  1. Staying at the Ramada by Wyndham Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruise port December 1, 2018, has anyone from cruise critic stayed there?
Not at all fancy but I thought it was clean, adequate. Nice Pub attached to get a burger and a beer. Breakfast was very crowded so I just took mine back to my room and ate it there. Transfer to the ship was available and on time.

  2. Can anyone recommend any tour companies in Melbourne, Australia. We are only going to be there for one day. We are looking to do a private tour in order to get in as much as possible in our limited time.
AATKing is an Australian tour company . I toured with them while I was in Australia a few years ago.

  3. And another interesting aside. While I was on the phone with the corporate rep. I received an email....... "the email" stating that my October, 2018, cruise will not be an ***** one either. There it is official. Another disappointment. Sigh.

    Pooh

Thanks to Cruise Critic I too got a $200 room credit for my January 19th sailing on Royal. My travel agent called, was on hold for quite some time but she got me the credit. Thanks again Cruise Critic

  4. Here in the US I go regularly to a licensed massage therapist for deep tissue massages. Since I will will be on 2 20 day cruises I was looking for recommendations on the islands rather than having the people on the ship do the work. I haven't found the shipboard work to be worth the exorbitant prices charged. I will check the island boards. Thanks for the advice.

  5. I'm sure you realize just how much territory you're covering there. Care to narrow it down a little? I'm assuming you're asking about a land based therapist vs a spa masseur/masseuse?
Yes land-based therapist I'm on back-to-back 20-day cruises I'll be in St Thomas, Martinique ,Granada, Bonaire ,Curacao, St. Kitts ,St Lucia, Barbados and Antigua

  6. I agree 100% on this below.

We have sailed the Island many times, the last time was after her major changes.

The biggest issues for us was the removal of the aft 1/3 of the promenade deck the removal of the Universe Lounge, and major dining issues

There were long lines every night of our 14 day Med cruise for AT dining that stretched around the atrium from 5pm to 8:30.

Don't expect any changes in an 11 day dry dock. This sounds like a normal maintenance DD.

Long line for anytime dining on IP Jan '17 too

  7. I fell on a tour in Dominica and by the time I got back to the ship I was limping pretty badly. Once I finally found the medical center there was a nurse and an EMT on duty and they took prompt and good care of me. Had I wanted to I could have waited for the doctor but he wasn't going to be back until about the time the ship sailed. I was perfectly content with the nurse and EMT they also gave me a baggie of supplies... gauze, bandages. antiseptic & scissors to treat my wound and gave advice for my twisted ankle. I got an itemized statement which I could send in to the trip insurance company. Still waiting to be reimbursed.

  8. You will be able to charge most things, but there are always a few places that don't take credit cards so I advise having a few Euros on hand. Do you have a debit card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees? [e.g. Charles Schwab] If so, you will find ATMs in airports, train stations, banks, etc. Also, at the end of your cruise you will be outside the Euro-zone so you will probably need a little of the local currencies (although they may take Euros).

Is Bucharest outside Euro-zone? It has been many many years since I was in Europe so am not familiar with the term.

  9. I am doing a Uniworld cruise..Amsterdam to Bucharest in May. Since it is supposed to be all inclusive is there a need to bring euros? I will have a few days before & after on land but have a good credit card.

  10. I have 5 nights in Melbourne & have too many choices for hotels;Pegasus Aparthotel, Grand Hotel M Gallery, Grand Chancellor, Rydges, Doubletree, Causeway Inn on the Mall & the Jasper. I want to do some walking & markets but also need to do laundry & get a massage & take some day trips. Any thoughts on where to stay?
