Hello- we are preparing to ship in 29 days to Alaska! I am beyond excited! We booked a Family Balcony on deck 10 (aft). I am starting to do more in depth research and would love input on the following:

1- We have the opportunity to upgrade to a mini suite- is it worth it? (passengers: 2 adults and 2 kids under 6)

2- My understanding is that there is a coffee brewer on the balcony rooms- what kind of brewer is it? I drink a LOT of coffee :o

3- Is room service complimentary for balcony rooms or do we have to pay a fee?

4- With our kids in mind- do the rooms have a dvd player or should i bring my portable dvd?

We are planing our first cruise as a family (hubs has cruised before). It's going to be 2 adults and 2 kids (4 &2). We are planing a trip to Alaska sometime in 2016.

1- Is it worth to pay the price for a Disney cruise? They haven't released their prices for 2016 Alaska bound but from the prices for 2015 I think we are looking anywhere around $5.5 to $6 K for the cruise.

2- There is an offer right now through Norwegian where 3rd and 4th passengers are free if you book a balcony. Do these types of offer come around every so often or should I jump on it? I wanted to buy our cruise sometime in August since we are taking a week long vacation at beginning of June.

3- What is the best time to go to Alaska? Is June better than end of August? I'm going specifically to see the whales.

4- Would you recommend a balcony for a family with kids under 5? I've never been on a ship and I have no idea what the balcony is like (in terms of safety). I am not against oceanview.
