  1. We have a great PVP. Once we book the cruise she still keeps looking to see if we can get a better room for the same rate or slightly more. Thus why we ended up getting a suite for slightly more than we paid for our balcony. She also knows us and our preferences and can find rooms that aren't showing as available on-line and really make us happy with what we book.

  2. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go on the Carnival website, I will get a call from him within 12 hours.

I just usually send him to VM.

Now he has started texting me, apologizing, but says it's his job.

I told him I completely understand, yadda, yadda, yadda.....

    It's actually gotten quite comical.

He KNOWS I am not going to answer the phone, but still calls and texts.

Just booked our next cruise online last night, and AMAZINGLY, I didn't hear from him, YET.

You probably won't. Their job is to assist you with booking and earn credit for each booking they process. There would be no benefit in trying to assist you further and would take away time from other people who do want his help.

  3. This thread makes me so happy! I was 12 (now 26) when I decided to become a vegetarian and my family was pretty skeptical and not overly supportive at first. I love seeing parents that are fully supportive of their kids trying it even though it can sometimes be a challenge.

I'll be honest. We were skeptical at first too. I figured it would be over the moment she couldn't have bacon in her omelet but we figured it would be better to support her even if it was just a phase. I would rather have her look back and think how we supported her ideas than think we didn't take her seriously. Everyone around us has been really supportive, my parents, her girl scout troop, but the people on the ship were surprisingly wonderful about it. I don't know if it was because one of our waiters was Indian and a vegetarian because he took such an interest in taking care of her.

  4. May 9th 2015 cruise on the Breeze

I made the effort to pack a suit, shirt, tie etc

Surprise! There were maybe 30 men wearing suits on the 2 formal nights. Vast majority did not wear jackets and tuxedos are almost extinct.

Leaving on the Pride in 3 weeks. You know what I am packing this time.

I'm sure my husband would love that plan. Alas he is married to a horrible woman who requires a suit because we WILL be getting pictures done. I couldn't care less what he wears at any other time.

  5. My PVP had about 2 weeks where she was cycle calling me. I just explained that "Yes, we are going on a cruise and I promise to book with you. Just let me shop around on-line so I don't waste your time." I've never had a problem since. Most of our communication is via e-mail unless I'm giving out the CC number.

  6. When it was time to leave on Saturday I asked Wee Jimmy where we could hide to remain on the ship for another week. He told me we could move into his room but didn't give me the number. We had to leave and go home. I blame him for my being at the office this morning.

  7. We have booked on board for one of the last days of the cruise without any problems. Just might have to settle for a time.

That's awesome! The cruise we just came off of on Saturday was understaffed/undertrained in the steakhouse due to a crew switch over so they were cutting back on the tables allowed. We thought we received great service however the manager came by several times apologizing and toward the end of our service we noticed several servers who were in Lido deck shirts and not steakhouse had arrived to help out. It didn't make any difference to us but I know others were disappointed they couldn't get in but could see empty tables through the window.

  8. Abeynrml she really will have a ton of options. If she lets the waitstaff know at the MDR they can really help her make selections because they know what items can be altered. They also have veggie burgers at Guy's, however I was told that it was a 15-20 minute wait as they have to be dethawed and then cooked and didn't keep any ready to go. That wasn't really an option for us because when the kiddo says she's hungry for lunch it really isn't a great idea to keep the 9 year old stomach waiting but I'm sure your 16 year old will have much more patience.

  9. We just returned from the Freedom on Saturday and our trip was wonderful. I was concerned before we left that my 9 year old, who had recently decided she was a vegetarian wouldn't have a ton of options. Boy was I wrong. She had no problem finding great things to eat. Breakfast most mornings was an omelet with fruit or yogurt. Lunch on Lido had a ton of options for her everyday. Dinner was a bit more difficult because she tried the Indian and didn't care for it but they were happy to remove meat from some of the dishes like the pasta and one night she feasted on side dishes and salad and was a happy girl. There were a few bumps in the road on our cruise, mostly due to staff change over, but her having a selection of choices was not one of them.

  10. As someone pointed out earlier - you can't always tell that a person has disabilities in a glance. On a recent cruise a woman on the elevator made a whispered, snide remark about my DH screwing up the elevator for others by only riding up one floor when he looked perfectly healthy and could surely walk up the one flight of stairs.

He kept his cool and silently pulled up his pant-leg to reveal the horrible scar he has from knee to ankle from massive heart related surgery. As a result of the surgery he has never recovered his endurance - thus the elevator. He can't do the stairs.

And no, we/he would never fight our way onto a crowded elevator.

Similar story with my friend. She has a horribly bad heart at 34. Looks fine and can do short walks but anything else requires a wheelchair or scooter. You should see the looks and she gets when she stands to get out of the car and then grabs her chair from the back. People can be horrible.

  11. It is a bit larger with a fridge and a whirlpool tub.

If you don't spend much time in your room it wouldn't be worth it.

We spend so much time in our room and on the balcony it is perfect for us. Plus it has the extra space for the kiddo and we don't feel as cramped or tripping over each other.

  12. We just booked a cruise for the end of November and my hubby asked if they will be decorated for Christmas. He is thinking maybe we can get a nice last minute Christmas card picture. Does anyone know when they decorate and what they do?

Just don't plan on it and then it will happen. I know there were a few upset people last year when the decorations went up a week after what was scheduled.
