  1. Have done 2 Lido deck cabins and doing Lido again in October for a b2b, can only say I love Lido!!! No noise, close to pool, bars, buffet....couldn't ask for anything better....enjoy:)

  2. no of course that's not what I'm saying. We all like what we like. What I said was it would take an idiot to book a cruise on Royal/Regal with all of our preferences for cruising. They're not good fits.

So, you're saying it's not a good fit for you? For some of us it is a good fit...don't ya just love all the different choices:)

  3. I don't need to touch a hot stove either to know it's hot. I know what we like and I know where we spend our time. Most of the balconies will not seat two people with their feet up and then a good percentage that will get soot rained on them. Would surely take an idiot to book that no?

Well, I hope that those of us who like the Royal and Regal are not "idiots"...that's not what you're saying is it:eek:

Good to read you review. It will help a lot of people make decisions - if they need a big bathroom get a mini suite - if they want a big balcony choose a cabin that has one. Unfortunately it is difficult to know these things before you cruise on a new ship.

Sorry you had to be the guinea pig for us all! :)

Who do you usually sail with and to where?

I hope you have a wonderful experience on your next cruise.

Why would it be difficult to know certain things about any ship or vacation? If you do research with any vacation, certain thing should not be such a big surprise:)

  5. "The staff of this ship does not smile. We could not figure out if they are all unhappy or have been told to be unfriendly. . The whole ship just feels strange and unfriendly. "

Just read this from one of the reviews for that ship.. and I think they were right on.. could not have said it better!

We sailed on the Royal on 9/27. Have to say that this cruise had an extremely friendly staff. They bent over backwards to do whatever they could to please. Find it perplexing how everyone sees the same cruise differently. Not my favorite ship, but would sail on her again:)

  6. Officially, Canada does not have any length of validity requirement. To be consistent however, Princess will not let you enter it into the personalizer outside the 6 month window.

Since they extend life from date of expiration, there's no downside to doing it early and be safe.

Just paid my cruise in full today. Spoke with Princess about the date of our passport expiration and was told it was not red flagged, so no problem.

  7. If you are travelling on a USA passport; your passport is valid until the expiry date for travel in Canada & the USA.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

With the Canada cruise I also thought you could travel up to the date it expires. But, will renew next week just to be safe!

  8. I would expect that just as many if not more would prefer the fees to a increase in the base fare. At least with the fees you have the option to use the service and incur the fee or not, just as with many existing fees and services offered.

Agree 100% RDC! Why raise the fare....I rarely use room service and let it be my decision if I want to eat at a pay venue!!

  9. OP- thanks for your review. I sailed on Royal in December and really enjoyed the experience. I wouldn't pay attention to any flames. If Princess allowed you to be with your "elite" travel partners, that's all that matters. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Gotta agree with this. We have asked about a couple traveling with us, and Princess did not have a problem with this:)

  10. Thanks for everyone's responses. I talked it over with my wife and we've decided to stick with the Royal Princess. Although going to Quebec City would be wonderful, we now believe that the drawbacks of sailing on the Dawn would outweigh the benefits. We'd probably love day 1 in Quebec City on the Dawn and then spend the rest of the cruise wishing we'd taken the Royal :o. And she made a very good point. Quebec City is close enough that we can always choose to just fly there for a quick weekend getaway sometime.

Once again, thanks for the responses :)
