1. I booked a cruise on the Oasis through United Cruises. One of the promotions was a free Specialty Dinner for 2. I am unclear how to book the specialty dinner for free. I have call Royal Caribbean and United Cruises and everybody is given me different information. Royal told me to sign in and book the reservation. I don't think this is right because I think we would be paying for it. If anyone here has any experience with this, I would really appreciate it. I haven't been on Royal Caribbean in a while. Thank you!

  2. Just got back today from our cruise and we went to British Colonial. It was very nice and clean. The view was gorgeous. It was a short walk from the port. The beach chairs were nice and padded. The area was well maintained. We were given towels upon arrival. Everyone was very friendly. The hotel was beautiful inside. We spent the majority of our time on the beach but we did get in the pool some too. When we got ready for lunch, we went up to the pool bar and ordered our food and drinks. Honestly, it was a little tough to order $40 worth of food and drinks each. There were 4 of us so we had $160 credit. After lunch we left our tab open and came back for nachos and soft drinks before heading back to the ship. Even after the 18% gratuity, there was a little credit left. We just left it as extra tip for the wait staff. Highly recommend this place.

  3. I am going on the Fascination this coming week and staying in a Grand Suite. We were in a Grand Suite on a RC cruise a few years ago and they had quite a few perks such as a concierge room for drinks and snacks in the afternoon, free ironing of your clothes on formal night, plus a few other nice perks. Will I get that with my Grand Suite this week? Sorry if that was already somewhere on here, didn't see it. I have a travel iron but I know from previous experience not to try to sneak it on. They really should have more laundry rooms on the ship for this reason. Thanks.

  4. Do you just pay when you get there? Interested in doing this when we go on our cruise in May. Debating on this or the Comfort suites so we can use the Atlantis. I have points for the Comfort suites but all of their fees for third and fourth person, environmental fees, housekeeping, etc add up and make it not such a great deal. The Melia looks like a good deal.

  5. I am interested in booking the comfort suites in Nassau for one night in May. Actually, I won't even need it for the night. We are coming in on a cruise ship and want to use the Atlantis for the day. I have some points that I can transfer into the program (it is 25,000 choice privilege points per night) but then they want to charge me 15.95 per person energy charge , $5 housekeeping per person , and $40 per person for the 3rd and 4th person. There are 4 of us (my boys are 18 and 20. Kinda expensive isn't it? Has anyone had luck using points and not getting hit with all the extra fees?

  6. Carter29072 - You could try to search up something in the area of US Hwy 92 and I-95. This is just to the W of the Daytona Intl Speedway. There's a strip of restaurants of various types. From there, it's easy to head E towards the beach, and easy to go W on 92, or I-95 just to the South and get on I-4 to head to Tampa. I would suggest going to http://www.hotels.com and search against Daytona Beach. Look for places near the Speedway, or on W. Speedway Blvd. I just checked, and there are some moderate hotels in that general area.

Great Idea! I remember there being alot of dining and shopping around the speedway so I am sure that I can find a hotel around there. Thanks for this suggestion.

  7. have you tried or considered Chase Suites? They have two bedroom suites with a pull out sofa. They even have one bedroom suites with a pull-out and I think you can get two double beds. Depending on how you are traveling they have both a park and sail and a fly and sail packages that include either free parking and port transportation or transporation from the airport to the hotel to the port to the airport.

    We enjoyed our stay there.

Those do sound great but now we have a change in plans. In the last day we have decided that we are going to drive down and stay probably up in Daytona or Daytona Beach and then get up the next morning and drive the rest of the way to the port. Since we are driving with 3 kids, they tend to get tired and this seems to work better for them if we can stop earlier in the day the day before and unpack at the hotel. We will be coming from SC. Now, I would love some great suggestions for Daytona or Daytona Beach. We really don't care to stay at the beach because it will be crowded that week. A nice hotel right near the highway in Daytona (hwy #4?) would be great. Thanks for any input!

  8.
The Doubletree at Rocky Point is a suite configuration which would be suitable for a family of 5.

The other option is to bid for 2 rooms on Priceline. Just don't exceed a price that makes sense for you vs. the conventional cost of one room. Scroll back a few posts for my step by step bidding strategy. I think you have a good shot of success for 5/31.
A suite would seem to work for us I think. Do you know anything about the Springhill by Marriott that is around there. I have seen those around and they look nice from the outside. The rate posted on their site is $159 per night. I will accommodate all of us and includes breakfast. Sounds really worth it. Any thoughts on it?
  9.
No, didn't get it through Priceline (although I've tried for weeks). I called them direct and asked for Government rate (I work for the state). That is what they offered me. I wanted to get one of those $80 priceline deals but I never won (even after several people taught me how to bid). <G>
But I'm happy with the Renaissance. Sounds like it will be a wonderful experience.
Thanks for your response. I have never tried priceline before and I am a little scared to try it. My husband and I are going on a cruise with our 3 children ages 16, 12, and 10 so our hotel room has to be large enough for the 5 of us. If we book a room and get locked in to something that won't accomodate the 5 of us, I would hate to have already paid on priceline. Don't won't to pay $250 for a room either ofcourse. You got a great price at $139 per night. I would love to get a rate like that going directly thru the hotel. I called and the best rate i could get was $279, definitely no deal. She also said that because of fire hazard I could not request a roll away over the phone but implied that I could ask for one when I got there. I simply could not cram all of us in two beds. My 16 year old son is bigger than his dad! If I could get the 139 rate i would take the chance. I think the fact that our our trip is may 31st does not help. This is price vacation season. If I decide to use Double tree as a backup, which doubletree location is the location that recommended? Is the one on Rocky point drive or the one near the airport? They may end up being cheaper. Unfortunately we don't work for the government or have a corporate discount. Thanks for any input.
  10.
I decided to try another hotel because I had a bad feeling about Doubletree. I got the same $139 rate at Renaissance which I think (tell me Ken) I'll like better than Doubletree. I'm still trying priceline....but even today I got turned down after going all the way to $100. I'm renting a car and the car rental place will take me and pick me up at the port so I guess paying $139 without having to pay for a shuttle is ok.
Did you get the $139 Renaissance rate thru Priceline? We are looking for a room for 5/31/06 and the cheapest rate on the renaissance website is $279. If I go thru Priceline, I really don't get to choose my hotel until I am already locked in, is this correct?
