Martinique is very pretty but unfriendly
So I'll go with St Martin because you have a lot of options for things to do

#1 If you can't afford a cab perhaps you shouldn't be cruising
#2 We have cruised out of Miami several times and there is a lot more to do there without getting a cab or renting a car
#3 You have to rent a car in FLL if you want to go anywhere around the port
#4 All the hotels near the port or airport are going to be higher when they have ships in
#5 You're going on a cruise don't worry about such trivial things
I love all the things you can do right near the port in Miami and I like going to Fishlips and the other restaurants in FLL. So both ports are good. Here in NH we have tourists year round and trust me the hotels in Florida are about the same as New England and they come here in the droves for skiing, swimming, camping, hunting and fishing and don't forget bike week. When the whole state sounds like a motorcycle.
Go on vacation Have good time and be happy you live in a country where you can afford to go on a cruise.

Okay correction onboard credits earned through Visa
Onboard credits through RCCL booking

We had to cancel our 4/13/18 cruise on the Navigator we had insurance and got every penny back, but the insurance obviously. We got our port fees and taxes and our gratuities immediately from our TA and rec'd our checks from the insurance company in a week and a half. As for the C&A points earned on my Visa card I called the card company and when we booked our next cruise they give you a validation number for the points and the TA calls them and has them applied to you new reservation number. The only thing we lost was the complimentary points they give you when you sign up for the cruise, but you get new points when you book your new cruise. We had already made it to Miami when we had to go to the hospital so we had to pay for three days at a hotel and didn't insure our plane tickets so we had to purchase new tickets to get home and called the airline and they gave us a voucher number to use on our next flight for only half the price we paid but that was better than a total loss.
Good luck with your points

We just had to cancel our cruise the day before we were supposed to board, because a medical emergency. We got port fees, taxes and gratuities back from RCCL and we were reimbursed for every penny from the insurance company, minus the cost of the insurance. We also have a code from the onboard credit that carries over to our next booking all we have to do is book and we get our on board credit which was $500.00. Of course I would have rather gone on the cruise but we have to take care of ourselves first. It still cost us some money because we had airfare to and from Miami and three days in a hotel, plus the taxi rides back and forth to the hospital for those days, All and all I would say RCCL treated us very well.

Hi All,
Just have to share that we were scheduled to board the Navigator of the Seas on Friday the 13th (tell you anything) and got as far as Miami and ended up with a medical emergency. We had booked two days at the Holiday Inn and we were getting our soda and wine when we got a callback from my husbands Dr. telling us to get to the Bascom Palmer Eye Hospital as soon as possible.
Well to make a very long story short, we went to the hospital and we were told there would be no cruise on Friday. Okay we were fine as long as they took care of our emergency. Well we couldn't have asked for better medical treatment and they coordinated with my husbands eye Dr. at home, so we were able to leave within the time we had at Holiday Inn. He is still being treated for his eye problem here at home but the story doesn't end there. It will be a long rehab but we will be positive about the outcome.
The part I want to share with you all is how wonderful my travel agent and Royal Caribbean International have been throughout this whole ordeal. Royal was excellent and refunded our taxes and port fees immediately and worked with our travel agent on making out the needed documents to refund us the full amount of our cruise. I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with our travel agent and the RCCL. Even though this was a horrible scary moment in our lives our travel agent and RCCL were so so helpful. I can't thank them enough. I look forward to traveling with RCCL soon and hope to be on these boards soon.
I know we aren't supposed to mention the travel agent but at least I can give you her name Lori and she is an angel.
