  1. Be sure to answer your phone —800 #’s- which I don’t usually answer.  A week before our Mediterranean cruise I got a call about our GTY ocean view stateroom (porthole-this was port intensive so didn't care abt balcony this time) She said they were sold out of ocean view rooms. I wasn’t happy and told her so...she said  “would you accept a virtual balcony room?”  I said the guarantee was for ocean view and above.  She then asked if I would accept it if they refunded one passengers fare! I thought hmmm...and asked, “Do you mean future cruise credit?” She said , “No. I mean a cash/credit card refund back to you!”  Oh yeah !!! It was $1300 back.  They have trouble I guess getting those virtual balconies filled as they are hokey in my opinion, but we were off the ship every day but one so it was a great deal for us!

  2. We were on this cruise and cannot say enough good things about how RC handled the situation. We were informed, waited on hand and foot, stayed safe and had a ton of fun. The 3 bonus days were so nice. In addition, they offered anyone currently on the 7 (read 10) day cruise a deal to stay on for the rest of the week for $199!!!!! So basically we got a TWO WEEK CRUISE for cost of one plus $199. The ship had around 2200 passengers and 2300 staff. We've never seen one that empty and it was fantastic. No waits for elevators, no lines for shows, Windjammer, no chair saving ..... lucky to have been on this one. RC had a party for staff one night. Remember they had lost revenue personally as fewer passengers=fewer gratuities. We would book again during hurricane season! Didn't pre-book any excursions and that was good, but folks who had got $$$ back (not in credit but actually refunded)

  3. Nassau was not one of my favorites either but last week on our extended "Irma" cruise, we stopped there twice. We booked an excursion to Balmoral Island. It was exceptionally beautiful....clear water, good service, food...beach chairs and umbrellas..There were many chairs empty because folks just couldn't get to the cruises because of Irma. We had 20 people with us!!! It's located right beside a Sandals resort and so so pretty! We want to go back to Nassau just to visit Balmoral.

  4. Same problem for me. I've tried http://www.royalcaribbean.com and I get the flashing problem then, too.

I work for a software company with far fewer consumers trying to get on pages. There's no way this would be tolerated for as long as it's been a problem. Not being able to load the site is not a small glitch.

Flashing issues for me too....really frustrating when I go through each choice (ship, date, length etc) and it brings up 2 or 3 then immediately goes back to a choice of SIX HUNDRED FOURTEEN cruises!!!!

    Hey Royal.....are you listening???

  5. Everyone has their own notion as to what is a good cruise, We became D+ sometime near 2008. Absolutely loved being D+ back then..and the perks were great. LOved Loved Loved Oasis Concierge lounge and the lunch breakfast served there. We have enjoyed free suite upgrades, cheaply priced suites, paid a lot for suites and stayed in many many inside and balcony cabins over the years. We have done cruising from many angles....still love it and yes miss some things are very much missed and love some new things......Such as the drink package.. now gladly pay for the package so I am not a "slave" to a DL or CL. Nothing is static... change will come whether you are comfortable with it or not! embrace the positive.

Above all never lose sight that RCi is a for profit entity.....and your vacation $$$/spending is at your discretion.

Love your attitude....so many complainers.....like the drink package....love Oasis....if ya don't like it.....try a different kind of vacation!

  6. There are some who will laugh at the "highlighter, duct tape etc." BUT we've used them every time. If you won't use it, don't take it but we do:) One other thing that was mentioned for children *BACKPAKS*..Adults take yours!! I take one every time we go off the ship...My DH always stuffs his things in too....It's so nice to be hands-free...I put passport copy, cash, blow-up cheapie raft (throw away kind), sunglasses, sunscreen....and always in it are: band-aids, ink pen, nail file...(okay I'll admit I'm obsessive HA)

A few more things we take along the line of zip-loc bags: small scissors, post-its, rubber bands, clothes-pin which comes in handy to keep the drapes closed when that early sun comes in to wake you. Every cruise I've taken a BIG insulated cup! I fill it with ice, tea, lemonade etc for beside the pool. Cups on board are tiny..... Although it was very nice and well-intentioned for the one poster to give a tee shirt to the cabin steward, cash is king. They also like pre-paid phone cards for calling home from ports!

These are great tips weather a newbie or experienced cruiser.

Enjoy your cruise.....This will be our first just as a couple! YIPEE!!!!
