I can tell you one thing, it's cold!  We are on Escape in February...hope whatever is ailing the snow room gets fixed for your cruise and ours too.  I love going from the hot steam to the cold snow.  Very exhilarating IMO.

It does sound exhilarating which is what drew me to it! We'll be there in February too. Looking forward to it and hope it gets fixed as well for your cruise!

I am sailing to get away from the cold too, but was still looking forward to the snow room! There's something unique about being in the Caribbean and having access to snow!

Just got off of the Escape on 12/21.  The snow room was down for the first 2 days of the cruise, you could see it was being worked on.  But it was operational for the remainder of the week.

Phew. Thanks for the update. The review that I read on another site implied it was going to be shut down forever, so glad to hear that isn't the case.

OMG I agree with you. Very slippery and dangerous too. I almost fell wearing my shoes.

Was a bit safer in bear feet.

The whole week I was on Escape hardly anyone used it at all.

What i think is the floor is not suppose to ice up only the walls and ceiling. They will have to correct this problem on the Escape i think they nave corrected it on the Bliss and on Encore that is why we are getting reports of no problem.

Yikes, I could see how that would be dangerous. Hopefully they find a solution to that.

It was not operational when my sister and I were on the Escape in the fall..

I have been in the snow room a number of times. When you enter you notice the floor is iced over and is very slippery. If you go to far from the door you might fall trying to get back to the door to leave.I think this why they closed the room.I have taken one step in and close the door and held on to the handle and left in a minute or two.

It was operational on the Escape back in April. And they installed a snow room on the Encore which just launched (and it was up and running).

    Not working last week.

Thanks everyone for the updates and information! This is really helpful.  It seems like it might just be inoperable for the time being (?), but not necessarily permanently closed. Hopefully, they didn't decide to remove it permanently. Not a big deal, but was really interested in the Snow Room.

  3. Hello, I read a recent review on another site that briefly mentioned that the Norwegian Escape no longer has a Snow Room in the Thermal Suite. Can anyone confirm this? I am wondering if it was just temporarily closed or if it is actually no longer offered at all. This is the first time I have seen this and I was unable to find anywhere else that references this.

  4. On this picture,

Can someone tell me what the four sticky out half circles are above the lifeboats are.

    Sorry if it's been asked.

    Kezz

Looks like they're just viewing points..

I was wondering/hoping if they were going to add hot tubs in the "bumpouts" on the Vista, but neither the deck plans nor pictures seem to confirm. The image Loungerz has shown is a rendition and not an actual picture, so this leaves me wondering what really is there.

On the Breeze there are 2 hot tubs on each side on those decks and I know the Vista has hot tubs at Serenity, at the aft pool and by the Havana Pool (but the Havana pool area has limited daytime access) so I was hoping they'd have them like on the Breeze, but it looks like that isn't the case.

  5. That is the carnival inspiration. That is the former cigar bar they turned into alchemy.

    kybluecruiser,

Thanks for the info! It looks like you are correct. They must have accidentally added that pic to the album.

Here is a picture of the former Chopin Cigar Lounge, now the Alchemy Bar aboard the Inspiration...

And for fun, here are a couple pictures of the Carnival Vista Atrium LED column.

The one that looks like water is pretty cool -- it almost gives the illusion that a huge wave just crashed in through the roof.

  6. So I found this picture in the recently uploaded album called Carnival Vista on a social media site for Carnival Cruise Lines Italia. This pic is among 236+ other photos of Carnival Vista, but I am really wondering what room this would be. Anyone have an idea? It doesn't seem to fit the mold of the rest of the ship design and I don't recognize it. Though I will say that I love the way it looks whatever room it may be!

  7. may be a dumb question but what is the difference between a regular laundry service for $15 and the 'valet service'?

    thanks

    Exactly what I was thinking!

I didn't use either service or realize the service even existed until I got home and went through all the documents I saved to scan for a review I was going to write on the Breeze.

My guess is valet service is more like a dry cleaning service including pressing/ironing nice slacks, dress shirts and more formal attire in general.

Whereas the regular laundry service would be your casual wear such as jeans, shorts, T-shirts, socks, underwear, etc. The regular laundry service is simply washed, dryed and folded.

Also, to add to this... The regular laundry service gives you the option to stuff a bag full of clothes for the given price. The Valet Service charges per article of clothing. At least that's my take on it.

  8. Can you send that to me as well? I would love a reference! :)

Sure! I just uploaded it here for everyone!

We plan on taking advantage of sending out laundry at least twice on our 8 day cruise. Of course, we plan on taking advantage of the deal they usually offer, but we may need to use it again before that (DH works out daily). We don't want to take the time to do laundry ourself and are willing to pay the regular price at least once. We will be on the Breeze. Does anyone know the regular cost of filling a bag with regular, cotton clothes? Thank you

So it looks like $15 for a regular laundry bag and $50 for 5 laundry bags. There are also options for pressing and dry cleaning clothes.

  9. -Lanyard

-Motion sickness pills (if you need them)

-swim goggles (if you need them)

-ziplocks (for various things and for your luggage tags to keep them dry if you printed them)

-beverage mug/jug (for coffee or juice)

-bungee cord to hold open balcony door (if you have a balcony)

-a day bag/bag pack for port

-a fun local gift to give to your room steward (or other outstanding staff member)

  10. Hello,

regarding the Gym, the treadmills did have TVs which worked for touch screen display of your running progress/heart rate /other info you need to know about your treadmill itself. However, as of a few weeks ago the TVs did not appear to be working for movies/channels. I only tried 2 treadmills, but didn't see anyone else viewing any channels.

There are regular towels in the room in addition to beach towels.

Gym classes are in the morning from what I saw. They also had early morning yoga.

I'm not sure if I saw rowing machines or not.

There are showers in the gym locker rooms in addition to an aromashower in the spa area with various scents (i didn't use the spa) , but the aroma shower is just for rinsing (you have to wear your bathing suit).

    Hope this helps!

  11. Hello! I'd like to book a cove balcony for 3 people, and I know there are a few cove balconies on the Breeze that do not have a lifeboat above it. Can anyone tell me the cabin numbers to the cove balconies on Breeze that don't have a lifeboat directly above it? I've read that 2288 doesn't have a lifeboat above it, but 2288 is for 2 people only. Do the cabins next door to 2288 have an unobstructed view without a lifeboat? Please help! :) Thanks!

I can attest to room 2309 not having any obstruction of lifeboats directly overhead. I loved this cabin. Cove balconies are the best!

  12. Please please please remember that food opinions are so subjective! There was a huge FB group of us...some were very unhappy with the American Table and other aspects of the food. My DH and I had no complaints really. We don't go with high expectations and we don't eat 'gourmet' at home. Breakfast on the lido dec is meh, I did have an omlet and it was fine. DH had breakfast burritos at the Blue Iguana and enjoyed them. We did the sea day brunch and had steak and eggs and it was perfect. We went to the MDR for regular breakfast and had bagel, cream cheese and lox and that was fine too. The only thing I didn't care for was the ravioli on the last night. But we never went hungry and we had GREAT table mates!

As for the cruise itself, to us, it never felt crowded at all! We had a great room steward.

My favorite ship so far and have it booked for October 2016.

Agreed. Food is very subjective. I read many reviews stating the food was terrible. My experience was very positive with the food. I do not eat gourmet cuisine either and I am definitely not a food snob, so maybe that's why, but honestly I think there was always something good.

I have actually never eaten so much in my life! I had 3 meals a day and a 3 course dinner (appetizer + main + dessert) every day. I always left dinner feeling full. For breakfast, we either ordered the continental breakfast room service (which isn't the best, but was still good) or we ate the brunch in Blush first floor (overall delicious and good quality sit-down style breakfast). For Lunch we had pizza, Lido buffet, Guys or Blue Iguana. Only on one lunch day we had La Cucina pasta bar. If it was a port intensive day, we skipped lunch and ate something as soon as we got back on board plus Late dining. For dinner we were seated in the Blush late dining and ate there every single night.

Overall, the food was one of the best parts of the experience for me.

  13. What appetizers did you try?

I was on this cruise so I will chime in on this question.

I tried the Beef Sliders and they were VERY delicious. It comes with two mini sized beef burgers with a few toppings and a couple onion rings I think.

I also tried the Jamaican Jerk Wings (I think this is what they were called) and they were 4 chicken wings with a flavorful sauce. These were also good.

    :)

  14. I have not seen negativity about the Breeze.

    Maybe I am oblivious.

Like I said, this will be our 3rd time on her and I wouldn't spend all the money on something that I didn't think was worth it.. 3 times.

Surfjock, I think you misunderstood me. I meant "have you seen some of the things people complain about?" as in wow people complain about the silliest things, therefore I agree that we SHOULD take people's opinions with a grain of salt.:D People complain about the darnedest things. I think I read one review where the reviewer was sooooo upset that she couldn't find someone to clip a hole in her sign & sail card for a lanyard....

The fact that you have sailed on her three times does further convince me that she is worth it -- in addition to all of the positive reviews I have read about her. :)

  15. December 5th will be our 3rd time on the Breeze and we LOVE her!

Just remember to take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt, because different people like different things.

Cruise Z.. are you part of the big roll call on another social media site?

I haven't joined in any roll calls, but I may look into it for sure! Yeah true about taking people's opinions with a grain of salt.. Have you seen some of the things people complain about?!

  16. Hi All! We've been reading over the most recent review for the Breeze and I'm getting a littler nervous . The reviews have gone way downhill since we first reserved our spot back in April. We are currently booked on the Breeze on Feb 27, 8 Day Eastern Caribbean to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, and DR. BUT, the new reviews are going downhill.

We have just found an alternative 8 Day on the Sunshine that goes to St. Maarten, Grand Turk, San Juan, and St. Kitts.

Anyone been on both boats and have an opinion, or love one set of ports better than the other? We sailed the Liberty in February 2015 and loved it, so I'm fearful of being disappointed this go-round. Thanks!!

I am in the same situation. I am booked for the Dec 5th, 2015 sailing and I have been reading the reviews for the past 5 months on Cruise Critic and watched them slowly progress to a decline in ratings... So much so that it is troubling. It seems the people who have had more cruising experience tend to hate her and those who have had less experience with which to compare her either love her or say she is just okay.

On the other hand, I have been looking at some other review apps and the reviews have been more positive than negative for the Breeze. I am locked into this cruise and I am sure I will like it as it will be my FIRST cruise ever!:D But I am also going into with the mindset that it is what you make of it. This is the most expensive vacation I've taken and technically the first and only MAJOR vacation since landing my first permanent job after college with paid vacation and such, so there are certain things that would cause me to be disappointed, but honestly I am super excited and am going to make the most of it! I booked a cove balcony so I know it is going to set the standard for potential future cruises (maybe a mistake! eek!)

  17. I've not read any of the reviews, but I know the formula.

    "OMG, the worst cruise EVER.

1st, the knives at dinner were placed with the blade facing in (or out) and they should be the opposite, dinner RUINED.

2nd, I am allergic to the color pink, but purple makes me channel the spirit of my departed great grandmother who invented velcro and they had NO PURPLE flowers anywhere. I couldn't talk to great grandma, cruise RUINED."

Unless you came back from the cruise missing a limb, a loved one, or it sank, how was it a bad cruise? Exactly!

This is HILARIOUS! You win the comments for this thread! I think this is pretty much true for reviews of anything in general. It's amazing the things people will criticize.

  18. @ AmberTeka, I think you are right, it does seem that Carnival does not get the recognition/appreciation it deserves. There are a lot of pros and cons to each side, I am just going through a sort of buyers remorse. I am overthinking a lot of things. I should be a lot more excited seeing as I have always wanted to go on a cruise and this will be the first one. In any case, I am sure it will be a great experience.
