  1. Thank you all!! I posted this in the new cruiser thread and someone mentioned that I could buy obc before and put it on when I arrive and whatever I don't use, they'll send me a check. Is this an option? If so, do I just go on carnival's website and go to the fun shop? Thanks again. :)

  2. Getting closer to our first cruise!! The biggest question I am thinking about right now is the sail and sign card. I understand that it is your way of charging things on the ship etc. What I am confused about is putting money towards the card and receiving it back (if you put cash on it).

I have no credit cards and don't see myself getting one before this cruise. I want to use cash. I saw that carnival has a required deposit of $100 for 3-5 day cruises and ours is a 5 day cruise. I am going to put more than that on it, but will I have to wait in those dreadful lines that I have read so much about on the last day/night to get those unused funds that were placed on my card? Or will they put a check with my statement? Also, trying to make the check-in process as easy as possible, and I read on carnival's website that I can set up the card account, but my guess is that I can't do that because I am using cash? Thank you in advance. Any information at all about cruising is very appreciated and welcomed

  4. We rented a ATV from Karib a couple of weeks ago and had a GREAT time! He is located right out the gate of the Port and had everything ready for us. We had it the entire day and went everywhere all over the island. On the ATV we were able to take little path ways down to the beach, though you want to be careful not to go in the deep sand itself as it will get stuck;) The cost includes everything for the day, no need to fill up. We are going back in September and plan to rent a golf cart this time as we will have the kids with us. Though we will miss the ATV as it was able to go many places that a golf can't;)

Do you need to make reservations before hand? Or can you just show up? Thanks.

  5. I have seen a few posts, but am not really sure of the answers I am seeing. i do not have a credit car, nor do I want to get one any time soon. I know you can establish a cash account for your S&S card, but I have a few questions.

If I put money on the card and don't spend it all, how do I need to get that back? Is it just easier for me to use my debit card? I know that I need to have the money in my account, just like I would if I bought something at Target or somewhere else. With using the debit card though, will they still have holds on money after the cruise? If so, how long? Thanks :D

  6. If you booked under 1/2 deposit / $49.50pp deposit & you change your promo, you are subject to pay the difference of the normal deposit to make the rate adjustment (if the rate you're changing it to requires standard deposit).... [emoji5]️

I paid $100 pp. What is the $49.50 for? Thanks :)

  7. Some fares are new bookings only.

If you do match fares when you have a reduced deposit you have to pay the full deposit. Many have inadvertently lost their bookings because of this.

How can someone lose their booking? I'm not doubting but just curious. And I know that many times people can be wrong, and that's why I put at the end that it could change, but was just wanting to see if anyone else had been successful with just paying half of deposit.

  8. So, I had seen so many different posts about receiving the latest promotion which was an OBC for up to $50. I myself booked when you were able to have the reduced deposit of just half of what it normally costs. I had seen that some people were told the reason that their price protection form came back denied was due to them booking during the same promotion of the half-off deposit. They said that when they paid the other half of the deposit, they were able to get the OBC and then they were now eligible for the price drops too.

So, I then called Carnival, because who doesn't want the price drops and possible OBC promo? When I called, I only had to wait for less than a minute and I spoke to a very nice woman who was extremely helpful. I had explained to her what I said above and she got my info and looked to see if I qualified for the promotion etc. She then told me that I was not due to my rate being higher right now so I would have to pay $50 to get $50 OBC and so needless to say, I wasn't goig to do that.

After that, I asked if I could pay the remaining half of the deposit so that I could be eligible for price drops and other things in the future. She said that there was no need because you are eligible regardless if you paid the half-off or full deposit! I was in somewhat confusion and then she asked someone and came back and told me that she had just asked her manager and that was the case. You DO NOT have to have a full deposit to get the price drops if you were in on a half-off promo like I was. Now, when I find a price drop in my rates and try to call, they may say something different, but I figured I would right this to let others know what a Carnival spokesperson said. Here's to hoping for the best when my rates do drop :D

  9. I have a question about the refunding. I have been seeing people say that you get OBC if you find a price drop in your cruise price, but then some others say you can get the actual price of your cruise reduced by that much if you have not made your final payment. Which one is correct? It makes sense for the latter one to be true and then if you see price drops after you make your final payment, it can be put as OBC, but then agin, things can surprise you.

  10. It looked like our price went down $20 --did the early saver form got denied. So not giving up --called found out that because we got a reduced deposit we were not eligible for price drop. so I asked if I pay the full deposit can I have the price drop?? Of course you can--- So I scored $20 off and $50 OBC!

Oh wow! That's probably why mine was denied too......but when I booked, it said price protection? That's odd. But thanks for the info.

  11. So I submitted a form our rooms and they both got denied, but then I sent in the forms again and one got denied very quickly, but the other has not shown up yet. Should I call tomorrow? I did the Early Saver so not sure why it won't let me get it.

  12. Just because you booked early does not mean you have an early saver rate. It should be listed on your CabinConfirmation Email on pg. 3 under guest notes. It would show a $50 fee for any cancellation, etc.

You have to know what category you booked - 4A, 4B, etc. 6A, 6B, etc. That's what you price match to.

    check out - Carnival.com/BookingEngine/Fareviewer

I did the Early Saver. Now how can I see what group the other rate is in? Also, is my group number the first two characters of my booking number? This is all new to me :) so I really appreciate the help.

  13. So, I am a newbie cruiser and am so excited to be getting to go on a cruise to celebrate my college graduation! I am pretty sure I did the early saver through Carnival, seeing that my cruise is not until September. Here is where I need help. What is the best way to check if their is a price drop? Do i need to go and act like I am going to book my cruise again on this exact day etc? Or is their an easier way to do it. Also, the going rate right now is higher than what I paid, and this is not including the extra $$ I paid to not have one of those upper/lower bunks. So, I guess I just want to make sure that I have to do EVERYTHING exactly as I did on mine, and if it is lower, then submit the form and or call CC. Hope this makes sense :)
