  1. If you are keen on having some shade and privacy on the balcony, I would suggest seeing if there is an opportunity to change to one of the superior deluxe balconies at the aft of E deck. These cabins and balconies are exactly the same size and layout as those on D deck but have a covered balcony.

We love the E deck cabins. The E deck cabins are above an entertainment venue - but we have never been bothered by noise when staying on E deck starboard side. I understand the speakers in the club are on the port side   - so that might be something to be wary of if you are able to change to E deck.

  2. Hi

Having tried both we prefer Club Dining. We like having the same table each night with the same waiters and same table companions, (or table for 2 if you book early enough and that is your preference).. It means you can progress from the introductory 'where are you from' 'have you cruised before' conversations -and really get to know each other over the duration of the cruise. You also develop some good banter with the waiters. On Freedom Dining - if you share with others, every night seems to be like a first night in terms of conversations round the table. Club Dining times are geared such that you will finish dinner and still have about half hour to get to the show. If you are on Freedom and have to wait for a table (especially if you want a table for two and get given a pager)-getting to the show on time can be a bit hit and miss. On Freedom dining there are times that are more popular than others -so if you want a 7.30pm to 8pm slot - then be prepared to stand in a queue. With Club you know exactly what time you will be going in and can structure your evening accordingly. These points and differences will be more important on longer cruises. With a 7 night cruise it is not as important -particularly if you plan to try the select dining restaurants on a couple of nights. It really is each to his own -and there are strong supporters of both dining types. These are just my own opinions and preferences. Whatever you decide to do -enjoy!

  3. Hi

Do Cunard allow you to take soft drinks cans purchased ashore on board for use in your cabin?

Is there space in the cabin fridge to store these -or is it all taken up by a mini-bar arrangement. (I will be in a normal balcony cabin)

    Thanks

  4. Hi

I will be taking my first Cunard cruise in June 2017 and my cruise personaliser has just started allowing me to pre-book the verandah restaurant - which I will do for a couple of evenings.

There does not seem to be any facility to pre-book lunches in the verandah. I understand that the verandah does offer lunches -so do these bookings need to be made on board?

Also I am interested in going for some evening meals in the speciality table-service restaurants they set up in the Lido (Asian, Indian, Steakhouse etc). The cunard website says these are popular and important to book early, but this is not showing at all on my personaliser. Does this have to be done on board? If so, will I need to make all my bookings on first day of cruise?

Thanks for any advice you can give and also your feedback on these speciality restaurants

  5. Hi

We thoroughly enjoyed A164 -so much so that we booked it again for another trip, so we have now stayed in it twice.

The cabin itself is much larger than usual for this grade -with extra space between the bed and the window, probably another 4-5ft compared to usual, so the sitting area of the cabin is bigger.

The balcony is much larger too depthwise -with half under cover,in shade and with privacy , and the other half nearer to the rail exposed.

If you stand at the rail you can be seen by those on the deck above -but only if they stand at the edge and peer directly down. This generally only happens during sailaways - and hardly ever when at sea.

There is some noise morning and evening as loungers are being moved on the deck above but we found this fairly shortlived. We were awake anyway and it certainly did not detract from our enjoyment of the cabin overall.

I think you will enjoy A162. You will be able to see both sides of the fjord from your balcony rather than just one, which is a great plus point. Also if it is raining you can stay at the back of the balcony, stay dry and still enjoy the view. When we went to the fjords in May a few years back we had brilliant weather -so hope it will be the same for you.

We did suffer the 'soot' (red specks )problem one evening on our 2015 cruise -but not in 2016 so perhaps that is now sorted.

    Enjoy your cruise

  6. I am choosing a balcony cabin and am thinking to go toward the aft of Deck 7.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good location and in particular are these balconies exposed to the sky above, or covered by the balcony on the next deck up? I am keen to get some shade and privacy so am hoping for the latter

    Thanks for any advice

  7. We are thinking of booking our first Cunard cruise and just need some clarification regarding dress codes. The evening dress codes are explained clearly enough on the website -but I am still unclear about the requirements if attending the main Britannia restaurant for breakfast. In particular must men wear long trousers rather than shirts? Must they wear shirts rather than t-shirts? Is it the same at lunchtime?

    Thanks for any advice

  8. Hi

We booked an aft balcony on P&O Arcadia for a cruise this summer as I like the idea of overlooking the wake and being able to see the scenery on both sides of the ship. I have also heard that these aft cabins are bigger than the ones on the side of the ship. We will be on A deck. I am trying to find out whether there will be some overhang from the deck above so that at least part of the balcony will be in the shade and not overlooked. Has anyone been in one of the cabins before and able to help. Does the amount of overhang and shade vary between the different decks?

    Thankyou
