  1. Hi Sonja thanks. We just got of golden last week and there was always kids in the rear pool. We are on her again on Aloha deck in April. Will let you know about the location when we get back.

Explorer of the Seas Dec 2016

    Pacific Eden March 2016

    Carnival Spirit June 2016

    Golden Princess Dec 2016

    Golden Princess April 2017

  2. Have a look at the numbers:

4180 passengers 1300 crew, there is not enough staff to be able to give good service and even if the staff are trained well they would be exhausted. RCCL all bling and mediocre service. Even explorer of the seas was understaffed at 3110 passengers 1100 crew. RCCL spend a lot on the bells and whistles but not on crew to run them all efficiently.

Look at other cruise ships crew to passenger ratios, Golden princes 2590 passengers 1100 crew, carnival Spirit 2600 passengers 960 crew, celebrity Solstice 2850 passengers 1500 crew.

RCCL is not cheap either compared to the others so they really need to look at having enough happy competent staff to run their big production numbers efficiently.

  3. Hi just another question, can anyone please tell us if they have stayed in the ocean view cabin 5510 forward or near that forward area. It seems to be above the conference centre not theatre.

Does anyone know what the blank area is on the deck plans between starboard and port?

Is there a lot of foot traffic is it noisey?

    Thanks

    Mark

  6. Hi Mark:

I shouldn't try to do anything from memory...I checked our actual cruise docs after reading your post and we were actually in room 5062.

And yes we like the Jewel. We live on the west coast and so into 2017 at least, she is the easiest NCL ship for us to access. We are actually booked on her again for this coming in April.

    Hi Janet

we tried booking 5560 which is right next door to the one you had but it was not available so we have gone for 5552. Only negative is that it is a interconnecting cabin. Hope those internal doors keep the sound out.

    Regards

  7. Hi all

We are looking at a cruise in Asia 2018 and would like people's opinions on the Norwegian Jewel.

Two adults and our 8 year old Daughter. We have cruised on Royal Carribean, P&O and Carnival. So far out best experience has been Carnival followed by P&O, that is service and food not ships facilities so much.

We are happy with ocean view rooms but are a bit worried about the noise from the floor above. We are looking at level 5. Has any one stayed in the ocean view rooms midship on the jewel if so was it noisy?

Any comments on the food and service would be great as well.

    Thanks

  8. Hi we have been on royal Carribean with all the kids bells and whistles and our 7 year old daughter was happy to use the pool an kids club only. We had to almost force her to use the ice skating ring and she was to young for the flow rider and was not interested in rock climbing.

She loves the kids Clubs, the pool, plus the variation in meals and loves the live shows.

Been on Carnival and P&O and the same, all she needs is some live theatre a pool and a kids club. We are booked on Golden princess in December and then again in April. Between what most modern ships have to offer and the new locations to explore I think she will be kept very busy.

I think your 7 year old should be fine, but all kids are different.

  9. We have only done three cruises as a family of three (seven year old daughter). One in a junior suite on RCCL, Balcony on P&O and ocean view on Carnival.

We have found we are very rarely in the cabin and when we are even with a balcony, we just want to get out and about on the ship.

So our next cruise is an ocean view and one after that is an inside cabin.

It will mean more cruisers if we find it ok. It's a lot off extra money to pay for a slightly bigger room and a balcony that we hardly use.

There are huge balconies all over the ship that are free[emoji846]

  10. I can confirm the smoking area is on the Starboard Rear of the Promenade Deck on the Golden Princess.

Close to the Vista Doors for the smokers who needed to nip out for a siggy.

So yes E719 will be right above you, so recommend you do change sides.

We had the inside E716 on our last cruise over Christmas and New Year 2015 - 2016.

    Hi MargoK

I know it's not the right thread to ask but we are booked in an inside cabin A 728 on the Golden.

How did you find the inside cabins?

We have stayed in balconies, outside, and junior suits.

We travel with our seven year old daughter and find we hardly spend any time in our cabin and rarely us the balcony, not to justify 2k more.

We thought this time we would save money and try an inside cabin. If it works it probably means an extra cruise a year for us.

So we are just curious to hear from someone that has stayed in an inside cabin.

    Thanks

    Mark
