  1. Hfj,

Have you taken your trip yet? Any information you can provide. We have a reservation for March 2016 on the freedom cabin 1120.

    Steve

Well, can't really compare it to any other cabin since it was our 1st cruise. If you youtube spa cabin on the Glory, that's the exact same cabin. The location was awesome being by the lido deck. The few negatives, there was no cover above & ppl can look down on you from the deck above. Also, there were a few times we could hear them moving chairs above us early in the morning. You also have no perks being in the spa area. We did really enjoyed having a balcony, I don't think we could cruise again without one. Have fun!

  2. Lots of people. My brother and his 2 kids and their families for example.

Why does it matter if some people do not like cruising. Basically - it is none of my business.

    DON

This is a forum to discuss topics & opinions. I hadn't meet anyone that didn't like cruising & wanted to see what they didn't like about cruising. Saying that it's none of your business really help contribute to the topic. Your the best.

  3. We didn't join CC to complain or post dislike messages ....we joined when we were trying to get some (hopefully) accurate info about cruising before trying it out.

We tried it, based upon info we read here.

We turned out to not like it so far.

We felt compelled to share our experience when this topic was raised by the original poster.

Who knows if we may or may not try cruising again ....that's why we still lurk here and read reviews & info ...

That is all .... over and out :)

This is pretty much how I feel.

  4. We went to Dr Caves on June 30th. The beach and restaurant were really good. We paid $39 for 4 plus an umbrella & 2 chairs. I highly recommend it. It turned out to be my favorite port.

"What I find really strange is that anyone who doesn't like cruising bothers to join CC let alone post there"

I didn't say that I didn't like it, just didn't love it like so many ppl here. I'm posting now to help ppl with questions based on my cruise, the way ppl helped me. I'm slowly fading though, lol. I'll peek in every now & then because I like seeing ppl's vacation pics & reviews. I enjoyed chatting with many of ya'll.

  6. Thanks for all the replies. My family & I just took our first cruise a few weeks ago. I have to say I liked it, but didn't love it. We found sea days to be boring during the day. The shows & activities didn't start until after 3, but mainly after dinner. So, the pools & lido deck were always packed during the day. The other thing we didn't like was not enough time on the islands. Really only about 5-6 hrs after you account for getting on & off the ship & traveling to where you want to go. I'll probably try another without my kids in the future & maybe a different cruise line. I do appreciate all the info I've learned from this site, it helped a lot.

  7. My family of 4 just came back from our 1st cruise 2 weeks ago. I too was worried about sea sickness because of this site, lol. I never thought about it until I read about it on here. I bought all kinds of meds, gum, ginger, etc. Turns out, nobody ever needed it. My wife felt a little something one morning when the ship was rocking, but went away after breakfast. I took back over $50 in stuff. Good luck!

  8. I would say to wait. Everyone is different. Being on these boards for months & taking my 1st cruise last month, I found that I didn't love cruising like I thought I would. I liked it, but mainly just port days. On sea days, my family was bored during the day because there was nothing going on besides a packed pool & lido deck. All the shows & activities were in the evening & night. Maybe if I didn't have my kids with me I would have spent more time doing adult things like spending money at the casino & bars.:) Good luck!

  9. We had FTTF & it didn't matter. We arrived in GC about 7ish. We received a letter the night before that FTTF tendering would be available until 845am. We went down to tender at 815am & it was already opened up to everyone. There was no wait & we boarded immediately. We did feel rushed at the turtle farm, only had 1.5 hrs at park. It seems like a decent amount of time, but by the time you wait in lines for pictures & other things, time flies. The guide asked our group if we wanted the tour or just to explore on our own, the vote was to explore on our own. Good luck.

  10. I was in Montego on June 30th. I was also a little worried about all the neg posts & recommendations to stay on the ship. Montego was my favorite port. We went to Dr Caves & paid $39 for 4 ppl plus 2 chairs & an umbrella. The beach was awesome. We also ate jerk chicken at the restaurant & it was my favorite meal of the trip. My kids are 13 & 11. Very clear & calm water. The ppl were also very friendly.

  11. People say to stay on board in Jamaica. I took my 1st cruise last week & wasn't sure about Jamaica because of these types of comments. Well, Jamaica turned out to be my favorite port. We went to Dr Caves beach & really liked it. The jerk chicken at the restaurant was my favorite meal of the whole trip. In GC we did the stingray/turtle farm excursion through carnival. In Cozumel we went to Mr Sanchos. My family enjoyed all of these ports. Have fun!

  12. To me sea days make a cruise. If I just wanted port days I would just go there. My feeling is why cruise without sea days.

We had a chance to see 3 different islands in a week. But after my 1st cruise last week, I found that I didn't want to leave the islands. Time on the islands was way too short.

  13. Just off the Freedom, my 1st cruise. My family really didn't care for sea days. As someone posted, lines are long, pools & lido are packed. There wasn't much to do until after 4, then the crowds thinned out with dinner & shows. Port days kept us busy during the day & then we enjoyed evening & nights on the ship.

  14. Thanks! We only felt the ship really rock when we crossed the area between Mexico & Cuba. We were on deck 11 & it was windy, dinning was 3 floor in aft. The waiter told us to make sure we ate breakfast. The seas were pretty calm, someone on here described the gulf as being a big pond. I had to return all the motion meds, gum, ginger for a refund.

  15. I was in Cayman last week on the carnival freedom. I had FTTF, went down about 815am, & they told us that it was now open for general boarding. The estimated time for FTTF was up until 845am according to the letter we got the night before. There was no wait to tender, so I guess that's why it opened up to general. There were 3 ships total in port, 2 carnival & 1 RC.

  16. We were on the carnival freedom last week. We are a family of 4. I was kinda worried about our cruise being ruined with someone getting sick. I bought about $50 worth of various things that were recommended on here. We ended up taking nothing. So, if your worried about it, don't be. Just take some stuff with you just in case. I understand everyone is diff though. Just thought I'd pass on our experience.

  17. We were in Jamaica last week. We took the HOHO shuttle. There are signs and carnival ppl for this. You use your sail & sign card. You get somewhat of a tour on the way to rose hall, 1st stop. Everyone thought they had to get off, but we said we wanted to go to dr caves. He said ok & took us. We planned to ride shuttle multiple times, but time is so short, we only took it there & back. Last shuttle was at 4, had to be back on ship by 530. If I had to do it all over again, I would just take a taxi. The driver was entertaining though. I believe it was $19 for adults & $8 for kids.

  18. We use blue lizard. I believe its for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, & chemical free. When I researched it years ago, it has highly rated. I still by it for my kids, it's about $17 for 5 oz online. It's hard to find in stores nowadays. Good luck.

  19. I was just about to post something similar to this. We'll be in Jamaica in less than 2 weeks. I planed on using the HOHO shuttle because you can use your sail & sign card to pay. It only stops at 4 tourist stops. But, I've been curious if it's better to just take a taxi? I've read older reviews that it could take the shuttle 30 mins to come back around. A taxi would be cheaper, if only going there and back, & no waiting. Hopefully some can chime in.
