I tried to make the same one.  To be less circumspect, what is the point in replying/answering a member's post that is about 1.5 years old?

First I did not see that it was 1.5 years ago. I was trying to be helpful and answer a question as I had personal knowledge and experience. I was looking up information on the new due dates that have went into effect and found this thread.

When you post on a thread responding to something a year and a half old out of the blue, it can cause confusion.

Yet there is only 4 pages on this thread. Wouldn't take much to look. Also as I quoted the person I was answering...

Bob all it would have taken was to read the person I quoted as that was the question I was answering.

Thought it was self explanatory. I was answering a question that had been asked. If y'all had read the question you should know, They were wondering if you booked a b2b2b if the due date would be the same date for all or not. The answer is each cruise has it's own separate due date. My last cruise was a b2b2b2b and my last cruise was longer so the due date was before the due date of my first cruise that was shorter.

Interesting, maybe other companies apply similar policies. What would happen in a B2B2B 10 + 11 + 7 = 28, would they be counted separately or only one together?

Not sure if it has been answered so. Each would be counted separately with the corresponding due date based on cruise length.

  5. So, ran into an "problem" on the Sunshine in October.

Was a day at sea and hit my 15 drinks about 1am. Tried to order a beer and pay for it, they wouldn't allow me. Is this normal?

Just a FYI...Had a few bloody mary's with breakfast and and man...those remaining 13 go fast......

At 15 drinks you are cutoff. However if you are able to keep track of your drinks you can buy a friend a drink at 14.

  6. Tax is charged in US ports. I have had it be as low as .17 cents but it is there and it does not show on 'total' line at bottom.

Doubt if they are breaking tax laws for you.

You need to look harder. :)

just looked at past invoices. All my drink purchases were 0.00 no taxes were added. Maybe I haven't cruise yet from a state that makes them pay.

Wow, you are lucky! You should take that luck and go to the casino!!

May I ask which ports you have departed from?

Don't do casinos that much. I walk past a Casino in Vegas and put money down on craps once in awhile but that's it.

As for ports. Fort Lauderdale, Long Beach, San Pedro, Singapore, Sidney and Seattle. Would love to do Mediterranean or any European but.. they are not available during my vacation time.

  7. Even if you prepay for your Cheers package, you will still get charged the tax on the individual drinks you consume while in port. They are added to you S&S card.

Individual drinks are also charged tax while in port.

Guess I have been lucky. I have never paid tax on a drink. When I get the printout it has never had any charges for drinks or tax. Before we leave port I have already had at least 3 or 4. Hope my luck continues to hold.

  8. On the 10/23, Carnival Breeze cruise, we had Cheers. The main things I noticed was that some of the high end spirits were not available or they were only available at certain bars. For us, the most noticeable were, Patron Roca and Makers Mark. I was most taken back by the Makers Mark. It's top shelf but not that "top shelf".

Also, they no longer serve Stoli. There are higher end vodkas, such as: Belvedere and Grey Goose. I think this is because of providers rather than cost.

    Take care,

    Mike

If I am reading you correctly. You could get "Maker's Mark" just you had to hunt it down. If that is the case I would say because of the everything is covered up to $50.00. Try an experement. Take someone out to eat. Go Dutch. See what they order then take the same people out to eat and let them know you are paying and see what they order. Most will change from what they normally order. Your true friends menu price will go down and others will order starters and dessert.

  9. Yes, it sure does. So if we did that we would be at the break even point or above? I will go back a few pages and see if I can find what A Sea Bugg was referring to. Thank you!

Yes that is the break even point. Also if that is all you are going to drink you can be adventurous and try NEW drinks without worrying of going over the 15 drink max.

  10. My husband and I are sailing in an 8 day cruise 12/18 on Sunshine. I've seen the prices for coffee, espresso, milkshakes. What is the cost of something such as a BBC or a frozen drink? We aren't heavy drinkers - am thinking perhaps a mimosa in the morning/coffee for him; maybe two drinks by the pool, a pre dinner drink, soda at dinner (he may get wine) and one during a show. Not sure that justifies the $919 cost for the two of us. Can anyone offer advice, please?

Read a few pages back. Also looks like you are doing 5 drinks plus soda coffee and milkshakes per day

  11. Personally I can't tell the difference between a 10.00 plastic bottle of Vodka, Sky, Skull or Gray Goose. Now I would much rather have a Bombay Sapphire G&T over Beefeaters or Seagram's. I also agree that it is a waste of most Top Shelf Brands when it is added to fruity coctails.

As for the lack of hangover with top shelf all I can assume is that you don't drink as many because they normally cost more. I have always drank a big glass of water before bed and drink water throughout the day and have not had problems with a hangover.[/url]

  12. It depends, how many Corona's do you plan on drinking a day?

You could have added that to brake even you would need 10 Coronas. Also if you order speciality coffee or energy drinks that would be a plus. I understand all it takes is a simple google search to find out that Coronas cost 4.95 plus 15% gratuity. If you add in a coctail or two or a glass of wine or so it changes everything.

  13. Hi Everyone.

DH and I are going on the Breeze soon with some family members and will be purchasing the Cheers program. There are two other cabins in the group. In each of the other cabins there is one person that also wants to purchase Cheers but the other adult does not.

My question is...is there a way to switch cabins before sailing and buy cheers and maybe switch back if they find out it is a hassle not being able to access your original cabin? For example one of the cabins has kiddos in it and they might decide they want to switch back.

Has anyone heard or have done this?

Same question. We asked about the Cheers package where only my daughter and I drink, my husband and son do not. Our carnival agent suggested that my daughter and I book as rooming together so that we could buy the cheers package on line and then switch rooms once we are on board. Has anyone done this and did it work?

Yes it happens all the time when booking put the people who want the package in the same room. Then all you have to do is swap sign and sail cards. Just remember to swap back when you exit the boat. Or just make sure that you are with the person who is assigned to the room. Or get a extra door card.

  14. Can I upgrade to a cheers package on my last day of a 4 day cruise. Don't feel like spending for days I'll be at port most of the day.

Hmm do you think you will have at least 5 drinks plus milkshakes, energy drinks, specialty coffee and other drinks that are included. Or another way to look at it is do you think you will have at least 20 drinks on your 4 day cruise.

  15. I am contemplating sailing Legend to Alaska next summer. I notice on the CHEERS program that each drink will trigger a tax while in domestic waters which on an Alaskan cruise would be the entire cruise except the bit in Vancouver. How much is the tax %?

Did a Google search it said Seattle was 9.6 tax rate. So on a 10.00 drink that would be .96

  16. It's a good question but even if they had lockers I am not sure that I would risk my passport in one. Our upcoming cruise will be our first with passports and I think we're just going to leave them aboard in the safe.

I pack accordingly. If I were to do Dunn's I would use a cheap backpack and double ziplock bags. Put what you don't want wet in the ziplock bags and put them in the backpack. If you are going somewhere that you don't have to worry about water and you take better cameras I take my camera bag and keep it connected to me. If I go to a beach or other excursions I plan accordingly. Either me or my DW keeps whatever we have next to us. We don't just walk away and expect it to be there when we get back. After all it us your items and your responsibility to make sure they are not taken.
