  1. We are cruising out of Miami at the end of January.  We received the Adult Beverage package as part of our cruise booking.  I was just doing check in and was offered the Premium Beverage Package.  I've been searching and can't find what is included in our current package and if upgrading is worth the money.

    What is the difference?  Thanks!

Yes we can cancel and get full refund so I guess that is their get- out

Still deciding whether to go and accept amended itin or cancel

We are on the same cruise and just received the information today about the change in itin...  They have also changed boats from the Passion to the Vista.  They say they are sister ships, so there shouldn't be much difference.  We are disappointed also about the change, but at this point will go ahead with the trip and enjoy all the other stops.  If it changes any more than we may need to discuss cancelling.

  3. We were in an Owner's Suite on the Pearl during public school spring break and, much to my amazement, every time we trekked up to the Haven, it was empty. The g'kidlets traveling with us had no interest in hanging out there, preferring the Kids Club by far.

Wish we had the same experience on the Breakaway during spring break. This was probably because the main pool area was cold many of the days. Kids weren’t horrible, but they were running around jumping in and out of hot tubs and yelling. Again not horrible but not tranquil.

  4. Part of the issue with BA is the itinerary and time of year. I was in The Haven in mid March. When it’s cold (and it was about 4 of the 7 days) people are inside. It’s more crowded. I’ve sailed on the Spirit, Star and BA. suites every time. I loved the Haven, but understand it’s not for everyone. I didn’t love the huge boat compared to the Spirit and Star. But any day on a cruise boat is great. I understand people thinking too much space is spent on the Haven, but if people are willing to pay the price they will keep offering it. I don’t think Carnival has a space like that as an option so maybe that’s a better choose for some.

  5. The Epic has a Haven only sundeck with a bar. It’s called the Posh sundeck. About 50-60 passes are available to non Haven cruisers. It’s also adult only.

I saw something that they don’t offer those passes anymore for non Haven cruises. Might be different on different boats.

  6. Absolutely no reason to waste your money on one.

The Haven sundeck is 3 inches away from the Vibe (just a metal partition between the two).

Stay in the Haven and enjoy!

I was in The Haven last week and I enjoyed sharing a hot tub with three or four 10 year olds splashing and running around. Oh and when we could lay out on the warm deck I enjoyed listening to about eight-ten 15 year olds talk non stop for a few hours. (Side note I am in education so when I am on a trip I want to be far away from kids). Yes you are only separated by a few feet and a partition but it appears to be a different world. Would do it next time in a heart beat. Oh yeah I had to drag two lounge chairs from the inside to enjoy the deck and the warm sun.

  7. Just got done on a cruise in the Haven. Gave the butler 50 the first time she did something for us and 100 at the end. Loved the room steward gave him 40 +100 at the end. Favorite bartender about 100. Conc 100 (i did almost all my reservations on line). One person on the trip looks like she got a few hundred worth of $5s and gave those out as tips. Thought that was a great idea.

  8. I just got off the Breakaway. And did the Haven. There are many kids in The Haven. Not a ton but enough. If you want a truly adult only area The Vibe would be that. I would for sure do it next time especially if I were doing a cruise that had many warm days. (We only had 3 on the breakaway)

  9. Can you tell me more about the vibe beach club? I did a search on NCL and couldn’t come up with any info. Sounds like our cup of tea!

And thanks everyone for your suggestions.

It looks really cool. It is an adult only area. The one on the breakaway had two hot tubs. There were many chairs and lounges. Also a bar. The only reason we didn’t do it was we were in The Haven. Next cruise I would probably join.

  10. Hello All - I am a frequent reader of this thread but rarely a poster. I feel like I know so many of you from following the threads. We have also relocated this year, from California to Harrisburg, PA. Quite a culture shock, but I have finally achieved a career change that I have been pursuing for years!

We have sailed with Olivia a number of times, but due to our decreased income, we are now looking for more economical choices (and my wife can't give up that balcony..) We have just booked the Noordam Southern Caribbean leaving 11/3/10. We are pretty loyal to HAL, have sailed several other lines but just like HAL best. We would however sail Silverseas if we won the lottery :D.

Just wanted to say Hi and wish you all safe and wonderful travels. Maybe someday I will meet some of you.

    Blessings,

    Suzanne

My partner and I have sailed NCL a few times- We can get a suite for the price of Olivia- nice perks! I like Olivia- but have a hard time spending that kind of money! I do agree on Silverseas- someday!!! Happy sailing!

  11. My first cruise was on the Spirit a few years ago. I loved it. It is a different ship, but very nice. My partner and I splurged (it was our 10th ann) and got a suite. The service was awesome.

We also went on an Olivia cruise over Thanksgiving. It was a nice experience. Yes it is different than straight cruises. I agree with many the cost is very high. We can afford the cost of the cruise, but would rather not spend that kind of money. I say look for their 2 for 1 specials and try it once.

  12. My partner and I went on the 35th birthday bash- our first Olivia cruise. Here are my observations

1- Atmosphere is great. It is nice to hold hands, kiss, etc and not even think twice about it.

2- People were great- the women on the cruise, the staff, etc.. Very friendly.

3- Stops were pretty good except for the DR stop. We did not get off the boat, but from the reports of everyone who did it was a disaster.

4- The best stop was the last- their private island on the Bahamas.

5- Entertainment was good- some good some not so good.

6- Weather was good- except very windy the first couple days and the boat was rockin! Many sea sick people.

7- I lost some bucks in the casino- so that stunk! :( (but not blaming them)
