Has anyone sailing on the September 30th sailing for the Getaway heard anything about their possible upgrade? We're still waiting on ours!
Either way we can't wait!!!

NCL has their own island, its not the same port that RCCL uses.

Well that explains a lot! Thank you so much!

So watching some YouTube videos of our upcoming cruise on the Getaway, Belize looks totally different from what I remember... But that was almost 10 years ago with RCCL. Has the port area been redone?

We're still holding our breath for our Haven bid to be accepted for the September 30th saying of the Getaway!!

Very detailed!! A great read!! We can't wait, we're on the Getaway for the September 30th sailing for our honeymoon!!! We're so excited!!! Can't wait to read more!!
Chris
P.s.-we also have bids in on the Haven suites!!!! Wish us luck!

Waiting for the bidding process is killing us lol...56 days until our wedding and 57 days until we embark on the Getaway!! This is all so exciting!

Yes, I did. I did mock bookings every morning, lunchtime, evening, and before bed (kind of obsessive :')). One night it was $2499pp, the next morning it was $1999pp. I called NCL at exactly 8:00 AM and made the upgrade on the phone. We already had the UBP and SDP from our mini-suite reservation, they added an additional $300 OBC, internet, and the excursion credits as part of the upgrade.
Awesome!! I will continue checking every morning at 4am when I get up lol!!! And midday and at dinner!!! I've been doing the same with the obsessive checking if their website along with my emails!!

Keep watching those prices everyday. We had bid $700 per person to upgrade on our Getaway cruise. Then, overnight, the price of the Haven Courtyard Penthouse cabins dropped so much we were able to direct upgrade for a total cost of $740 due to the extra OBC we received.
Hi dave, did you watch the prices on NCLs website? I keep checking to see how many are open still and they all start at $2499.

We got an offer to upgrade from an aft balcony...we bid on an aft haven, spa haven and forward facing haven...we sail on the Getaway on 9/30 for our honeymoon and have our fingers crossed!!!

If it helps, I outlined our stay here (plenty of Haven pictures) https://gotravellife.com/2018/01/03/about-us/
We truly enjoy the quality of the rooms, the dedicated restaurant, bar and pool area that the Haven provides- quiet respite (typically) on a huge ship. We also appreciate the perks (like getting into shows early or disembarking quickly thru the back elevator).
Hope this is helpful and enjoy!!

We submitted our bids, is there a way to check on the status? It do we do and wait now up until two days before departure?

We'll be sailing on the Getaway on September 30th on our honeymoon...
Right now we have an aft facing balcony on the 14th floor and have been getting upgrade offers for haven suites....we've booked regular balcony rooms in the past, but never an aft balcony...is it worth an upgrade to a Haven if we bid? We've read about the perks of Haven rooms as well.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

We just got off the gem on Saturday, the UBP was part of am Orbitz deal when we booked, and after the first day at sea we also picked up the UDP...both are nice because you don't have to worry about any extra cost...in our opinion. I tries to save most of our drink receipts and they totaled just over $810, while with the UDP we used it every night when we purchased it, so it was maybe a break even. Still it was nice not paying attention to any bill at the end of the day...

Back in early march we booked for the above date on the Gem, this will be my first time on NCL; I have previously sailed on RCL, Carnival and Princess when when I was a kid. This will be my GFs first time ever cruising though, were both so excited though! Its nice skipping airfare since we'll be sailing from Manhattan and it'll only cost us the ride there and back from upstate NY.
Its been 5 years since I've cruised but always think of it as the best way to vacation for the cost, I'm sure it will be again! Booking through Orbitz we ended up getting a mini suite balcony for less than the price of a stateroom balcany along with a free UBP for both of us...so now were counting down the days!!! Can't wait for warmer weather!
Anyone else sailing this date?

We are set to Sail on May 2nd, and I have a question...does anyone out there know if the televisions on this line have an open hdmi port on them? I'm curious because we have a chromecast and if the option is there, e may to use this device at night for a movie in our room, since wifi isn't needed to cast local video from a device.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer...

This was the first time I ever went on a cruise! It was April, 1995, and I thought it was amazing! I remember really rough seas one night and watching the picture frames hanging off the walls of our room as the ship rolled left and right! Lol, I didn't care, it was still amazing! That boat seemed gigantic back then!
