  1. So, I'm watching these videos of these idiots on the Carnival Legend, and while I'm not really surprised, I am a little confused about a couple things. One, I can clearly see the Captain wandering around in the middle of it (looks maybe like Captain Gazzano?). I thought this fight was in the early morning hours, looks like outside the Red Frog? What the hell was he doing there? I know he is very social guy, but to wind up in the middle of a bar brawl that late at night is not good. The other thing, why is the female security officer so pissed at the guy taking the video? Shouldn't she be helping to break up the fight.

Most disturbing of all, I read a story that said passengers had complained to the Captain about the one family from the start. They family said they were told "what do you want me to do about it?" This is EXACTLY the response our friends and I got when we complained about unruly (like really dangerously unruly) kids on a recent Legend cruise. On the cruise after ours a kid threw a condiment bottle down ten decks and almost hit someone in the atrium bar. It's NOT acceptable.

Carnival and the shipboard security force need to reign in these adult idiots AND the ridiculously out of control kids. If they did that, maybe they wouldn't need to worry about the person taking video of the mob fights in the common areas...

  2. We did a trans-pacific on Legend last year and it was a wonderful ship and crew! They seemed to throw a fun "party" for almost any occasion! The live music on board was great, and the entire crew and entertainment staff were very friendly. We had a balcony on Port side around deck 7 aft. It was quiet but still just steps or short elevator from everything except main shows. If you have anything more specific I will answer if I can.

  4. Is it always just $100 obc? Im a Carnival veteran but always just booked ES with my PVP. I was actually thinking this time, on my normal April cruise I would book on board but not sure $100 is enough incentive. I like the piece of mind i get the wayI always book. Is it ever more? For longer cruise or something?

  5. Hello

Next month is our first cruise (Pacific Islands ex Sydney)!

I believe we can bring onboard a small quantity of non-alcoholic

beverages but only as cans or cartons (not bottles).

I am wondering if there are any free/included or low cost

drink options onboard and where would we find them eg

juice, cordial, drinking water, hot drinks?

We are highly unlikely to drink alcohol so that is one

way we can keep our costs down ;-)

    Thanks in advance.

I sailed Legend from LA to Sydney last year and it was the only ship I have ever been on that threw parties for all guests an had FREE drinks. On the crossing they had three of them and all the free drinks you could handle in an hour!

  6. We're there on the 29th also. First time to all of the ports , first time on the Sunshine. Reviews are so mixed on this ship not even paying attention to them anymore. Going with an open mind and plan on having a blast !!!

Agreed. My wife and I always make our own fun anyway, I just can't get a feel for the ship when the reviews are almost all at one end of the spectrum or the other.

I do appreciate ALL the info though. Looking forward to the 4/29 cruise!

  7. We have sailed a B2B on the Sunshine last Nov and have 2 more B2B's booked -- next Jan and April (24th and 29th.)

Lido buffet can get crowded at prime lunch time, but we waited 'til a little later and everything was fine. We always took our lunch plates to the Havana Bar area.

Both the Italian and Asian stations do omelets in the morning -- 1 station at the Italian and 2 stations at the Asian. Not usually crowded.

Enjoyed the Steakhouse -- good food and good service. We had late dining in the MDR and had the same waitstaff team both weeks. They found out I like creme brulee for desert and it was available on several nights.

Looking forward to Jan and April -- especially the Journey Cruise 4/29. :)

Thanks for the info and see you 4/29!

    • Steakhouse is fabulous, as always. Free bottle of wine if you book it on the first night!

    • The Serenity area is to die for! It's on the other side of the ship from the screaming kids (and adults) on the water slides! Love it.

    • We didn't go to elegant night for the first time ever and tried JiJi's. Very glad we did. It was yummy, low key and for $15 a person, very well worth it!

    • Havana Bar is a super great place - especially the first 3 days when no one know it's there. They have breakfast yummies and lunch snacks there too (free of charge!)

    • We ate at Capitan's (Italian) for lunch (it was free).

    • The spiked shakes, which was all my MIL and wife raved about the entire year wait until the cruise, weren't very good.

    • ALCHEMY BAR! Best place ever if you drink.

    Hope that helps! Enjoy!

ETA - it's my favorite ship of the fleet that I've been on. We went last December and hit Cuacao, Aruba and Grand Turk. I loved the layout. It never felt crowded but I think that too depends on the time of year and how booked the ship is

Great stuff! Good info on the bar first few days. Same deal on, the Breeze I think, in the Havana Bar. And I'll definitely try to hit steakhouse on first night, I heard about the free wine!

  8. Fortunately having previously sailed twice on the Sunshine, this "warning" is of no use to us, and not even close to our past 2 experiences. We are also booked on the April 29, 2016, 9 day cruise based solely on our previous 2 very enjoyable cruises on the Sunshine.

The entire history of this ship seems to be a mixed bag. People seem to love it or hate it, nothing between. I'm catching the hint about crowds though that's good info and seems consistent. See you on the 29th!

  9. Just got off on 9/6. Re: the comedians in the limelight lounge. You do need to get there about 30 minutes before the show. they then make you exit out the rear. Most people would then go up a flight of stairs and then down and back which was a pain. Instead, when you exit out the rear, take an immediate left and go outside, then go to about lifeboat section 19 and go in that door. It will take you back to the line. The one thing I didn't like about the limelight lounge, they had two comedians on first half of the trip and they repeated their shows each night and then two more comedians on the last part of the cruise and they also repeated their shows.

Loved the Epic rock show. If you like the 80's rock music, don't miss it.

We did do anytime dining and went around 5:30 every night and didn't have to wait.

I also heard mix reviews about this ship and took it with a grain of salt but I actually hated the ship. Be warned that the entertainment staff is not that great. We had donkey as the cruise director and he was ok but we never really saw him. Gemma was annoying and didn't seem very friendly. We did like Stephen (aka Billy bob bingo). He seemed like a real nice guy.

Around 10 p.m. most nights in the red frog pub they have a trivia thing. I wish I had remembered his name. He was a nice guy as well. There were 10 questions (2 rounds) and during it he would ask a question and one person from your team would run up and give the answer and if you were correct, you got a free drink.

One morning they had all the towel animals on the deck by the pool. It was cute to see.

They played Bingo a little different than the past (dont know if it is a new thing on all ships or just Sunshine). Usually you fold down the number that is called. On this one, they sold stampers for $2 or you would cross out with a pen. So if you plan on playing Bingo bring a pen if you don't want to spend money on a stamper.

We also did the social plan where you pay the $25 for the week (or $5 a day) and you can use most social plans. We had it all set up to use imessenger but they took that app off. fortunately my son had whatsap and instagram on his phone and he was able to use it. Just remember to put in on airplane mode. So if you plan on doing this, make sure you have all the apps already downloaded because we spent almost 2 hours trying to figure it out before we sailed (he had to keep texting his friends to make sure they were using the same thing).

Be careful when you buy any drinks. My son went to get a bucket of beer and they charged him for five beers instead of four. He never looked at it and they don't give you a receipt. I caught it when I printed out the charges to my room. Lady at guest service was nasty about it. So scrutinize anything you sign.

Last, they have two machines that are like atms. One is located where the gift shops are (the side where the sell the liquor). You can print out the charges to your room as well as get smaller bills (ie you have a $50 and want smaller bills, you put it in the machine and you get smaller bills).

That is all great information thank you!
