upgrade email today for our Jade cruise in March. We are currently in a balcony cabin and might be interested in bidding on a Non Haven Suite. Do these suites get all the same perks as the Haven suites minus the Haven access?

Yes you get everything but access to the Haven...Everything else is the same on the Jewell class ships, for suites and haven...

  12. Its funny how all of us have different opinions, or variations of...We've been on all 3 ships, enjoyed each one for the "personality" and or crew for everything they did...Out of all 3 we thought we got the least "service" from the crew of the Pearl (we had heard that the Pearl was the best ship with the best crew) who seemed tired and not happy with a lot...I am sure that "crews change often and we caught them at a bad time, not that anything was terrible, it was not, it was fine...The service and crew on the Jade was terrific and always asked to do more than we expected, such a happy crew...The Dawn was great as well, never an issue with anything...We're going out on the Pearl again and have no worries that things will be better and that we'll have a great cruise...

  13. We enjoy the "Jewell class" ships the most have been on 3 of them, doing the Pearl again in 2019...Loved each of our cruises with NCL but our last one in Jan of 2017 on the Jade was by far our best cruise and experience...Really liked the ship (before refurbish) thought the service and crew were great...Looking forward to our next...

  14. We always tip at the end. Like you, we decide ahead of time what we'll tip. You can't predict the level of service you'll receive though. We had a horrible butler last October and he received nothing! We have also had great service and tipped more than planned.

Agree 100% with you here, we tipped according to the level of service we received...Last cruise we felt that our butler was average at best so he got $10 per day per person, which we felt was a good starting point...On a 10 day cruise that was still $200.00, it could have been more if the service was better...

    Have a great day,
