  1. We were going to book an interior Family Harbor room on the Horizon because all of the cove balcony rooms were sold out. However, I realized that a regular cove balcony room on the same deck  (NOT Family Harbor section) is only $100 more than a FH interior. I feel like it's a no brainer, but I'm worried we'll be really missing out on not having access to the Family Harbor lounge. My boys are 11 and 9 and I feel like it would have been such a nice perk for them to go run and grab snacks, ice cream, etc. Thoughts/opinions?

  2. Just carry a bottle of water in your hand... it doesn't have to go in the WATER with you while you're in the water!! Leave the water in whatever transportation you use! Take a drink before you start the waterfalls...and then when you're done, you can have another drink!

By the way...your S&S cards, DL and even cash CAN get wet!!! Water won't hurt them!

Our 7 and 5 year old boys will be with us, so we'll definitely have to have water with us at all times, they're always thirsty lol!

I'm pretty sure we're going to want to be hands free sliding down limestone waterfalls, so I don't know about carrying them...

  3. We will be doing the 27 waterfalls tour while in Amber Cove in August (only doing 7 waterfalls). We have a waterproof pouch to keep on us for our S&S cards etc. but what about carrying water? We will be wearing life vests and will be fully submerged in water at times, so a backpack seems out of the question...any suggestions?

  4. I've been using Packing Pro for years.

With 2 young kids, there are so many things to pack for vacation (as well as things to prep and buy beforehand) so this app has been a great way to visually organize what needs to be packed, and where it needs to be packed. Sure, I could write my lists, but they could become so messy after a while when I'm adding and deleting things, or changing where things need to go.

The last couple years, we have driven down to Florida and did a few days at Disney, and then a week on the gulf coast. I needed to essentially pack for 3 separate events: the road trip down, the hotel for Disney, and then the week at the beach. Can you imagine what a written list would have looked like?

Packing Pro takes a bit of clicking around to get comfortable with it, but after a while you get used to it, and adding items or customizing becomes second nature. Now I can duplicate it year after year and just tweak it a bit based on my kids' changing needs. My lists will be a tad different this year since we're cruising instead of doing Florida.

  5. We drive from NY to FL every summer. My boys are the same age as yours, 7 and almost 5. We usually leave around 6pm, and drive 24 hours straight! (with just stops for bathroom/food). I would definitely do the drive, especially with your kids that age- kids this age are so much more flexible, independent, and tolerant. Also, since kids' bodies are also more flexible, they can sleep in their car seats and feel refreshed, unlike us. My advice is to make sure they have a busy day the day you're leaving, so they zonk out in the car and get a full, deep sleep so they're ready to go the next day when you arrive at the port.
