We got home from a trip a couple years ago & a box cutter was in our luggage...Not a great feeling

Malta is so worth seeing...as much as you can and M'Dina is gorgeous.
Our itinerary got changed last year due to bad weather but the ship did a bus tour. We did see a lot but not for long enough.
We have a tour booked through Amy Pace...70 Euro per person and it's an 8 hour tour.
You could customize the tour to make it less hours.
This is what we are doing this year:
My suggested itinerary would be to take a drive round the walled Capital,
>Valletta, to view the fortifications of the city and the harbours on
>either
>side of it, then to get the stunning view of the Grand Harbour from the
>Barracca Gardens on high grounds. St. John's co-Cathedral is only a five
>minute stroll down the road. This amazing monument used to be the
>Conventual
>church for the Order of St. John, and along with touring the church you'll
>also view the Caravaggio paintings in the Oratory.
> We'll then be picked up to proceed for a drive through Attard, Balzan
>and
>Lija, 3 quaint little villages nestled below Mdina, the walled city. The 3
>villages were built, when the inhabitants of Mdina, stopped feeling the
>need
>for living behind walls.
>
>Mdina, is what used to be the Capital of the island, until the building of
>Valletta. Here, it will need to be a walking tour, so you're able to take
>in
>the city's charm. Perched on a hilltop, Mdina has an irregular plan of
>narrow winding streets intended to confuse the enemy. This mediaeval city,
>has always been the seat of the island's nobility.
>
>A drive to Mellieha will allow for a little rest. The view from high, from
>by its 300 year-old church, is lovely - it is one of Mellieha bay, and the
>sister islands in the background. This can be followed up by another very
>pretty view, one of the rugged coastline across from St. Paul's Bay, very
>old world. On to St. Julian's and Sliema, thus balancing the old with the
>modern, and finally via Ta' Xbiex, a prestigious residential area with
>its
>early 20th century homes overlooking a yacht marina and enjoying the
>classic
>view of the Valletta bastions.
>
>The Tarxien Prehistoric Temples deserve a visit. They are a 3-temple site
>ranging between 2,500 and 2,900 B.C. Tarxien is the most highly decorated
>of
>the temple sites, the one that reveals most about the people who built
>them.
>
>Vittoriosa, the Maritime city is only a 10 minute drive away, this is
>where
>the Knights of St. John first settled before building Valletta, here to
>take
>a short walk in the Collachio, the area reserved for the Knights. This
>will
>be followed up with the impressive view of the entrance to the Grand
>Harbour
>and the Kalkara fishing village.
>
>The tour will also include Marsaxlokk, a picturesque fishing village.
>
>The excursion as proposed, involves two entrance fees, the cost being 6
>Euros/person (EUR 4.50 for seniors), not included in the quoted costs.
>
>Lunch can be had at the place of your choice.
>
>The proposed itinerary is only a suggestion, it can be altered or trimmed
>to
>your preference, even as the tour progresses.
Did you do this from a private tour operator? If so, can you provide contact info.It sounds like my kind of day? How long did it take ? we are in port from 7 am-5 pm. thanks

Gail I just booked a tour with this company today. Can hardly wait to see Kotor & area

I agree the trip to the top of the mountain was the most harrowing experience I ever had and I would not do it again. Especially in a van with only 8 of us and the driver sometimes on his cell phone.:eek:
But the views of the ship from above were spectacular! We evrn got a rainbow which made things even more beautiful.
Are there taxie's to take you up & then let you walk back down?

I could not get the early saver rate discount on my existing booking in Canada

Thank you so much for your help. It is very much appreciated. I had wanted to do the Paddan/ Hop on Bus combo but according to a booking website it is not available until later in May but I did notice it is available thru the cruise line but at a very expensive price. I think I will go with my original plan and visit on my own with your advice

Can you help me please. We will be in gothenburg on may 8 arriving on Serenade of Seas. From what I have read, we will take a shuttle to the city. Our top priorities for the day ar Feskekorka, Haga, Liseberg & Lilla Bommen Harbour. Can you advise where we will be dropped off in the city & in what order we should viit these place to make the best use of our time and the closeness to each other. We are in port from 8 am to 5 pm. any help you can give is greatly apprecialte. . I did look at the Stinsen sightseeing train but they do not start service until may 14. also can you advise where the hop on hop off bus route starts if we should decide to use this service.
Thank you

I love our May spring weather. The trees are getting their leaves, & flowers are blooming. The days are getting warmer & evenings are cool. We start our pool by mid May

Hi all
I am from Nova Scotia & frequent Halifax on a fairly regular basis. All of the above are great spots. The five fisherman is a favorite for an evening meal & I have never been there for lunch.
My very favorite is Durty Nelly's an authentic Irish Pub. Lots of good seafood and irish music. It gets great reviews on Trip Advisor as well

We are doing a tour with Mack Attack but not sure if it goes to this island?
-
We book a cruise based on the itinery not the ship regardless of where it sails. We're doing our 2nd trip "Down Under" leaving next week :)
-
We are from Canada. My husbands passport expires in July. We are leaving in March & both New Zealand & French Polynesia have an exit requirement that passports must be valid for three months beyond your date in that country. I had to renew as we would have missed the exit requirements by a few days. Our Canadian government has a place on the passport site where you can go to check entry & exit requirements for any country

It is the little icon just to the left of the search block (far right of web address block). It is kind of like an arrow in a circular motion. It is there for every web page and is used to download again the web address you are currently at.
Thank you for helping me. I'm back on now :)
-
I got the same thing with Firefox this morning. I just clicked the little icon to re-load the web site (right side of bar) and the RCL site came right back OK. The built in browser cache can cause grief sometimes.
Sorry but I don't know what icon you mean...is it when you open firefox or after you try to open royal caribbean as I don't see an ico
-
I too could get in using Explorer this morning but couldn't using Firefox (which is my favorite browser)

Maybe we'll all get upgrades when they are back up & running :D
-
The Royal Palace is within walking distance (apx 1/2 mile). I'd drop my luggage off at the ship, explore the market at aloha tower and visit the palace. After all, it is the only royal palace in the us...and had electricity before the white house ;)
I think the Palace may be closed as the 27th is on a Sunday. I really wanted to go there:(

Sounds like some sort of hijack attack. You did the right thing by not allowing anything to install. I would not use the link in your favorites. Just type www.royalcaribbean.com in your browser address page. Also, the site is down for me now.
when you click on the above link it goes to the same thing I was seeing. thanks for all the replies everyone. If I can't get in tomorrow I'll can. I just wanted to book another cruise that I saw earlier today on their site

Can one of you help me please? I just clicked on the Royal link in my favorites (I use Firefox) and what pops up is "DivxPlus Webplayer & then it asks me to click on upgrade to install. I haven't because I have no idea what it is but the picture looks like a Caribbean screen with waves & islands in the background. do any of you know what this might be?

I called yesterday. I sail in a month & final payment was made in Dec. I asked for the upgrade. The young lady said to hold on as she needed to check with resolution dept. After 5 minutes she was back & I got the upgrade. So far I have always excellent service and polite helpful staff. :)
Live on Infinity / Panama Canal
in Celebrity Cruises

We will be sailing Infinity Oct 9 from LA to Ft Lauderdale. It is our first time with Celebrity but we are diamond Plus with Royal Caribbean. We are looking forward to doing the canal as well as sailing with Celebrity. Is there a lounge for elite cruisers for before dinner drinks?
